Dear Paul, a few hours ago I, 56, had the chance to witness you the first time live, here in Erding, Bavaria in a small venue. You were one of my idols of my youth. I grew up with your wonderful music and voice. My all time favourite is and was always the song "No Parlez", followed by "Behind Your Smile", both you performed tonight.❤❤ It was a great great concert and I am deeply grateful for having been there. A true fan from Germany. 🙏🙏🙏
@@jackieclark8253 I was actually coming here to say “hey is that Pino Palladino?” Lol. I’m a big who freak and he’s toured with them a lot since Entwistle’s death. Loved Paul Young in the 80s but forgot who his band was. Except the fabulous wealthy tarts of course! 😂😂😂
@@drbkap3 …🤣🤣🤣 Yeah ,I found out this was Pino when I first heard it on the radio! I looked up the credits immediately! 🤣 I know the original songwriter personally (Earl Randle) from my hometown (Memphis)
@@drbkap3I'm looking up more work from that super talented bassist. Bassists are so underrated in bands, but without the bass , there is no backbone to the piece. When I was playing in bands, as a keyboardist, I practised non- stop with my bassist, as our rhythm's synch & pace, was so much more important , than most would think.
Everyone always talks about the amazing bass on Paul's songs, and yes it is brilliant, good job Pino, but lets take a minute to appreciate the amazing vocals, that man can sing!!!
well...he is no george michael though. Paul Young's voice is one of those which is either you like or dislike....which can be said too about Rod Steward. You either like it or you dislike.
@@empireentertainmentevents1353 errr, well i know for a fact that george was down to sing the opening lines from "do they know it's christmas?" and when they flipped on the 24-track (with all the instruments already tracked), he threw his toys out of the pram because it was in a key he couldn't get to; so in steps Mr. Paul Young at short notice; and the rest is history...
It's rumored that this whole song was written off that opening bass lick. He's just incredible...and the fretless was definitely the way to Go on this track.
What an awesome track and album from a phenomenal singer. This man was/still is the epitome of absolute cool. I remember checking this cassette out from the library when I was in Elementary School.
I played this on bass for my year 10 high school music performance in 1985. It ws being amplified by some old stereo the school had. My Tascam Porta One played the tape. My bass panned to one side and this track panned to the other. The bass was my Aria Pro 2 Caridinal that I had ripped the frets out of plugged into a Boss OC-2 pedal. The teacher gave me 20/20. The class loved it. It was more fun than listening to your typical SATB played on he piano. Memories. Thanks Pino for showing such inovation.
A strong cover of a strong song! Plus I remember dancing in my room to this song, playing on the radio and probably being recorded onto a cassette. Manually. The hard way.
I collect random old vinyls and i so happened to have the vinyl of this song and out of curiosity I searched the name of it here on UA-cam with that being said it didn’t failed to impress me. Idk who this man is but his voice and vibe is incredible!!! Its sad that he is not a big name in the industry

Hopefully you were able to personally say hello to him and perhaps gotten your record signed..
After almost 40 years, this track sounds almost as fresh as if it was recorded yesterday. Great performance, great video.
Absolutely agree !
Yes. I wish he was more famous.
This literally sounds directly of its time lol Like, it’s great, but no one is mistaking what time period it came from.
I continuous loving this song after 40 years!!!
I know.. miss the 80s so much.
Love this, first time hearing it, love all his music!!👍💥

40 years old and still strong. What a way to introduce the next album way back in 1984.
I'm 50, its still as great as it was all those years ago

Oh please. The bass is by far the best musician in this band. And what a horrible video. The bass player is barrerly viewed.
Can you imagine this song without Pino's bass work? I can't. Amazing bass lines.
Nope. I just wish it were louder in the mix.

Play tha funky music white boys! Great Vocals and that famous bassline.

THIS RECORD MUST BE PLAYED LOUD !
YES! Just now watching this video, I was thinking of decades ago when I had the 7" single, and the printed label which had those words...
WHAT?
Reminds me of Big Country, Wonderland. When I really want to talk to the Cops.
Like Big Country, if you're not talking to the cops, it's too quiet.
Those bass lines by Pino are like another song within the main song
Thank when i ear this song i can t ear another think but the fantastic lines of bass
This song should have gone to the bloody top....🎉
Wow....the bassline is simply irresistible
No that was Robert Palmer...

A great cover of Ann Peebles’ original.

Ann Peebles - I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down (1973)
Graham Parker too, it's a great song.
My favourite of Paul's tunes amongst so many greats. This was his classic in my eyes ...... And the 12"??? Oh man..... 40 years on and he could sing.
I love this song...paul young has got a beautiful voice...❤
Perfect song, strong voice, bass, lyrics.
The perfect song? Have you ever heard another song?
I was trying to think of the worst song I've ever heard. It was this and Sleeping Bag by ZZ Top
True enough, Mr. Young could sing.
@@squat666 Yeah Graham Parker's raw version is better.
Paul Young had a major impact on George Michael's idea of what he wanted to become, a soul singer ✌️😎
I love your voice Paul.. and your Music has always been absolutely wonderful
At least he warned her-"I'm gonna tear your playhouse down pretty soon." I had forgotten how much I love this song.😁😀🥰🤪
