Kicker has always been a good consistent brand and their stuff is reasonably priced too. Definitely a long time fan of Kicker.
Nothing more satisfying in audio than a product that is better than it claims to be. Impressive potential 👏
Yes, but not it is not very clean power. That does not matter as much in a mono amp, but for mids and highs there is a lot better products.
You have one of the coolest channels on UA-cam. Ever since you ran the JP8 on the dyno I had to have one. It does not disappoint. Thanks for the great content, and keep it up! Greetings from NC.
@@walI was wondering if you have done a video on the db drive neo 1.5k amplifier?
To: Tech B,
My next system from h unit to the woodsrs are gonna b 'D4Ss!! So please let me k ow if sum thin goes crazy. (Which i doubt)
Thanks, $horty!!
Ive had this lil beast pushin two Memphis PR 12"s for 2 years now and i couldnt be happier! For the size, power and reliability it definitely delivers!
I have the CXA1800.1. I used the SMD dyno, and the amp made 2300 watts under music load. It’s a beast.
Kicker has ALWAYS been among my favorites. I've had some good Kicker systems over the 23 years that I've been driving and they've always been good.
I’m glad I came across this video so I can show my friend! About a month ago I was trying to get my friend to buy this amp for the loaded rockford enclosure he bought. Its the dual P2 12” ported enclosure. He wanted something already put together so he didn’t have to worry about getting a box built. I believe that loaded enclosure is rated at like 800 to 1000 rms or so. He thought $300 was too expensive for 800 watts cause he got pulled into the PEAK numbers on the cheaper amps. I told him you need to look at RMS and make sure it’s 1 ohm stable for the enclosure he got. He didn’t listen and bought some Boss “2000 watt” amp which I found out about when I went over to help him with the install. I was like dude why did you buy that?? He said why would I spend $300 for 800 watts when I got this 2000 watt amp for $120. I helped him install it anyway. Telling him about amp dyno video’s and how these cheaper amps with peak numbers never get close to that power. We hooked it up, set the gain and everything and it worked. But that’s about it. The subs needed more power. He asked is that as loud as they’re going to get? He thought I had the gain turned down to let them break in. I said nope that’s full power. They need more power. He said well I’m giving them twice their rated power, 2000 watts! I guess what I said went in one ear and right out the other. So he was disappointed lol. But he kept it hooked up and the amp blew last week lol. So it lasted about 3 weeks or so of about 45 minutes of driving to and from work. As far as I know he hasn’t ordered another amp yet. So I sent him this video. Hope he listens this time.
*EDIT: I originally thought it was a belva amp, but its a Boss amp that blew. I just talked to him. He will be getting this kicker amp after watching this video and some other amp dyno video’s of the cheaper amps. I think he going to try to get the boss amp replaced under warranty so he can sell it to at least get some money back.
You pushed that little amp. I love it, kicker makes quality products. Currently enjoying the KS componants, with a dsp they sound pretty damn good didn't sound bad without though. Glad you did a full review of the amp. I didn't feel kicker went through it very well on their dyno show
I love the AMM-1 view when your playing the subs... Great addition!
Nice pro-tip.
I never thought of that. Those silica gel packs remove the moisture in the air and it will help prevent rust.
I learned something new today!

There’s like 3 channels where I can confidently like the video as soon as I open it before watching, and this is one of em. Big D never done me wrong yet
Haven't looked at Kicker in 22 years, but always respected their stuff. Had one of their ZX series amps back in the day. It was big, heavy, and an inefficient power hog by today's standards, however it delivered some of the cleanest bass you could ever want. Once JL Audio came out with their 1st-gen class D amps I went with those because they also were very underrated and blew the A/B Kicker amps away at that window in time, but these days it's more subjective between them in terms of what you want.
Best video ever. Super helpful. Made it easy to decide on what to get.
Just when I thought your channel was slowly dying. Bam! Frequent videos and the same great quality. No slacking to make it easier, we appreciate the effort!!!
I really hope that you get to do the 1800.1 very soon I have two of them and I absolutely love them
BIG D! loving the content. I'm shopping for some 15s for a wall build in my Honda Accord. Your amp dynos are gonna definitely sway my choices for amps. Thank you for what you do.
@@wal yes sir! 94 Accord 4 door. Paid $300 for the car. Already got the back seat out and sound deadener. She's ready to frame up!
Of course, I picked the perfect time of year in NC to do it. Just when it's getting stupid hot.
you are a great ... always very detailed ... I would like to see some tests, on old macrom or audioqueest in the case of hertz, I follow you from Italy, and thanks to your videos I have been able to evaluate many components. a warm hug and keep it up.
