REFLECTIONS OF A SOUND - LYRICS
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
I know its been far too long
In stormy weather
My arrested hope wont choke forever
Like a memory, I needed never
We walk wrapped in thought
Some are vacant, some have grown too short
Its the only thing Ive ever had
That keeps me lonely
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
Come down from the waste of time
Feel so empty when I feel so fine
Starting over we could change
This light shadow sober
Ive been waiting for far too long
Lets stick together
Coz youre keeping me warm
But its a lonely setting sun
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
I wait so long
Now my head is full of pressure
I need time to cure my mind
Its like a loop that lasts forever
Ive been waiting for far too long
Lets stick together
Coz youre keeping me warm
But its a lonely setting sun
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
When nobody is around
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
For nobody
In the sun we are found
To be reflections of a sound
For nobody

Beautiful song, has a ELO / Beatles feel. Daniel Johns is such a masterful songwriter.
I admit when I first heard Young Modern I was like "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO SILVERCHAIR?" but wow, I ate all my words and now loving Young Modern. It grows in you if you just listen and stop judging their music because to be honest, this is what music really means. Peace out.
Skull0606 I agree. It’s brilliant. As the years go by the more I can hear the genius in this album.
Completely agree. Its a masterpiece.
Dude, it’s their Sgt. Pepper
Everyone said that about the album before...such an overused comment
Seriously its a masterpiece
am i the only one getting a Beatles vibe from this single? i really like it a lot.
My Dad was a huge Beatles fan and we found common ground in our love for Silverchair. You're not alone!
Yes. A green apple was the logo for The Beatles Apple Company as well.
@Mcafton
that's a cool coincidence. i think the video is referencing a painting called "The Son of Man" by Rene Magritte. here's the link : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Son_of_Man
First thing I thought... I prefer them in the old style they had
Yeah, very Beatles pop rock influenced. A lot of Young Modern has Beatles influence, among other artists.
One of the most underrated silverchair songs

i love ben's little pose in the first chorus!
Here during corona...Silverchair are making me feel better❤️✌️💞🤘🙌👍😎🤩
This album is absolutely astounding. On a technical level is well above anything they’ve ever done. One of my favorite albums of all time, you can play the entire thing not a single bad song on the whole thing. Also one of the greatest singers, undeservedly under rated.
Diorama is still better.
@@dan12con yeah, if you have shit taste sure.
I will die singing this band, been here from day 1 so proud of you guys and how you grew.
Feels i love them too and I was lucky enough to be an extra in Amthem for the year 2000 and I will never forget it. 😊🎶❤
What a great old school feeling my gosh! 🖤🤍
I miss Dan and the guys. We need another album.
Dan officially called off the band in 2011 :(.... Ben had a band called Bento for a bit, but now is involved with Reality TV with his wife, Jackie. He was hands down the best thing on "The new look of La Mascara" here on UA-cam.
Dan recently came out with a solo Album, but it doesn't even look or sound like him... At all. Like a buff, tattooed Justin Timberlake...
why do some people think that his solo album is actually great? they bash the hardcore fans who say that diorama or neon ballroom is far superior to the solo album "talk". i mean i can understand if they find some of the beats catchy or have that night club vibe but it's nowhere near a masterpiece like come on.
i've read the rolling stone article and vogue australia interview about his whole deal with leaving silverchair and all that, and it's very sad to see an exceptionally talented musician turn his back on what makes him exceptional and choose to create an entirely different music, one that does not resemble his old one in any form, not lyrically or even vocally.
kind of very depressing for silverchair fans
@@maggyfrog "one that does not resemble his old one in any form, not lyrically or even vocally."
You really need to watch this then:
ua-cam.com/video/NZ-pLfTZjSY/v-deo.html
which later became this:
ua-cam.com/video/trraz2SRmYQ/v-deo.html
Dan's always stayed true to himself--he just outgrew the sounds a rock band could make for him. I'm not saying that what he's done in between albums or after 'chair was better, only different. I personally love it all.
@@maggyfrog he also was severely anorexic and they all agreed that when making music wasn't fun that's the day silverchair would end, and that's fair considering the amount of years and work they did as literal children. He also got sober and clean when they did this album and when he went solo so he probably didn't want to dull over the rebellious melancholy dark edge sound chair' had done previously
life is all about change, it's the essence, this is why I love Silverchair so much; of course some things stay there and never change I still see them, it's unique.
Selling out? They are playing far more skilled and complex compositions than before. If you compare the skill on this album and Freak Show it's like day and night.
Diorama was an inconsitent album, imho. A bit experimental. It has some of Silverchair best songs ever, but also some really boring ones.
+Kafkandinsky Agree completely. Across the Night might be their best song, but this album just comes together in a different way. I really think they took all their best parts from the past and put that into this album. The part in this song that ends with "but it's a lonely setting sun" is one of the most perfectly written lead ins to a chorus I've ever heard.
Daniel Johns no longer cares to release his music to America, selling out would be only focused on the US market and international, rather than just Australia
"I've been waiting for far too long
Let's stick together
Coz you're keeping me warm
But it's a lonely setting sun..."
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! Been listening to this album all week. I just recently discovered it. This album came out about 10 years too early. I'm not sure people were as ready for it then as they would be today in 2020. This is good and perfect for right now!
If Silverchair released a sixth album today, i'm sure it would be insanely popular. All of their 5 albums were hits.
Tommy - I have them all...I just love their transitions: each release is different...I love the heavy and the ballads..and the Beatle-esque influences we hear in this song.
Dan has always been years ahead of his time. He was born too early AND too late. He would have been a god in the world of the 60's music scene.
@@SugarcatPlays Yeah, I can imagine. I also think there's room for him to get due credit the 2020's.
@@jamestorrens645 I hope they do. Right now, it's all brand new to me. I mean, the first album is a bit familiar, but the stuff after that is new to me. I guess it's kind of nice because I have a bunch new music to listen to. Hopefully we'll have more in the future.
love this song

