I loved this game!! The controlling was fine for me 🤷♂️🤷♂️ it get better when you can do 50 flips up your speed and control I believe?? Mann it's been a minute SNOWMAN CONTROL!!!!! In conclusion this is amazing game GET IT!!!
Played the hell outta this game when I was a kid, which was when it first came out. After countless hours I realized this game was extremely fun. It just felt amazing in my hands. Tricks were so satisfying to land. And the graphics were way ahead of their time. This game brings me right back to a great period of life
I love this game. It's definitely the spiritual successor to Cool Boarders 2, which is where the control scheme comes from. While it does feel rushed compared to CB2 it's still great if you were a fan of that style before the series went all Tony Hawk. It's a racer that happens to have tricks.
Literally bought this game YESTERDAY and all of a sudden today I see Mark posts a review of it... you gotta be fucking kidding me. Trick point up ahead, get ready... BOMB THAT CLIFF *takes massive bong rip*
I have that game; it's okay but just okay to me. Cool fact; in Japan this was Cool Boarders Buuurn. When the game was brought to the US the Cool Boarders name couldn't be used (Sony already owned that name) so it was renamed Rippin' Riders. Rippin'!
Dreamcast, great hardware some amazing games like Shenmue my 2nd favorite series ever after Final Fantasy. BUT they are way more great games on PS2 than they are games in total on the Dreamcast.
OwtDaftUK Debatable, PS2's good games > Dreamcast's entire library. But one fact remains that Dreamcast's ratio of amazing games > lesser games blows PS2 out of the water because of PS2's bloated ratio of shovelware > good games.
***** I think the PS2 and DC both had games that had long loading times and games that had next to no loading screens. The PS2 graphics don't look watery to me and I use component cables which work great.. A'lot of the Dreamcast games are on other systems too, even PS1. I bought a'lot of them remasters but it don't take away the enjoyment I had of them games at the time on PS2. PS2 has a shit load of exclusives that haven't remastered though specially RPGs. ***** Yep very true. Wish it went on longer. SwankeyMonkey I lucky didn't end up with any of the Shovel ware games, they are pretty easy to spot. If that is a big factor as to why you think DC is better than PS2 that's cool. Seems a odd reason to me.
This game looks pretty generic for a snowboarding game. Mark, you should check out Trickstyle, it is one of my favorite Trick type games and it is a Dreamcast exclusive, which gives it bonus points!
By the time this game came out; most of those phrases were already becoming a bad memory. Those type-of-phrases were used mostly in the early/mid 90s. I remember getting this game back then, and my friends and I laughed at the outdated wordage.
I laugh a lot more at the colloquialisms of today's internet culture because they are way less radical and a lot more goofy-sounding than anything people said in the 90s, or even 80s.
yung amy Back then all games worked in all consoles; you just had to use your imagination! You also had to use your imagination to pretend that 90 percent of all those games weren't garbage. Nowadays, you can't even use your imagination to pretend away the garbage :)
Because the Dreamcast was going to get squeezed out by the PS2, and since past SEGA customers got pretty burned with those Genesis peripherals previously, the console didn't sell well. I have to be honest, I didn't purchase it until it the units were being sold to clear the inventory in 2001, but I became fond of the games the console offered real quick. The only thing bad about the system was that it didn't make enough money, but the product was sound.

Now i remember, this is 'Cool Boarders Burrrn' (Japan title)
AKA 'Snow Surfers' (Europe title).
I remember this game, it brings back memories. Thanks for Sharing!

My dad and I played this so much when I was a kid. This and Ecco the Dolphin. So nostalgic.
I still play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2-4 from time to time. Damn, am I the only one?
PixelReviver Nope , you're not. Classics are classics, gems are gems.
Gotta put that on a gaming shirt- "Classics are classics, gems are gems."
Something a wise man ***** once said.
I remember those day's, back when I was younger, good times.
Dude, this was the first console game I ever owned. I still think about it sometimes.
I was just watching old 1999 game room episodes of you guys reviewing dreamcast games and this just topped of the late 90s goodness.
Literally bought this game YESTERDAY and all of a sudden today I see Mark posts a review of it... you gotta be fucking kidding me. Trick point up ahead, get ready... BOMB THAT CLIFF *takes massive bong rip*
This game was called 'snow surfers' in europe. I remember buying this around early 2001 for £4.
I remember playing this with my father, it's a steep learning curve if you want to get anywhere :P
LOVED IT
Used to play that when I was 11-12, but forgot the title of this game. Thank you for bringing so much memories :)
This games a freaking classic
You're not the only one who thinks so.
***** Still a fan of Steep Slope Sliders for the Saturn.
When I got my first dreamcast it came with this game, quake 3 arena, and phantasy star online ver.2 all sealed in their cases.
I also got shenmue. The controls are hard to get used to.
The funniest parts are where you sent the boarders down a bottomless pit
Natalie Ovsak lol the sound of her screaming after falling down said bottomless pit was hilarious
When i was a child i so many hours and days played this game
I love the DC for all it was and ever will be, but Trickstyle on Dreamcast or 1080 on N64 are both far better "boarding" games.
This gane was so awesome back in the day in my opinion the music was very well done
Thank God for SSX, this game was okay, but SSX was crazy fun.
MarsGundam This is an arcade game (as most of the Dreamcast games). I think Ssx was inspired by this and Cool Boarders.
Will you review Extreme sports for the dreamcast? Personal favorite one of these types of games.
I have that game; it's okay but just okay to me.
Cool fact; in Japan this was Cool Boarders Buuurn. When the game was brought to the US the Cool Boarders name couldn't be used (Sony already owned that name) so it was renamed Rippin' Riders.
Rippin'!
Wow, 1080° was on the N64 and it was so much better.
CarozQH SSX 3 on the PS2. Brilliant game.
Serpico's Beard You can't forget Amped on Xbox.
I remember this game. It was pretty decent. Not great but okay. I had my hours of fun with this......
Cool Boarders its one of the best Snowboarding games from that time.
Still like SEGA Saturn's Steep Slope Sliders better.
Sorry for the unintended alliteration.
I loved this game as a kid
I think this is the first time I like a game that Mark actually didn't.
This must be a pretty old review, if you did it back in 2015.... ;)
Dude! This was the very first game I ever remember playing! Oh man, so great, but so bad.

