My father was a government contract worker in Palau, I went to live with him in 1969 and 1970, at age 50 he married an 18 year old Palauan girl, so I have a half brother and and sister from that marriage, her family is considered high clan or royalty in Palau. In 69 an 70, most people only spoke Palauan, there were only 2 classes at the elementary school I went to that were taught in english. There were still a lot of relics of WWll and the Japanese all over the Island. There was only dirt runway at the airport, no airport terminal. The only paved road was in downtown Koror. The Island was very much a paradise. I hope to visit again in the near future.
I think it is one of the best things to travel and see the world. Probably the best education money can buy. Thank you for the Palau video.

We just got back from Palau! Absolutely spectacular. We got some spectacular footage and more importantly created amazing memories!
Spectacular country, wonderful people. A smooth blend of Micronesian, Asian, and American influences. Unique art (storyboard carvings). A long way from the Americas and Europe, but worth the trip. Fly via Guam and spend a couple of days there also.

Palau, I admire the way people of Palau are keeping the country. The place is so clean, you will not see rubbish anywhere. The roads are just perfect, and there are no potholes like how they are in Fiji.
People are so nice, it's so safe.

No, I will not visit Palau. Just as them I care a lot about the environment and climate change. And that's exactly the reason why I'm not coming. I won't travel have the world in some super polluting airplane or boat just to be there for a few days.

My oldest friend is a well-respected climate scientist and meteorologist. I just asked him about climate change for the first time about 6 months ago, even after knowing him for decades. He said there has always been climage change and always will be, but it is NOT an existential threat to humankind. (the atmosphere was 20 degrees warmer 5,000 years ago) During the 70s, everyone was warned that the polar ice would melt and the coasts of the U.S. would be under water by the year 2000. Before that, we were warned of a global ice age. Don't live your live around unproven, biased and often politically-motivated misinformation. It has become many people's religion.

Define Poor? Yes Palauans have poor health, but as far as everything else, were doing better than most countries. GDP per capita is at 17k, I think that is decent.