I put this exact amp in my Jeep! I love the size and it sounds great on my Kicker L7 10 inch sub in a custom slot port box
Great video Big D. Kicker always did make excellent amplifiers. Good sound quality and durability. I have had very little luck with their subs though. They sounded great all the way up in till they went up in smoke. Lol.
I remember a competitor back in ‘91 who ran a 32 speaker system in his Astro van using just 1 Kicker amp, though the model escapes me, I do remember he was in the 51 - 100 class. I also remember him talking 2nd and his van sounded straight nasty, loud, crisp and clean.
That was very popular back then. The 50W and under class had a lot of competition
i remember when kicker first started........i had one of their first truck boxes in my vw........2 -6.5 woofers, 10 inch passive radiator, 2 horn tweeters on top.....they sure have grown
Oh man, just mentioned this on your Skar video! I bought one of these and a 4 ch for my build.
this amp ran a sundown sa10 and a rockford p3 for me wonderfully for years
I've been hoping you'd do the CXA400.1. I got a factory receetified one for like 100 bucks and that thing puts out around 700W @ 1 Ohm before clipping which is a phenomenal value for driving a single Kicker CompR 10" dual 2 ohm voice coil woofer. Never had a single issue with it and runs very cool to the touch no matter how hard I drive it.
I have one running a 12inch Skar at 1ohm and sounds great. I got it specifically because the large amount of power it can take from high level inputs. I have it running off the stock sub leads in my Genesis sedan.
Great use case for this amplifier. Replace the stock sub and sub amp while not having to deal with and adapters and crap.
@@catch22frubert YES 100%
I searched for an amp for this situation and here we go bullseye!!!
Still rocking by the way. on my Skar 12
I've always been a fan of kicker and alpine.
I got this Amp from BB for $200 open box sale. And I’m using it on a single RF P3 12” sub 2ohm dvc wired to 1ohm to get the 800w. Sealed enclosure in my 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner. It’s more than plenty Power for my needs.
Finally my amp on the dyno! It fits perfect under the driver seat of my Tundra. Good amp. 🔊🔊
I have the cxa400.1 powering a 10" Comp R dual 2ohm... its great because I can keep the amp turned down fairly low and still have good bass.
i have the CXA1800.1 when i did have it hooked up it was well worth the purchase powering 2 comp r15s
We sell and install tons of these. They’re extremely reliable. As a shop, we love reliable.
I also have the amp in this video. Had it in my minitruck on an alpine type s 10 dvc at 1 ohm. It bangs like crazy!!
Love the vids! I’d like to see how this compares to the KXA800.1
I look forward to your videos. I’ll leave the field and go back to my office to watch if a new video comes out.
YES! I’ve been posting about cx amps in your comments for a while. It’s nice to see a video on at least the 800.1
Little over rated, probably does rated around 14v. I still really want to see the 1800.1, if they’d ever send it to you for testing.
@@wal yeah, I saw that test. It was ok but I want to see you test the 1800 and 1200
Never owned a Kicker Amp but i have Kicker components in the back of my car and pleased with them.
Thank you for testing name brand amps that we would actually use
Nice informative video, Thank you.
Wouldn't it been awesome to have these 25 years ago, especially for the price, back then this would been over $1k and class a/b , not likely class D, I used to love kicker, and had a couple all kicker systems, mid and highs, their amps, subs, sub amps, awesome video
Good job D! I love Kicker😎
I like this amp. I using to push 2 pioneer shallow mounts under my back seat of my truck. It thumps!
I like this channel bro….Keep going…..greetings!!!!! I’m Raul Ayala
Hot Damn that quad box is bumping hard. Listened to it on earphones and was like "damn that sh*t is bumpin". Great video!
Love your videos BIG D
I have this amp...mine is the 400.1d and it provides 534 watts
Certified according to kickers certification. I think it's a great Amp. Mine pushes a pair of Kenwood 12s 800 peak 400 rms.
I have no complaints in my Honda civic. Loud as hell and bass is awesome. My ears resonate bass for 20 min after I get out of car....
Hey Big D!
Another great video brother. I wish i knew if i was going to the bbq this year at SHCA would love to give you a demo just because i peak at 33 hz and not too many larger builds are as stupid as mines🤣
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 slow clap…. Gotta love that Oklahoma power! 👀 draw FTW. I’ve used this amp in several installs and they all perform. Thanks Big D!
Gotta love it man! Kicker is a killer og, I used to only use kicker and Rockford. I have this amp in my work car wired 2ohms to a og rf hx2 power in a sealed box and still slaps like day one! Hey do you or know anyone who has the Sony xplode cd from early 01-02? I know in your old intro you had it going into the alpine . Would love a burned copy
I have this particular amp I bought it used online for $50 and it is a powerhouse for the small size
Kicker always has put out decent amps!!!