Love this song
I like all the work of SILVERCHAIR and DANIELS J.... is great!
Daniel Johns is the greatest composer since the beatles hands down
The only artist I want to meet not just cos I'm an Aussie. His talent is phenomenal
Love this sing and video Silverchair forever
not quite my style, but i gotta admit that this is far better than i expected. Daniel Johns will always be a pure genious in my opinion
I've had this song in my head all week - posted from 🇨🇦
what a song
Everything changes. Nothing stays forever. I'm still a big fan and will allways be. Everybody gets old. I know I am, from a high school drug addict to a nephrology doctor . It's all good ;) cheers!
great song
I love this! All of it!!!!!
This is my fav song in youngmodern album.
Daniel Johns is amazing composer. Silverchair had a great discography, with so many different and creative albuns.
Negative reviews below means perfect creation of art above
Like Suergrass and the slower stuff from Sidewinder.
Beatles Centric. Great but an easy win.
Daniel Johns😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤
Yes everything changes. Taste, vision, skin tugor , and habbits etc. Nothing stays forever. Nothing stays forever. I was a grunge high school kid without drugs lol and now became a nurse. I love my job so much.
His gorgeous smile and warm heart never changed though :)
Legendary band
This is art
i wish they continued on the path of awsomness
I miss them sooooo much!
I know a lot of people hate on YM and yeah it is so much different than their first couple of albums but I honestly like anything Dan has put out. Straight Lines is one of my favorite songs. But I really like Freak Show too. It has a special place in my heart and the first album that made me a fan to this day. To each their own I guess, but hopefully one day they will record some new material.
Genious, Johns - Gilles and Johanou! After pop song- artistic! Great ! ❤🎸🎶🎵🎤🎼 Love this music!
Love this tune
Sempre que posso venho aqui ouvir um dos melhores trabalhos de Silverchair ✌😍
Love this song... genius at work.. dont let their stuff pass you by.. sit back and listen...
Like I said in another video, to suffer from anorexia, reactive arthritis and to be in the music industry since you were just a kid and then after all that to have your fans turn their backs on you because you're actually happy for once experimenting with new sounds must really suck.
Awww poor Daniel...if ya can't handle it, dont put yourself out there...its like when Kurt Cobain said "I never wanted to be famous" lol so why the he'll would you play in a band...you can still write, and express yourself without trying to get famous...these guys are attention whores don't let em fool ya!!
@@timothyglidden7964 You should be able to make good music without the majority of your fanbase hating you for it. It's stupid to say that they deserve it.
@@timothyglidden7964 kurt cobain wanted to be famous but it got by a way he didn’t like
What a weird fan base! Well like it or not you all dig the same artist! And if you dig their earlier sounds or their later ones, they still got ya to listen! Got a whole bunch of respect for them and their music
This song makes me relax..... great job
Young Modern is Silverchair’s Sgt. Pepper. What a masterpiece.

It is. Daniel John's is incredible. What an evolving talent
I liked this song so much more than Straight Lines
Love it. Has a real Beatles feel to it.

