I feel soo guilty watching your videos esp vids like this coz I feel like I should be paying for this masterclass like THANK U MA'AAAAAAAM and SORRYYYY😭😭😭
As an VIP stylist assistant, I love the way you describe the job. It simplifies it in the best way. Sometimes it feels so intense & overwhelming - but it doesn’t have to be! Just stepping back and looking at the bigger picture like this. Keeping in mind the ultimate goal. Thanks Kate 💖 I love these videos!
Honestly, the best youtube Channel. I have assisted some major Stylists in my time in both North America and London where I now live and your honesty, willingness to share, and candour is so refreshing. You are so talented and so classic in your style and approach- I appreciate your insight immensely.
You have such beautiful and effortless style. I know you love talking about your clients and your choices for them but I would love to hear more about how you choose pieces for yourself, from the clothes to the accessories. Maybe even talk about some of your favorite pieces and what you love about them. I would watch that video multiple times!!!
@@kateyoung Thank you for the response! Agree with the other reply, it's more about hearing about the process of fabrics and brands you love that are maybe not so well known, maybe fabrics you know work better for certain types, classics you love, etc. Just learning from someone who looks at clothing and accessories all the time for different people as well as for yourself.
I had no idea there was one sole individual behind JustJared! Whenever I google a celebrity outfit the best pictures are always from his site but I just assumed it was a gossip site, can't wait to look up who he's been styling
UGH I just found my number 1 channel I’m so amped for a next season. You’re incredible and so inspiring AND a smoke show. Thanks for this A+ content ❤️
I feel invited into the high end fashion world for the first time, really. Mostly I feel very intimidated by fashion content for not understanding fashion very well, but this quality of sharing openly and taking us closer to the details, explaining clearly is really opening a world to me. Very much appreciated.
thank you for making a video like this. I’m a 21 year old college student in LA that is currently studying costume designing. My career goal is to be a celebrity stylist like yourself, I’ve felt discouraged in the past trying to figure out how to get to where I want to be in the fashion industry & this gave me an idea of how things work. I’m currently interning as an assistant for a stylist here in LA & I hope that this opens doers and sets new opportunities for me in the near future. I want to be one of the greats in the future just like you Kate!
Yes, I agree ...certainly the best youtube channel right now! Thank you for bringing knowledge, professionalism, good manners and most of all for the passion.
These are beautifully well-produced videos that just keep you captivated with just information and delivery alone. No music, no excessive graphics, no flashy editing, just information and examples. I love this!
You're just the coolest person ever. I love listening to you talk about your profession because it's so obvious how much you love it and how passionate you are about fashion.
So interesting, listening to Derek, about all the elements, collaborators, ...applying that to who I am on a daily basis to "present" myself, to have fun and feel grand and get out the door to do life as a normal human, is a lifetime of knowledge and skill and passion for these arts, and I deserve a raise : ) cause, damn, I got skills. XO
So glad this channel popped up in my recommendations, been deprived of red carpet glam for months and your videos are a treat! A question - do you ever read comments made by fashion critic bloggers etc, and do their critiques ever impact your future work?
Hi, I'm from Saudi Arabia, it's rare here to find something like your videos, teaching fashion and explaining each detail, you do a fascinating job, I love fashion so much even though I have a law degree, but I'm 24 so I can do them both. Love your work ❤️
I saw your video with Hung Vanngo and I'm really excited for you to give advice on what jeans to wear depending on your figure etc. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! ☺️
I knew this show was meant for me ❤️ (Celebrity)stylist in training 👒👯♀️👗Great episode and very useful tips 👌I love your work and you would make for a very good fashion school teacher too ❤️
Kate, This is absolutely amazing. I really like how in depth you went. I also loved how you invited other perspectives in the mix. I definitely see what you mean by being able to develop not just your identity in fashion but in other forms of arts. Once I started to work as Visual Merchandiser for Nordstrom I was able to meet different Visual Stylists and soak up as much information about art as I could. I started in a very small store where in order to compete ( in terms of mannequin styling through photos ) I had to be specially creative with layering. Soon after I started my transition I had already started been molding who I was through how I dressed my mannequins and from then it all just sewed in together with my music production which I also had to find my voice in. It's really great hearing about it here because I could step back and actually see myself through what you and your peers said. Anyways, I doubt I would ever get the opportunity to work with you but I just wanted to commend you for these series!! Cannot wait for season 2. Would you be able to talk about your own development of style through Vogue ? I was looking through old videos of you on other channels and I see a progression for sure. I would love for you to take a step back and be more personal with styling by explaining how your own perspective on dressing came about. Many hugs from Canada!! 🌙
