I've been a fan since CTS tour, which I thought was next-level godliness. I think Hushed and Grim is better. I done said it.
Have just listened to the whole album. A fair amount of the time, at least a track or two has to sorta grow on me. Not this one. I do t know anybody else thinks, but I dig the hell out of it; front to back. Amazing album. But yeah, so here I am, halfway through the last song & fuck it’s amazing. May be one of my favorites off this one. Coming from someone that in completely in love with their early stuff, I’d have never thought 20 years ago, that I’d be so into this beautifully evolved version of Mastodon. 🖤🔥🤘🏼

There is definitely something special about this track. Was telling my wife that Oblivion was such a particular part in my life, I'm sometimes sad I can't hear it again for the first time.
This album, and this song especially, brings so much force with it. It gives me goosebumps. I went and listened to Blood and Thunder, and it was like seeing someone grow from youth into maturity.

To state this song is a "power ballad" is the understatement of a lifetime. This is that song for the one person...that soulmate that you never ended up with...that haunts your every breathing moment...that you long for in your dreams, but know you have to let go. The opening notes tear at your heart. The lyrics crush every fiber of your being. In the 49 years I have been alive, not once, has a song ever literally tore me apart to the deepest recesses of my core...and healed the same core of a longing never to be realized.

Every mastodon album is a masterpiece equivalent to the ambient subconscious of a mastodon thawing from a frozen state to the point of almost melting back to life to then be frozen and be taken on an excursion of timelessness over and and over again, thousands of years apart. Each time during "The Thaw" we hear the power of the mastodons wisdom call to the wilderness.
Every album is not a masterpiece. Chill.

I'm hearing quality's in Troy's voice I never heard before. This band just keeps getting better with every album. This album definitely sounds better live. All the songs are big and strong just like a real Mastodon.

This whole album is the shit. It's been many moons since I loved a entire album, last one I purchased was A7x Hail to the King.
