I love how pulled together everything looks after the maintenance. I see that maintenance is the key difference between "Wow, your dreadlocks are so cool and awesome" and "Your hair looks, ummm...nice?". Another great informative video!
There are plenty of children out there with dreadlocks (and I think it’s adorable!!), however these are my hesitations: 1.) They don’t fully understand what that might mean. Even if they love the style and understand that there are some stereotypes around it, they may not foresee how other kids might react at school (bullying, etc). That won’t always happen but certainly could and is just hard to explain to a child. 2.) The crochet hook method (what we use) can be somewhat painful and time consuming so it would be difficult for a child to sit through that type of an appointment. Obviously there are other ways to achieve dreadlocks, but they may look really messy for a while.... Anyway, we don’t have an age restriction or anything, but I certainly urge families to do there research and really consider the options!
@@LizKidder thank you so much! Definitely a lot to consider. I believe in letting them express themselves but also letting them know how other, more sheltered, people might look at it. Great job Liz! Looking forward to seeing more hiking vids this spring!
Her dreads are so amazing. They are so full too. Total perfection.

My daughter is 9 yrs old and she is determined to have dreadlocks. What is your opinion on a child that young getting locks done?
