    This is very good ideas. But there are some seconds thoughts. The first at all beeing celebrytist stylist you have to know someone of them. Other intership is only for rich people who can afford not to earn. Another thing is that stylist need to be customer oriented personality. I work as a sales associate in middle luxury fashion and I am doing styling using products which I sell.
    And I want do personal styling and shopping outside the work. And I don't know how to start. I am looking for a Styling/ Personal Shopper course which help me take my creativity outside the companies I work ( Reiss and LK Bennett). I know how important is important fashion and body shape knowlegde and ect but as well psychological side because very often we have to work with people who they don't feel comfortable with they body shape. So let me know Basia what do you think about it

      @BasiaRichard  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Marzena, Before I started to style celebrities I didn't know anybody and most of stylists start from the bottom just like me. Internships are part of this industry and you can work and take internships. Most of stylists started like this. Fashion and celebrity stylists are mostly creative strategist for most parts. If you want to start your business as a personal stylist you can start it right away. It's what you do in your current job anyway. They is if to have a website with your offer and start doing it first for free for your friends and family to build a portfolio and slowly you will start getting new clients.

    Great advise, I don’t know much about celebrities but it should be very difficult reach them!!!!

      @BasiaRichard  4 роки тому +1

      Well, it's not as difficult as everyone thinks. If you follow my tips start with moving to where celebrities live thats a step no.1 internships is the best way to meet people, get experience and actually get introduced to publicists who rep celebs. It will take some work, but this is not as impossible as you might think. I am glad you found it helpfull :))

    How do I go about charging? Do you charge by hour? By look? By day? I’m stuck

    • @BasiaRichard
      @BasiaRichard  4 роки тому +1

      HI IT ALL DEPENDS ON A JOB BUTYOU DON'T WANT TO CHARGE PER HOUR. NORMALLY YOU WILL NEGOTIATE A DAY RATE. WHEN IT COMES TO RED CARPET DRESSING YOU CAN CHARGE PER LOOK PLUS EXPENSES LIKE ALTERATIONS THAT SHOULD BE ON TOP OF YOUR RATE. SO YOU CAN TELL A CLIENT WHAT IS YOUR DAY RATE AND NEGOTIATE HOW MANY DAYS YOU NEED IN ORDER TO WORK ON THIS JOB. FOR THE RED CARPET NORMALLY YOU WOULD CHARGE PER LOOK REGARDLESS HOW MANY DAYS YOU WILL WORK, BUT YOU ALWAYS WANT TO ADD YOUR EXPENSES ON TOP.

      Basia Richard as of right now, I style photo shoots and videos shoots. I don’t have the connections to be able to pull from designers, so I either buy and return, rent, or buy and keep the clothing items. I think I’m going to have to rent or go buy things from the thrift store because this next project is vintage

    • @BasiaRichard
      @BasiaRichard  4 роки тому +1

      @@ratianareid Where are you located? It depends on a magazine but some PR will loan you free clothes. Send them a request with a pull letter. You are not loosing anything.The worse can happen they will say no. Also develop relationships with stores and boutiques in your area they will give you clothes for free if they get a credit in a magazine its a free pr for them.

      Basia Richard I’m in Connecticut. I go to NY also. I haven’t shot with magazines yet, so that’s why I haven’t reached out to any boutiques or PR. I’m building my portfolio. I’ve only done 3 projects so far

    • @ratianareid

      So am I supposed to be charging a day rate for the days that I’m pulling clothes too? Or am I just charging for the days we are shooting?