Bad ass little amp..timeless look as well
The best part about this amp is the optional vertical mounting. IMO
that's a bad ass amp pushes crazy power I had a small one and man it hit so hard lol
I bought the CXA 400 pushing two 10" kicker subs now I want more. I am adding two more 10" subs with the CXA 800. I have the gain less than half way.
First of all you do have a great channel I like to ask you have you ever tested any commando amplifiers I've watched a lot of your videos and you do have great information and thanks again
Hey, Williston!
Thanks for subscribing to my channel!
I follow your tests here in Brazil and I admire your work!
Greetings!
I love my kicker amp ❤ well worth the money if you ask me
These little kicker amps are surprisingly powerful I had the 600 the 1200 and the 1800 cxa series and they're no joke way over rated with power to spare
I'm looking to put one in my Suburban and run two 12s , since U have had them what is the best for the money or would You say I get ? THANKS I was thinking this 800.1 or should I go bigger ?
@@Bigdeal9898 I have a Kicker box with 2 12" Comps. Not sure on what the watt numbers are on the speakers unless I take them out of the box.
@@tobyrussow9964 comp r? If so they’re 500 rms a piece. So 1000 rms total. Just depends on what ohm they’re wired at. Do you have an ohm reader ? If so check the ohms at the terminal. If not you’ll have to take at least one of the speakers out to see.
@@Bigdeal9898 I ended up getting a CXA 800.1 but I'm down to getting a adapter to my factory amp to run my RCA jacks. I wanted to do plug and play where I didn't have to splice into the wires. I found a guy here on UA-cam that makes them and asked or wanted to buy one and he sent me a link that went NO where. Something about watching a video and reading a QR code to get started ??? Started doing what , I don't know but just wanted to buy a plug and I guess that was his way of telling me to get F#%Ked. I found one on Ebay but doesn't have a remote wire and there feedback isn't to good so I can't find one. Crutchfield has nothing so kinda at a stand still ????
I've owned this amp for about a year and I run it into two cvx 10's at 1ohm. It's EXTREMELY stable at 1 ohm. I run it hard for an hour at a time most days.
It do bump.
Edited to add: My home subwoofer was bumpin pretty hard during the bass test.
They really should of kept the speaker connections from when this was the cx 600.1 instead of the spade style they switched too. I think it’s the same amp just 1 ohm rated to get 800 instead of the 600 at 2ohm. My cx 600.1 pushes hard doesn’t get hot after hours at full tilt. It’s a good amp I flipped the end cap mounts over and mount mine upside down with custom plexiglass back I made.
Love kicker amps! My old kicker zx amp sounds better than half of today's amps.💯
Yeah buddy my zx 750.1 still thumps rated at 930w on birth sheet had it since 2010. Have brand new never powered zx 1500.1 from 2011 purchased in
2015 for 430.00!!! Yeah boi!!!
Running this thing for about 16 mi the now at full tilt every day all day to a evl12 d2 at 1ohm..
Getting around 966w wo clipping. When it reaches clipping she will power down a little quickly on her own about 2-3 volts ac. She’s a solid workhorse of an amp. My only complaint is she’s a little too happy to go into protect sometimes and when it does it’s a bit of a pain to get it to reset. Never happened while playing only during the summer months when the car was 160+ * inside at first start up or anytime you disconnect any part of the system it goes into protect. As simple as being. Powered and removing the sub from the truck and then honking it back up cause something was to large to fit into the trunk lid while the box in there..
I have the cxa1800.1 on 2 12 L7s. I can run it hard for an hour and it won't get hot at all. No bs. I haven't even been able to get hot yet.
KICKER does some crazy durability tests just watch Unmasked Live previous shows and they explain their process
I have sold and installed literally hundreds of these by now and I absolutely love them, however I have never seen one for $300 anywhere. They're usually around the $199 mark which I think is reasonable. The 1200 and 1800 are equally solid
Could be cuz it needs a fan or mounted on little
Blocks when wired at 1
Ohm. Amps need air space for 😊
Who remembers Kicker’s demo vehicle, Shamu?
Just ordered the 1200.1 (that would be sick if you dyno'd that one) to replace an old ZX750.1 I've had forever. It's a lot of watts only pushing one 12" Kicker Compvr in a ported enclosure, but whatever, i might want to push something different in the future. But I cant have too much bass, this is in my converted van that i live in so the bass makes the spices in the spice rack levitate. Ive also got a ZX350.4 pushing 6.5" Focal coaxials in boxes and Focal components in the doors and a 100amp AC/DC converter charger feeding everything when Im parked and pumping tunes for all the babes 😂
I have the cxa600.1 and it's pushing 6 12's wired in series parallel around 1.7 ohms. It's extremely under rated!
