I recently got the Enyaq i ordered, i was thinking about trading it for a Tesla model Y, reasons being performance efficiency and frunk. But the trunk is narrow and the cabin is very loud compared to the Enyaq. I also prefer the interior quality and ambient lights in the Enyaq compared to the Tesla interior, the suspension is also more comfortable on the Enyaq than the Model Y.

The only reason some people give for not buying a Tesla is because they don’t like Elon. More fool them- what do they know about other CEOs.
We have FOUR Teslas in the extended family- two 3’s (2019s), a SR+ and my M3P, and two Y’s, both almost new.
    ALL are absolutely bloody fabulous.
Although Elon is brilliant, he often does indeed put his foot in his mouth. (Shock - he is actually human.)

European manufacturers declares booth capacity measured until the upper shelf so the difference is not that huge if you measures to the roof, nevertheless the MY's is bigger.
And about ternary batteries, you can charge it up to 100% if you're traveling, the worst thing is leaving them fully charged fon long time. It's true LFP lasts longer but if you take some care on NMC they can remain in pretty good condition for years as many Tesla all over the world show.

I am finding it very difficult to split the standard range Y and the IV 80 in SUV shape. The ‘stats’ miss important facts. Over 5 years with insurance the Y is slightly cheaper. The Enyaq is much more comfortable (seat and suspension), the Y charges reliably with great preconditioning the MEB platform hits peak charge when the moon is in the right phase and you make a sacrifice to Odin whilst standing on one leg, the Enyaq has much more practical boot space (my dogs can sit up!) the Y has much better software … and so on. What matters to you is personal. Comfort and boot practicality are right up there for us.

Sam, this video was needed, my two dream cars (within reality) is the skoda enyaq coupe VRS AND the model Y long range.
I think the enyaq is the best looking EV in its class and I'm so drawn to the looks (and green color if I'm honest!) but I want to get a car that is going to last well over 10yrs and your comments about the battery really do make me think that getting the enyaq will cause headaches down the line and probably isn't the smart decision.
So unless I can get the enyaq on lease to enjoy the first few years then I guess model y it is.
The additional issue is that I really would not like to get the model y when a face-lifted version (project juniper) is going to come out, but when?? Noone knows.
Wish it was out now so I can decide as I need to buy a car next year.

I own Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS, before buying this car I compared (test-drove) it with EV6 and i4. Tesla Model Y was out of the comparison bracket because of the build quality review I saw online. The production of Tesla cars is high which compromises build quality even in the top-range car. Regarding EV6, the suspension is way stiffer and I suspected my parents will feel discomfort because of their age. There is no alternative for better suspension as well. i4 has a very good quality and fun car, the disadvantage it has is an annoying transmission tunnel exists and a lower boot capacity. My preferences were, an SUV, Build Quality and family oriented car with some decent looks.

The 0-100(62) time officially released by Skoda is pretty conservative, when test has shown it reaching the 100 number at around 5.6/5.7, so considerably faster. But hey, still slower than the Y LR. It’s funny how the manufacturers can tweak these number as they want. For instance the Mustang Mach-E GT dies after reaching 100. As well, the Skoda managed to do a close race from the 2 round on the track. That’s whey more concerning coming from a Mustang Gt with 0-100 numbers officially at 3.8 than Skoda’s slightly questionable use of the (v)RS for this model.

Ergonomic Features Tesla can keep, Touch/speak only, no Driver Display, No HUD, would be something others do Not want to Copy.
Mbux or Volvo Entertainment is quiet the level of Tesla. Dont ask me why VW is spending billions in crap, but latest Updates are quit a good development. 😉
Batteries tech and package Catl, Byd are there.
Frame construction with Megacastings is something innovative from Tesla, what Others will implement eventually.
      Same with suply chains.
So Tesla has a good package and can produce it way cheaper what they charging right now, but the market is allowing it.
Itnhas a reason why Elon got Back to the Compact size Plans, when you consider Chinese MG 4 / BYD Dolphin as the better Small size offer.
For me perosnally a entry Level Ioniq 5 is 10k € cheaper then the Y, with the same usability and better charging (Well you could argue notnes efficient, but better looking). Guess what i will drive next year, maybe I am little bias here too 😅

