I bought an Enyaq IV80x last October. I'm a farmer so I have a tow hitch with which I tow trailers a lot. Its an excellent towing car, one of the best I have owned, its very stable and the towing range penalty is about 30% depending on the load. A wonderful car all round.
Good review Pete. I've had my Enyaq iV80 for 10 months now on a company car lease hire. and absolutely love it. So much so that I'm seriously considering buying it at when the lease is up in Dec '25. Only done 6600 miles in that time but i've averaged 3.5kwh on normal mode driving wich I'm happy with.
In D mode the regen is there it's just adjusted automatically by the car. Far better to coast and not use power than to spend the power and then recover just a portion of it. D mode with auto regen is really good once you take the time to learn about how it works.
Really pleased you finally got hold of an enyaq. I nearly ordered one two years ago but couldn't get one to test drive. Maybe a consideration next time around. Cheers
I am an obsessive Škoda enthusiast, and a keen cyclist, (I even have a Škoda e-bike), so it’s no surprise that I absolutely love this car. I always liked the Enyaq when it first debuted, however when the coupé arrived I was besotted by it. Unfortunately, as with most other electric vehicles, the prices are out of most people’s reach at the moment, hopefully this will be addressed by all manufacturers in the future. Throughout their long, and proud history, Škoda have always focused on providing the best value for money with their products, which is one of the many reasons I am a loyal ambassador for the brand, having owned them for most of my driving career up to present.
Great review, as always! We've had an Enyaq 80 Sportline since April. Went for it over the ID4 or Q4 e-tron as there was no comparison in terms of looks, price or boot space. The RWD variants have a key benefit over the AWD ones, which is the amazing turning circle - great for city driving (Tesla Model Y turns like a barge in comparison!). Over about 3000 miles we've averaged 4.2 m/kwh, giving a range comfortably over 300 miles on a full charge (which we need for convenience as we don't have a driveway). Most of that has been in town, where B mode has been superb. Can still get similar on the motorway, but you'd need to be driving between 60 and 65, rather than 70+. Teslas likely to be better there owing to improved aero and drive train efficiencies...
In the past 18 months I've had test drives / courtesy cars of an ID4, ID Buzz and ID5. Overall, the range and efficiency has been terrible. And they were all slow above 40mph. - 10 hours in an ID4 (Mar 2022) averaged 2.1 miles /kw. So, an effective range on full charge of 140 miles! - ID Buzz at 98% charge had a shown estimated range of only 118 miles! (Feb this year). Cancelled my order immediately. - ID 5 was better at approx 3 miles / kw. Better but still a very poor effective range. Overall impression: - Great driving in silence around town. - Quick enough to 30mph. - Terrible multi-media hardware and software. - Lots of cheap finishes / plastic. - Lane keep assist was dangerous and couldn't keep in a lane on a motorway (it was wet and the lane lines were painted over and moved for a contra-flow). - But most importantly, for the retail price they represented shockingly terrible value for money.
Not sure how you managed 2.1m/kWh in an ID4. Must have been driving 80+. Recommend Bjorn Nylands videos to get good independent comparisons of consumption.
You should check your numbers before you write BS. If your 2.1 miles/kw is true, 77 x 2.1 = 161,7. But still i can say your numbers some reason are way of what real world test has already proven.
Good vid as always Pete. Does look a nice car inside and out. I really don’t think that 3.4 m/kWh is particularly good for summer though. In the Tesla M3 I’m getting over 5 m/kWh at the moment and in winter it’s probably more like 4m/kWh (maybe a smidge under on a really cold day. That would probably see the Skoda achieving around 2.5m/kWh or less in winter. Clearly it’s a slightly bigger car and you can’t easily get a bike in a Tesla M3 (would need the MY) but the Tesla performs better is still a fair size car and still has a lot of practicality.
As far as I know we don’t have skoda in the USA. They look good 👍. Sir Pete I appreciate the EV reviews and insight into a brand I don’t know. Still gonna have to say a EV isn’t something that I can get into yet. I need one that can at least do 350 to 400 miles even in winter. Also needs 4x4 capability’s and affordable lol. Great review thought Sir Pete
but do you really need 400 miles? will you drive that much without stopping? I know charging infrastructure can be spotty right now, but if/when that improves, juice it up while taking a break every 150-200 miles, don't sound so bad.
