I spent a day with Jay a few years ago while I was working for a car magazine. Head to toe in denim, he showed no ego, and we ate BBQ at a place near where he keeps his collection of cars. It was interesting because I felt like he was totally different, but still the same guy. He was among car guys, which is his passion, and not around showbiz folks. Great experience with a guy who seemed like any other car guy I’ve met-he just happens to have the most insane collection and is a legendary comedian and show host.

Well there ya go. I’m good ole Jay but make sure you know about those cars over there. That’s a man’s ego. A legendary man doesn’t have to say anything, the resume speaks for itself. That happy meal McLaren story, I will definitely be bringing up if I ever meet him.

Comedy bits take months, hell even years to refine and hone for them be as funny as they can be. A comic has to work out timing, placement, even single words - then has to work on that bit in front of an audience to master it...and that's just for one 5 minute bit. Leno had to work his way up going like many stand up comedians from city to city each night to survive. Then got his break on the tonight show and worked his way up the ladder. Then when he got the chance to host the Tonight Show after Johnny Carson that was the Mount Everest. The one thing he always stayed humble and never let the fame get to his head.