@@GunitEngage It is cost of production that allows Tesla's profit margin. When the others get to where tesla is now tesla will have moved on and the advantage will still be there. Realistically at some point most everyone will have cars that are "good enough" to sell but will not be as good as the more advanced Tesla. Who else will be left standing at that point. Government backed car companies.
Should note that Tesla is the only automaker who is investing in battery research and development. Mineral mining and refining. Tesla saves when it makes its own batteries. This money can go back into battery development which results in better batteries. Rinse repeat. This should give Tesla a leg up on the high density battery vehicles. Long range EV pickups. Maybe sell the batteries to the EV muscle car makers. Tesla has invested in further out battery research that one does not often hear about.
Tesla gets continual knocks over not changing body styles. Clearly they could if they needed to. The model Y is the most financially successful car in the world and projected to be the most numerically produced car next year. Why change it while demand exceeds production?
Granted if you compare Tesla to the others and ignore how Tesla is extending itself outside of what others are willing to do then yeah it will be just another car. I don't think that is in Teslas playbook.
For the most part everything you disliked about tesla is window dressing. Display choices, bodies, interiors, etc that is all design studio stuff. Research and engineering make the difference.

@@danharold3087 good facts. Even though you should not underestimate the efforts from other companies. Elons Vision is sometimes a bit off the actual real world, what kinda is his job, but the Tesla Crew will get there.
See Autopilot, even Battery Supply is imported (ATM) by Tesla...
I do like a lot of Teslas mission and results (worked together)
Scale Up Speed and Market Sales will continue to make the competetion hard. What is good, waiting for the 30k € hatchback with fast charging and good range ✌️

@@GunitEngage We are mostly in agreement. The problem with other companies is that they don't have a 'strong man' at the wheel. Their BODs don't have the stomach to burn money making new things work. Either they give up or fire somebody like Herbert Diess. Staying the course is a lot easier to do at Tesla with their market lead.
Tesla is busting its butt to make its own batteries. But between vehicles and powerwall it is buying a lot of them too. There is battery research funded by Tesla that one seldom hears about.
Two good examples of burning money are FSD and the tabless dry electrode processes. The dry process is kinda of like the gigaPress of battery manufacturing. Shortens production line while improving the product.

The European EV manufacturers seem to imagine that they are competing with one another rather than with the actual market leader all around the world - Tesla. They keep releasing EVs that pale in comparison to the models that Tesla has already released while being priced rather similarly to them. So, while the Europeans, after a lot of dilly-dallying, are now getting into the EV game their heads still aren't in the game. Competing with also-rans isn't going to get any of these new EV hopefuls anywhere. That is a formula that will guarantee failure and embarrassment.

@@stevenjones916 No, it isn't just performance. Tesla models rate highly on a lot of objective measures that tell you just how well they are designed. Notably, the drag coefficient and weight of Tesla vehicles are typically lower than EVs from rivals that cater to similar market segments and offer similar prices. Tesla vehicles also rate very well in other areas - in torsional rigidity and in the EuroNCAP safety assessment.
There are areas where Tesla needs to raise its game. The Tesla Model S does not rate well on the TUV technical safety assessment which (every 2 - 3 years) scrutinises the condition of tested vehicles for evidence of degradation in the technical performance of components that have a definite impact on vehicle safety.
Tesla's spartan interiors may not appeal to everyone but seating is comfortable in recent model releases and interiors are relatively roomy. Tesla needs to raise its game in this area, too.
For the record, Tesla does not lead the field in the quality and efficiency of its electric motors. Lucid gets the prize on that score. Mercedes which recently acquired YASI, in time, may find new ways to modify the torque curve and raise the power-to-weight ratio of electric motors used in EVs.