I bought this amp and going to use it at 800 @ 1 ohm to run a 10” kicker comp Q 10 rated at 700 rms. Hopefully the power will be good for this setup
@@monarchlifestyle6299 this little amp is a beast. Be careful with the gains I think this amp could easily overpower the sub. Is your sub dual 2ohm?
@@headkase11 yes the speaker is a dual 2 ohm. The wiring diagram for this sub shows it can run off a 1 ohm amp to a dual 2 ohm. I am going to give it 800 @ 1 ohm and see how it performs. I don’t plan on playing it at max to try and set some type of record but just want a nice hard hitting sub.
I would love to have a CXA800.1 signed by you incorporated into my build someday :)
Kicker always seems to do what it claims.
My kicker cxa800.1 just stopped working this morning but yesterday it was fine
with kicker, you pay for what you get. great amps and their customer service is top Notch. I have a kx 5 channel with the Bluetooth bass knob. I have it in my SUV running my ct sounds components and sub. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough power to drive my 12-inch subs properly in my car.
what 12 inch subs you referring to? are u sure thats the problem? cuz maybe its your LOC or the signal from the factory radio? that was my problem last year
That quad box really doesn't rise that bad. I'm always surprised seeing the full rms output of the amp for a split second
I just recently picked up the 1800.1 and I like it so far. I got it for 299 on crutchfield which seems like there was a price error or something because it's at 499 and out of stock now. It claims to do 1800 watts at 1 and 2 ohm which is nice. Didn't know about the 25hz subsonic issue and honestly I was wondering why low bass notes were quieter than usual... might have to bump up that region in my dsp a little to compensate.
Yeah that was WAY too cheap. KICKER tested the 1800.1 live on that Dyno episode. I have it linked in the video description
I was going to comment that even tho these exceed rated power, there just seems to be something missing on the low end. I didn't know there was a subsonic issue. Can you elaborate?
@@jayinmi3706 subsonic filter too high, at 25hz, most subsonic filter are adjustable and start at 0-5hz to about 25 30hz. Subsonic filter are good to control ported subs movement.
I actually owned 2 of these in the past year, pushing 2 Seperate: Dual 12 ported Subwoofer systems... 1st was 2 x 12 Jl w3's and the 2nd was 2 x 12 Fosgate P2's both systems Pounded hard and sounded good. Puts out more than rated power etc. The only thing I can ding it on is the Fixed Subsonic filter being too high and not adjustable..
The Cxa800 was my favorite budget Sub Amp until..... I discovered the NVX XAD12.... The NVX is a lil Cheaper and put out 2200+ watts RMS! yes RMS @ 1ohm Dynamic.. Alsmost twice the power.. I have this NVX powering 2 Alpine type R's 10's in their "Halo" Boxes and they are Stupid Loud yet still Clean.
Hey you ran two JL w3 with this amp no problem? I want to run two JL Tw3 with it at 1ohm but wasn't sure if it would be enough or if it would get hot. I'm running one Tw3 on a jl 500.1 and it sounds great but wanted to upgrade.
I use this aml for sub, and the smart kicker 4 channel for highs.
Can you please test the Rockville Krypton M3 and the Krypton F2
please do one on the 46cxa1800.1.i run one in each of my two vehicles
Love this amp… however after installers added a box with 2 kicker compvr later on that day it is stuck on protection mode… this happened Saturday night and they are closed on Sunday and I go out of town Monday😭
I own this amp. It's still running strong in my brother's car. I needed more power but for a normal person this is great amp. I have a medical condition which requires me to progressively add more power and mods to my car.
Edit: Bass knobs are retarded but a remote clip light would be nice. At low power it's not as important but I can't run an amp without a remote clip light.
Edit: maybe retarded was a harsh word but I have no need for a bass knob
Ik this is really old but what amp u running?
@@ayy_itsme1626 it is old, I have a taramps smart 3 but If a JP23 v2 existed at the time, I would’ve grabbed that amp instead. Lately I’ve been doing different things with clip lights. Smart 3 already has a remote clip indicator so I have that signal turn on a couple of bright 12 volts leds using an arduous board so I really miss can’t ignore clipping. I say that because the next thing I’m going to do is make a clip light for this kicker amp. Seems pretty easy, I don’t get why some amps don’t have a clip light
@@Titans2138 lol I just got the same amp. Had the kicker and just got the smart3 and I like it, and love the little clip light meter thing
