An ice-type weakness means he's at least part ground, grass, flying or dragon. Explosions don't seem to phase him, though he causes most of these. If he has a fire resistance he isn't grass type and doesn't get it from his presumed ghost typing, so is probably part ground or dragon. I'd guess ghost and ground, except that would make him double-resistant to poison when in the first film he was taken out by being injected with acid. (Yes, that was a dream(?) but I'm assuming that's a field effect and doesn't change the effectiveness of attacks). Poison weakness means he has to be part-fairy or part-grass, and while grass would explain the ice weakness it doesn't explain fire resistance. Taking the Tall Man as definitely part fairy (which explains his dreamlike aesthetic), dragon is the only typing giving both ice weakness and fire resistance. Curiously, no option that gives an ice weakness will offset fairy's steel weakness. Tall Man is weak to steel. I now know how this franchise will end.
I think there is only one conclusion that can be drawn from this video: how long ago did the Tall Man get you? How long have you been Sphere-dy Matt instead of Scaredy Matt?
The spheres are clearly the many eyes of Lord Oculon, who must have sent the Tall Man to reap the harvest of small leftist projects. So presumably if you look through enough of the content on Matt's other channel you can find when this started.
Loving this series, can't wait for more. And the sun is a big ball, there are lots of balls in the movies. How anyone can't see the summery vibes of this series is beyond me.
So now we know that the balls are from maybe-space and contain the brains of a sentient species, the question is - was Dr Who referencing Phantasm when they introduced the Tochlaphane? Do they share a universe? Are we going to get the Doctor vs the Tall Man, and if we do, how will the undeniably summery vibes of Phantasm mesh with the Christmassy vibes of Dr Who? And most importantly, when that inevitable crossover definitely happens, will Scaredy Matt play the Dr Who theme song on his ukelele?

The one and only time I saw Phatasm 3 was over 20 years ago as a teenager, whilst on a summer holiday to the USA. It was presented as part of one of Joe Bob Briggs' cable TV versions of his show. I think I might actually be living in a Phatasm movie.
I remember being young and riding my bike around the neighborhood with my friends until the sun would go down. It was usually a weekend, so it wasn’t a school night and we would stay up late. If it was a Saturday night, Joe Bob Briggs would be hosting Monstervision on TNT. That’s where I saw the first couple of Phantasm films. I specifically remember doing all of this in the summer, so I agree with Matt on Phantasm giving off summer vibes. It makes me feel nostalgic and cozy. Good shit.
God. I was a kid when I saw these movies and my memories were so hazy. But I remember the weird, complex emotions that went through my head when Mike and Jody go off at the end. Something about that moment just had SO much weight that it probably wouldn't have if I saw it as an adult capable of realizing how bizarre and cheesy these films are. Loving these videos on this hot summer franchise!
Ground is weak to Ice, and Tall Man doesn't seem like a Dragon or Flying or Grass type. So given the whole psychic link thing Ground/Psychic seems like the most likely type combo
Maybe the Tall Mans ability provides him an additional weakness to Ice type attacks, similar to how pokemon with the Thick Fur ability, despite being iiirc all Normal or Dark types, take extra damage from Fire type moves?
A. Sphere is a whole character? Edit: wild that this feels less crazy then most of the rest of this. Gotta love a Batman villain trio murdered by a child tho