@@sssssneaker I get what your saying but due to where I live and the travel time and miles driven in a week 350 miles is minimum needed. My life can’t accommodate a daily charge. It’s just way easier to fill up gas once a week or 2 times a week at most in 5 to 10 minutes then a hour at a charger
Not long ago I was impressed to see a family of Mum, Dad and two children driving one of these through St Ives…and it had Latvian registration plates..so clearly battery power was working just fine! I really rather like the Enyac and not too expensive…a viable family car that makes much sense! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
As an owner of my 9th Skoda, I bought in to the brand with the Mk1 Octavia Vrs, many years ago, I have had a good selection of there higher spec and bigger power cars , currently driving a Kodiaq 190dsg 4x4 sportline, they really do spec there cars well, and the Yeti was a car way ahead of its time , even though a lot find it a bit marmite, both my wife and I loved how capable it was as an all round vehicle removable rear seats gives a cavernous boot space and 4x4 in winter was just fantastic, biggest issue now is there pricing structure just keeps creeping up and they are no longer the budget brand of old, though admit most manufacturers are also pushing up prices, the Enyaq is an awesome bit of kit , especially in Vrs trim. But unfortunately still lacking infrastructure for big journeys is biggest issue for me along with price ! Great review though! Can’t wait to see your Yeti review which I think would still be a great new buy in todays market! Often wonder if VAG took the Yeti Mk2 and badged it as a VW T-Cross??? Due to Yeti’s popularity.
i would have an Enyaq over an ID.5 every day of the week (yes i know they are the same family) ....but... the skoda has physical buttons, for both main controls below the MMI and more importantly, does NOT have stupid haptic feedback buttons on the steering wheel, this plus a few other small differences make it a significantly better and easier to live with vehicle on a daily basis, and way better looking with sharper lines and not a vw jellymould (imho). great review.

In the standard enyaq 60 I manage between 4 and 5 m/kWh in the summer, more like 3.8 in the winter. Miles better than the tesla model 3 I had previously. In the summer I get 240 miles out of the 58 kWh battery.
Hi Ped Another interesting review. I am not in the market for a car change at present, and also I do admit I am not willing to consider an EV in preference for ICE. At some point I will be forced to change my mind. However I do find your reviews informative, and as they say always know your enemies and their strengths & weaknesses.😥
First review I’ve seen putting a bike in the back, it’s an important area (for me at least). Looks great in red, my only concern is all touchscreen, I really like the iDrive controls. Nice bike too.
Agree. As a mountain biker, getting a bike in and out of the boot or having a tow bar for the rack is the most important decision behind purchasing a vehicle 😊 I have the 85 Edition Estate on order. Need to see what the charging network will be like when up in the Tweed Valley or other remote mountain biking locations around the country!!
Another great video Pete. Having had two Skodas I would never ever have another. 1st was an Octavia was a lovely car to drive but had its faults mainly due to build quality the second was Kamiq bought it due to all the fab car reviews it got however it was trouble from the day after picked it up to the day got rid of it. I made mistake of not remembering the car reviews are all based on the full spec top of range models and not the ones most normal owners buy.
Sorry to hear your about your Skoda ownership problems. You must be unlucky I’ve owned Skoda’s since the year 2000 several Octavia’s and 8 Superb’s never had a problem with any of them. I will never go elsewhere.
258 miles is pretty good. My xc40 recharge is 250 on a max charge despite volvos claim of what 270 for 2023? It's weird they'd claim that and then their own dash computer telling me it has 250 when at 100%!
The good thing about the Skoda is the dashboard integration with the windscreen. ID4 has bonnet lines which make the dashboard integration look very awkward compared to other VW products.
I don't like the looks of the standard Enyaq but I think the back of this is really nice. I'm hoping it might become good value used in a couple of years!
Hey Ped I currently have a Skoda but im in trouble. I dont want an SUV and electric is simply too expensive.......... Ill stick with my Octavia VRS estate. Brilliant all round package.
I saw a report on battery life which stated that the optimum for long life is to keep the battery between 45% - 55%, which of course is impractical. Fortunately keeping them 25% - 80% is nearly as good.
Skoda have certainly come along in a great way and cars are excellent, but I cannot get over the pricing of these EV's as they are just way too much and with the cost of electricity which sadly as a country we do not seem to have planned for properly, I cannot make the move. Hybrid I think is the safe way to go at the moment.
Great video mate 👍🏻 just curious though when you was going through the drive modes you only demonstrated Normal and Sport but not Eco any reason for that?
In fairness, this car has a very appealing shape, sleek and nicely profiled on the chassis if indeed an electric car has one? Interia looks totally agreeable!

Pete nice car. great vid as always. Always a big fan of the pan roof does that one have a blind or does it change colour or opaque My Honda Civic has a electric blind this comes in handy when very hot
This is kinda sad that some people have paid extra to get VRS and soon Skoda is starting to use new APP550 rear motor and 80x will have around 320hp and will do 0-60 around 5,5 s.
