@Joseph Lakeway Try to set daily goals, and take weed as a reward. There are actually these kinds of lockboxes with an alarm that you can set. The box wont open until the given time. For example: we let it open up after 18:00 PM. that makes you productive until that time. You will trick your brain and stay calm, because you actually know that you will smoke that day.

The recording part is huge. I started journaling 6 months ago. And I wrote around 1400 pages so far. All about emotions, behaviors, thoughts, bodily sensations, habits, moods. Everything. And I've come to realize how absolutely everything is connected and intertwined with each other. You can't separate a thought from the body. It's literally part of it such that it actually directly influences your blood chemistry.
And I've come to realize how big of a tool our concious awareness is. What you focus on is how you feel.
Oh, and unrecognized shame and guilt are huge energy zappers by the way...

Steve Kamb from NerdFitness really left an impression with me with his idea of "never two in a row". Meaning in whichever way you might fail / fall off the rails, be it your nutrition, your training, your work or something else: Just make sure it doesn't happen twice in a row. Because if it does, you're starting to build momentum, but in the wrong direction. Just forgive yourself for one oopsie and pick up right where you left off. Skipped the gym once for whatever reason? No biggie, just resume your schedule from there. Had a binge and ate all the things? Ok, shit happens, forgive yourself and resume your previous diet regimen.
Now I'm not saying this always works or that I haven't failed and actually done 2 or even 20 in a row because I sure have. But I like to believe that in the past 9 or so years since I saw his video on this topic, a loooot of times this thought stopped me and prevented me from going further down that negative path. And as we learn in this video, it's all about doing the same, positive things consistenly for long enough. Anything that supports that is good in my book.

It's titled after one of his best where he goes into this point of not taking the easiest way, but decidedly choosing the difficult to grow.

I would add one more - healthy food. Things we eat have huge impact on our mind. So eating “dead” food (this also includes meat btw) makes you feel like trash. Just try not to eat dead food for at least 2-3 month and you’ll see guaranteed results.

What I like about this channel is that Joey will sometimes dispel the doubts you may have about a particular piece of advice. From my experience, sticking to certain habits is tough, since your brain will naturally come up with reasonable counterpoints to the habit, and without anyone to answer your counterpoints, you will slowly lose that steam you had back when you still kept up said habit.