@@kateyoung I think it would be a great insight for you as well, right? just to be able to look back and be thankful for that process ( which Im sure you are already )

Hi Kate This is such great information for our students, l will definitely tell them all to subscribe to your channel. Lots of love from Villioti Fashion Institute in South Africa 🇿🇦❤️Spero Villioti
Kate, thank you for this wonderful series. Obviously it is a pleasure to listen to you talk about fashion but you also come across as humble, a nice person, respectful and some that takes her job but not herself seriously. You are an excellent communicator and a woman to aspire to. Xxx
I hardly ever comment on any UA-cam video because I just try to avoid issues with people. But when u commented on my previous comment, I was like OMG, she actually noticed me! As for fashion, ever since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated about it because growing up watching my late grandmother sewing dresses and gowns and learning to use the sewing machine at a very young age although the first time I touched her sewing machine, I remember I was like 4 years old and my pointer got stuck and the needle pierced right through my fingernail. But that didn't stop me from wanting to learn. I started to dress differently since high school, I always wanted to look different, noticeable yet fashionable at the same time without spending too much. I even learned to create a backpack out of cut jeans when I was in grade school. And even when my exes would take me to shopping, they always had to wait an hour or 3 because I am just so nitpicky and meticulous with details, even if it was just Topshop or Zara or H&M. I always look at the details, the stitching, and I even compared 3 of the same top or dress of the same size because the fittings were usually a bit different than the other. I even remember when I went to college and I only had 3 shirts to wear that my mom and I bought from a thrift store and the 4th shirt was a DKNY that my sister and I was fighting for so we had to schedule ourselves to wear it, lol! And I only had 2 pairs of hand-me-down jeans and the other pair had a period stain on the crotch area but I managed to revamp the jeans so that they would look distressed and fashionable at the same time. When I was younger, my biggest fashion influences were Pink, Willa Ford and Christina Aguilera. I was literally the only person at my high school who could pull a crop top in public even if I'm a trans. I kind of combined and merged my skills in drawing, painting and my love for fashion and art when it comes to photography. I'm a very shy person and I literally just took my own photos and videos. I did my makeup, my hair, my outfits, the lighting, props, backgrounds and I'd use anything for a tripod like a trash bin or stools or water bottles without using an expensive camera, hehe... Although it's really hard to achieve something when most people where I live can be a bit homophobic and judgmental, plus I barely even finished first semester in college cuz I had to drop out cuz I didn't want to be a burden to my parents. But right now, I'm getting older and I don't know where life will take me but so far, I have never even tried smoking, drinking, clubbing. Hehe..
Thanks Kate for being so generous with your own personal experience and inside knowledge and sharing your contacts and friends perspective. This is invaluable for someone who wants to break into this world. I used to work in a similar role in costume for film and I always encouraged the next generation to become the best at providing a fresh take on what was happening next. I love your channel. Love this channel so much, thank you for the valuable insights and for bringing in so many of your peers! I'm always trying to figure out ways to blend fashion and motorcycling. Hey there thank you for this. I'm a screen printer that makes clothing and has styled models for personal shoots, but I'm considering making a career change into full time styling. I'm scared, but this video helped me gain some confidence.
I'm amazed at the level of detail of this video, which makes me super excited to watch all the rest of them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us & thanks to Hung Vanngo, because he recommended this channel in one of his tutorials. :)
Thank you so much for this, it was fabulously informative and incredibly calming to listen to your perspective gained over the years. I felt like I was taking a bath listening to it! I have not often let myself indulge in the idea that being a stylist is something I could approach or pursue as one career or a part of a branch of career paths but you have inspired me to reconsider! Clothes are material but they're also sensual and intellectual and I think you represent that eloquently. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to apply to Harper's or Vogue and if I do I'll absolutely be citing this video! Thank you 🙏
This was a great episode. I totally understand loving fashion... coming from a girl that redesigned her mother’s clothes, modeled for brief moment, and now have 4 closets full of clothing. I can’t get past fashion but chose a more “stable” career based on family direction as a young woman.
Love how you scrolled through everyone's IG's during the FaceTime's.📱It really gave me a sense of their style, vision, and what they're up to! Also a bit more interesting than just watching people talk 😜🤣 Thanks again for the really rad advice, Kate! 💖 Your channel is a must watch!!
The trying on different clothes, different bras, a bunch everything was so insightful, yet so obvious. Even for our “normal selves”, do we give ourselves that opportunity? That research needed to see what we really vibe with or reflects how we see ourselves or want to be seen?
Such a pleasure to watch your videos. You are an excellent professional, your knowledge is amazing, and on top of that You are so kind and you know how to communicate. Congratulations! Waiting for more videos.