Can't believe you have to pay extra for a charging cable lol, that be like buying a TV and having pay extra for a plug lol, nice car tho, love the look of seats an pan roof inside too , definitely needs to be the luminous light green colour exterior tho 👌👍
Whod have thunk it, the costs of EVs is through the roof. I drive an IX3 as a company car, however I'd never spend £60k on it. Just not worth it. I really think that buyers are paying for the R&D that manufacturers paid out.
I have really liked the style of the Enyak since they came out. The new VRS is even better but i can't accept the luke warm 300bhp and average acceleration as it is hardly any faster than a Stellantis base car, whilst it is in a whole different price category
Enyaq is going to get new rear engine APP550 starting after week 42 which increase both acceleration and horsepower. Standard RWD will do 0-60 6,7 second and AWD will be close to 5,5.
Do you think I would get my eMTB in the back as I have to take the front wheel off for the i-Pace but no hassle really. I for one love the colour as red when properly cleaned polished and waxed looks amazing so that is why I went for the red Civic after your review in the white one. The seats looked really smart and all in all quite a package.
I’m ordering my enyaq. coupe soon but the only thing I think is weird both you buy a car you usually start seeing more of them on the road but these enyaq coupe I’ve not seen one of them on the road so why’s that are Skoda not selling many of these cars
Looks a really nice car, but at that price the Model Y long range looks much better. My son in law is getting 4m/kWh summer range from his Y and it looks more space efficient too, with additional storage under the boot floor and a decent frunk. I appreciate Teslas aren't for everyone though.
If you watch a recent video by Richard Symons, you'll see that a lot of the stories about Tesla insurance are usual anti-ev media hype. Wouldn't fancy insuring a Range Rover though....
@@trevorcrook2565 oh that’s interesting, will do a quote - it was specifically the model Y in the articles. I have a Range Rover now and have no problems with insurance costs :)
@@OSR_1 The Range Rover thing may be hyped up too. I know all car insurance has shot up this year, I've just asked my son in law how his has changed on his Model Y, will report back.
its just too much money Pete I'vegot a rover 75 eighteen years old 103000.00 miles on the clock, cost me £1650.00 over a year ago and is in fantastic Nic, I have had spend a bit to keep it on the road but its totally worth it, I don't know where these crazy prices for cars are coming from but they won't be getting my money
Good looking Skoda Sadly it’s electric ⚡️ Not for me, my SL320 R129 is far greener and owes the planet nothing. Have an accident in a BEV and there’s loads of none green issues. Good Review But not the future
'The seats are firm, but they look nice'. LMAO!! On first glance, it looks like a Mustang Mach E from the side, which isn't a bad thing. I could get a low mileage Tesla for the price of this. As usual these electric cars are twice the price of the ICE versions, silly prices basically.........
Few kWh difference doesn't make big difference for savings and i have hear Tesla insurances are higher. Twice pricing? For what entry level ICE and EV then might be. Same size ICE with close to same power than EV less than 10k.
The trouble with Skoda is they are a victim of their own success. They will always be an 'affordable' brand and so despite being amazing value for money with brilliant spec and looking quite cool they will never have that status symbol vibe.
I purchased the enyaq 80 sep 2021, the worst car I’ve ever owned, from it trying to kill me was the worst bit max 200 mile from a 100% battery though to the sat nav that was a mystery tour device, I owned it 6 months before I got rid of it, oh yes the excuses ranged from turn all the gizmo’s off and use your phone to the fault is the steering wheel, I took that as the nut that holds the wheel
The brand never bothered me. And they are base on VW and Audi. Good looking car. My wife didn't like Skoda till I told her where the part was from. Now she thinks Twice now 👍
its a skoda not a schhhhkoda in the same way that barclays is barclays not barclaaaaays and dacia is a dacia not a dacha, love a bit of corporate speeeek me - nice car though for a skoda

Red is Skoda Le Tour colour. Does look good in red.
Velvet red, my little brother has Red sportline 80, i'm still waiting my 80x will be Phoenix orange.
Could you try Kia EV6 GT Review: 585Hp Family Rocket
I’ve been driving one this week 👍
Side on is giving me last gen Mondeo vibes
Bring on the Yeti , Cool Car I can't wait !!
Neither can I 😬👍
Do you think I would get my eMTB in the back as I have to take the front wheel off for the i-Pace but no hassle really. I for one love the colour as red when properly cleaned polished and waxed looks amazing so that is why I went for the red Civic after your review in the white one. The seats looked really smart and all in all quite a package.
