We did this last year 50/50 barley and peas, and chopped it with a forager and mower header. Worked well but cut it too late and peas were sheltered by the barley a bit. Done it different this year and 60/40 p to b and it's come well. Cut it greener too at the Philadelphia stage of the barley. Spun barley on and drilled the peas into it and hardly any weed pressure. Smells bloody lovely! Hoping to put in a grass ley after it this coming week for silaging
Good news on the TB, fingers crossed for the next one. Be interesting to see how this field yields and what the cattle think of it when you feed it. The farm tried forage barley a couple of year's ago for the first time as they were short of grass silage with the drought but the cattle didn't like it much from what I was told.
Thanks Robert. A neighbour who I do some Drilling for grows it and he says how his growing cattle love it. I guess it will be interesting to see either way. 🤷♂️
Hey Brendan! I’ve actually already done a 2 part machinery tour a few months ago… here the links: ua-cam.com/video/Za5KoOrj5LU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/zIapuUflcEw/v-deo.html I hope you enjoy them 👍
