- Full tutorial showing how to install new brake pads and rotors on a 2018 Golf GTI. The 2018 golf GTI came with the performance package and manual parking brake standard in Canada this year, and this tutorial should apply to any GTI with the performance package. Generally, the install is nearly identical on any MK7 or MK7.5 though on some you can leave the caliper carrier on.
This should not be used as a tutorial and it is recommended to hire a professional mechanic for any major automotive repairs.

Did you use an impact gun to remove the carrier bolts? Those are a bitch to remove if the car is not on a lift. No leverage at all with just jack stands
@@iskooobydoo I’ve used both, I’ve done three sets of rear brakes on this platform, double wrenching wasn’t so bad on a 200km 2015
In the case of just replacing your brake pads. Does your oem caliper require a rewind tool or is a c clamp enough to depress it?
You need a rewind tool (clockwise)
What do you torque the triple square carrier bolts, as well as the other 2 bolts that go on the slider pins? Thx!
Slider pin bolts are 35 Nm, carrier bolts are 90 Nm + 90 degrees, but it's always wise to double check on the service manual.
