Mastodon is one of my favorite bands, period. I really do love all of their albums, with Leviathan and CTS being my absolute favorites. This album is just so massive. I have to admit, upon my first 1-5 trips through it all, it seemed like every song was meandering aimlessly through chaos. The timing and riff changes seemed so abrupt, and unexpected, that every had this unfinished feel. I really didn't feel it from start to end. It was a lot to take in and try to understand. Now, fast forward to about the 20th time through this album, and I admit that this is entirely different level for Mastodon. I was just thinking this, my first listen through of this album it felt disjointed and I wasn't a huge fan. Now on probably the 10th listen and it just clicks, there is some powerful stuff on this one.
Probably my favorite off this album. Killer verse guitar riff, awesome verse vocals by Brann, solid good ol switch off with Troy for chorus vocals and just when you think it couldn't get better you get a great change with a Dirty B solo and more Brann vocals. That ending just grabbed me and something about it was new but familiar and after several listens it struck me that it is very similar (but not stealing anything) to AIC's Nutshell in chord progression and in so evokes that same visceral emotion for me. Another solid Mastodon album and this is one of the highlights imo that keeps me running back.

Alright so I know everyone says this “this is their best album yet what a masterpiece.” I’m not that guy. I liked all their albums and loved most of them, Hunter and OMATS were a little off for me, but then Emperor of Sand felt like a huge step in the right direction, and now Hushed and Grim….. this album really feels like the final form of their style. The style of mixing every good aspect of every good genre of rock and metal…. Like each album since crack the Skye was a version of this concept but this one feels like THE ONE…. Don’t normally gush about music like this but again this one hit perfectly and I can’t stop listening to it. Also the mix is perfect.
Wow. I've always appreciated Mastodon, but honestly haven't listened to them much after Blood Mountain (for no particular reason really, not sure why). I just dove into this song and was not expecting to get emotionally immersed in it like this. I'm a newly recovering alcoholic and man, these lyrics are so relatable.
The entire double album titled Hushed and Grim that this track is from is said by Mastodon to be dedicated it to their friend & manager Nick John who died in 2018 of pancreatic cancer. This song to me seems to be about the great loss of John and immense impact that his passing has had on the band over time.
Gobblers of dregs is the best imo but this is the 2nd best. The album as a whole is really great so I don’t think there is any song on the album that is by far the best

This band is proof that if you find the right bunch of people, and set sea to make music together, as a team, you can be successful.
If this doesnt get a million views within the month, it will be a crime.
I'm buying this for sure. Metal Ron said it's a masterpiece!
This album is a BANGER
The entire double album titled Hushed and Grim that this track is from is said by Mastodon to be dedicated it to their friend & manager Nick John who died in 2018 of pancreatic cancer. This song to me seems to be about the great loss of John and immense impact that his passing has had on the band over time.
Also covid could have influenced the grief theme
THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME HOLY SHIT
by far the BEST song on the whole album.
Gobblers of dregs is the best imo but this is the 2nd best. The album as a whole is really great so I don’t think there is any song on the album that is by far the best
Brann got a divorce during the making of this album. Now listen to 5:00
"Say when... and ill come running back"
Its crazy how Brann is a genius on percussion which is expected at this point and he still keeps pushing with the vocal melodies
This song is so damn good! One of those that touches your core.
I'm a 64yr old Rocker (YES OLD PEOPLE ROCK TO 😁🇺🇸💪) and Mastodon killed it with this one!!!! Keep on guys!!! 👍🇺🇸
This is a standout track from what is easily their best album since AT LEAST Crack The Skye. Still digesting his monster of an album but my expectations have been exceeded.
You can't just throw a Don album on for the first time and give it a quick listen. Just too much to unpack, takes a few listens.
After several listens to this whole album, I think this is the best song. Incredible work of art.
It's a fucking beautiful song, thank you and well done. In an unrelated event I got something in my eyes and must go now.
I've always had great respect for Mastodon, but this is the song that's making me love them.
Man this band never fails to impress!
My favorite song right now!!! Horry shiiyyaaat!!!
Reminds me of the good ole' days of farmin in the back alley trench, thanks bois
This one just pushes the tears out of your eyes
This band never fails to take me on a journey!
The best metal band alive.
Incredible song. In the best way possible, this is an awesome ode to Alice In Chains.