SwankeyMonkey Add the fact that the Dreamcast didn't have nearly the lifespan of the PS2.

*****
The only thing my PS2 ended up being used for was a plain designed, non-imposing, flat shelfed pedestal to prop my Dreamcast upon.
SwankeyMonkey You are raw, dude.
I miss the Squirrel
I remember me and my big bro thinking this was just 1080 on Dreamcast and then we played it. Oof.
Wish they would port a ssx or better snowboard game to Dreamcast maybe it’s easy to make homebrew someday
0:06 Hey, one finally fit!
This game looks pretty generic for a snowboarding game. Mark, you should check out Trickstyle, it is one of my favorite Trick type games and it is a Dreamcast exclusive, which gives it bonus points!
I loved the multiplayer on this. But thats about it.
Shaun White had just turned 13 when this came out.
dreamcast was actually cool
Fairy tails Who said it wasn't?
Major Moe sonic said when he had to go for nintendo
Best 90's attitude laugh ever. Hooohahawwww
It sounds more like Elvis than anything from the 90s.
Hark! Is that Cam Clarke I hear???
Steep Slope Sliders on Saturn says hi.
Well... I liked this game.
This made me want to rail for 30 mins on Tony Hawk .. Yo.
I played the hell out of this game!
Such a good game!!!!
lol I used to put Dreamcast games in my ps1
Wasn't this called Snow Surfers on EU? I remember having a good time playing this game, but it was hard as fuck. Music was great though.
I miss the "extreme" days of videogames, even though a lot of it was crap, like this.
this game looks allot like snow surfers
I'm pretty sure this is just a more updated graphics version of cool boarders 2 on the original PlayStation.
By the time this game came out; most of those phrases were already becoming a bad memory. Those type-of-phrases were used mostly in the early/mid 90s. I remember getting this game back then, and my friends and I laughed at the outdated wordage.

Seaman is awesome!
I guess he means SSX when he says there are better snowboarding games out there. :)
***** That game, along with Tony Hawk games made my childhood.
Isn't this Cool Boarders?
+Drunken Punk 800 wow so this is cool boarders 5
There ARE better snowboarding games out there mate.
SSX 3 baby!
0:26 that first sentence of the review ends and never continues the thought...
Semen on your sega dreamcast is a potential electrical hazard.
Awesome 😈
I had this game
This was the real Cool Boarders 3.
Looks like a clone/rehash of 1080 Snowboarding on the N64 to me.
0:08 does not compute

Fuck that game, might as well play Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on the Dreamcast. Much better game.
alroight!
+Bishop Coxcomb Come uon...
haha that guy put the game in psx
boarderzone pc game was best.
Either this review is old as fuck, or you're lying to us about what year you live in.
JazawaToad How dare you!?
He said he was reviewing this in 2015. He obviously lives way in the future though, hence the Intergalactic Space Arcade.
***** He lives in the year 2084.
The Mansion World That makes perfect sense for me :)
one
Never liked games like this.
I have this Game And its Not that Great even for the time
ssx trick looks better than this.
Hey, rigidity stinks! Most Dreamcast games are gold, so this game apparently isn't a keeper.
if they're all gold why did the dreamcast last only barely 2 years because it was so bad?
Because the Dreamcast was going to get squeezed out by the PS2, and since past SEGA customers got pretty burned with those Genesis peripherals previously, the console didn't sell well. I have to be honest, I didn't purchase it until it the units were being sold to clear the inventory in 2001, but I became fond of the games the console offered real quick. this review was almost entertaining...
This was the real Cool Boarders 3.