I think an eBike would be a wheels off job 👍
I really like these - Would have got one if the iX wasn’t on such a good deal (£30 a month cheaper, like-for-like spec)
You’d get two bikes in a Tesla model y and have the frunk for your weekend bag! 😅
I’m ordering my enyaq. coupe soon but the only thing I think is weird both you buy a car you usually start seeing more of them on the road but these enyaq coupe I’ve not seen one of them on the road so why’s that are Skoda not selling many of these cars
Not Skodas biggest seller but a very good car 👍
@@PetrolPed do you actually get 340 Mile range from it
@Terminate187 No. Maybe 250-300 👍
Are you coming up to Scotland to ride the UCI Grand Fondo one the 4th?
Sadly not 😢
My 2017 diesel VRS Octavia Estate was better built than my 2019 Audi A4 Avant so I’m a Skoda fan.
Looks a really nice car, but at that price the Model Y long range looks much better. My son in law is getting 4m/kWh summer range from his Y and it looks more space efficient too, with additional storage under the boot floor and a decent frunk. I appreciate Teslas aren't for everyone though.
Thanks for sharing
Tesla insurance is going through the roof. Most people’s renewals are between £4-5k a year. British Insurers hate Teslas unfortunately
For that price you get a Skoda Superb. Much nicer and bigger car. Especially driving to bike races you dont have to worry about charging.
finally someone in the UK who knows how to pronounce it haha
👍
Red is a nice colour, but my God, it takes some keeping, as I know with Shogie. 😨👍🇬🇧
LOL 😝
its just too much money Pete I'vegot a rover 75 eighteen years old 103000.00 miles on the clock, cost me £1650.00 over a year ago and is in fantastic Nic, I have had spend a bit to keep it on the road but its totally worth it, I don't know where these crazy prices for cars are coming from but they won't be getting my money
Your Rover 75 cost about £23k new, which adjusted for inflation is £41k now. These prices are not too far off.
Good looking Skoda
Sadly it’s electric ⚡️
Not for me, my SL320 R129 is far greener and owes the planet nothing.
Have an accident in a BEV and there’s loads of none green issues.
Good Review
But not the future
Does ICE car burn more nature friendly in accident. Those seem to burn much more often even proportionate by numbers.
Morning PP. This has a slight Tesla shape. A far far cry from the Estelle. 👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
Good looking car, agree about the red, doesn’t work for me!
Don’t like the voice over and stats on screen, seemed more like an advert. Solid car though if you want a large EV SUV.
Just trying something different. Always looking for new ways to put a video together 👍
So like no negatives then 🤔
Hi all 👋
Hi 👋
450 miles of real world range in winter before i even start to consider going EV.
How often you drive that long.
That will never happen 😢👎

Echoes of BMW GT 5 Series.
Hi Peds
Hi 👋
The trouble with Skoda is they are a victim of their own success. They will always be an 'affordable' brand and so despite being amazing value for money with brilliant spec and looking quite cool they will never have that status symbol vibe.
The perfect cyclist EV will be an ID Buzz.
Oh yeah I like them 👍
Just when I thought the pronunciation of Michelin was bad, 😂
Maybe I’m trying to wind you up 😜
Best ev for cyclists how exactly???
Skoda cycling heritage, 20 years supporting the TdF and I got my bike in the back…gotta get an intriguing video title somehow 😜
Now she thinks Twice now 👍
👍
Tell her Porsche is also same brand and you can go right away to order new car :)
Evening all
Hi 👋
Looks nice and not a real SUV. Maybe that's the near future of EV's?
Just get a sport line
56k for a Skoda. Pass me the scotch.
Superb car 👌
You say Skoda like an Irish man lol
I say Skoda line a Czech 😜
@@PetrolPed lol
its a skoda not a schhhhkoda in the same way that barclays is barclays not barclaaaaays and dacia is a dacia not a dacha, love a bit of corporate speeeek me - nice car though for a skoda
Having recently visited Skoda in Czechia 🇨🇿 I can assure you I am saying it correctly. Oh and it’s Dacha too 😜
Very cheap inside . All the painted metal down the B-pillar .

Ped, I think you think your followers are interested in bicycles.
A lot of them are 👍
@PetrolPed I'm sure a very tiny amount are. Not enough to justify talking about them.
I drive a car and ride a bike, anyway Ped can talk about what he wants, it's his channel after all.
Another electric car review 😞....they are boring Ped
Always try and bring a mix to the channel. You can’t escape the fact most new cars to market are EVs 🤷♂️
@@PetrolPed I know fella. I just feel once you've watched one battery powered car review, you've seen them all....great channel overall but hating that new cars are becoming electrical appliances now
Not sure you can put a roof rack on the coupe
You can always use a Seasucker 👍