I love this song and video! I remember when the video was released it seemed so fresh and innovative for the use of new editing technology. I think it's aged well so far.
Awesome music, video!
They great! i´m still waiting for their next album!
This is NOT from the album Diorama. It is from the album Young Modern.
Yes MAN
wow in 4:3.... i didn't realise how much time has past.... i wonder if the boys are still hanging around Newcastle... Silverchair are legends... i wonder if we'll ever get another album?
Kings of Leon, por exemplo com The Walls
Bom , esse álbum o Daniel já tava meio sem vontade de gravar.como vc sabe todos nós envelhece e muda o conceito de música.e o the walls do kof é bem moderno o som dos caras,eu particularmente gostei muito.
@@wendellferreira8094 Sim, me agrada bastante também.
THIS IS AMAZING
new album please!
Very good indie rock song!
adoro eles
Amazing video, really
I totally agree.
Diorama and Neon Ballroom are my faves. I like some songs A LOT off this album, but it’s not consistently solid...
Waiting was my fav of this.
1:00 love this part hahahaha...
Não chega perto mas tá de bom tamanho!
beatles much,
I used to listen to Silverchair's songs 'till I was introduced to an Oasis gig called familiar to millions, in 2001. Since then I became an Oasis, but i ceased listening to Silverchair, but I really miss that time so much, however, when I watched this video
I will always love and respect this band for their years of beautiful, inspirational, 'top of the line' music. Although, I am not a fan of their post diorama sound. It resignates something like a modest mouse indie...thing. I understand the creative aspect of switching things up. I guess I'm not sold on this sound, I don't think it's suiting for the band. Regardless, if they keep it or ditch it, I'll always have my old Silverchair Albums. It's hard to make another Diorama, I know.
I like it! And the video is just plain fun ;).
This is art! Thank you boys 💞

Surprised this has gotten million plus views!
I think it's a beautiful thing that Silverchair changed over the years and tried out everything they wanted - it's just not my taste in music anymore, but who knows maybe their next album is totally different again and I luv to listen to it again.
I will never say that Silverchair is shit nowadays, that's just wrong - their music is just different. period!
Very "Monty Pythonesque". Or animation similar to that of Terry Gilliams from the last 40 years. And i mean Terry Gilliam of and from Monty Python. But his own works that he uses for his solo stuff for movies and/of theatre productions.
The Sound Project be good for listening
I like this Silverchair better. Like they had found themselves and proved they can get past that grunge sound and into their own.
Its such inspiration for me to see Silverchair evolution!
They sound with the wisdom and with simbolic meanings of the human psyche.
I love the old and the new silverchair as one, cause its nothing more then the evolution of one thing. =)
Not my fav album of silverchair but I really like this song and the VC is awesome!
really underrated song
Understated, misappropriated genius...i'd love to write with this bloke. ;)
Okay I always loved their sound and will always love their sound. It changed so what? Come back Silverchair, please.
how come i just listen to this album now?! and its great!! i love young modern album! where are they now?if anyone know the history..please share..i really love to hear.. :)
It's k at least u love their songs in young modern album. History u can search in Google ☺... Every albums may sound different but.. I hope u like 😊 ... N i love their music Since 1995...welcome to silverchair world 😎
mudou muito mais ainda e genial :D
poisé
Loved seeing this in Rage and Triple J on the weekends as a teenager
@vendavalar I couldn't agree more...
Sigh... Ok Silverchair. Do what you love to do. Even if you lose tons of the people who came to love the band you used to be. Like me. I am a musician/artist who idolized you guys in the 90's and you helped me develop my style so I will always be thankful and support you as artists expressing yourselves. People change and you must be being honest in how you express it. I wish you the best but this is not my taste anymore. If you ever get pissed enough to write another badass album, I'll be back.
this band wake my mind to learn and how to play guitar,,,, infact, i put his name to my new born baby,,,
@yosuinside I hope so too! He is brilliant. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't truly recognized until their death. But even if it takes a long time, I hope that many more people begin to realize how amazing his work is.
Ótima música, me lembra David Bowie!
Probably the only track on Young Modern I like. Of course I much prefer the older stuff, but this is still a great song.
Beautiful rain 💗
Rain
It never sounded so good
Sounded so chilled
Sounded so out and out
There...
Far away from me
Rain
O beautiful rain
Beautiful rain
Water off my roof
Water off my back
-
Imma curl up into a ball/I ave heat colded our pow wow
Throw myself up against the wall/so you may ask yourself that question
Challenged, hay but no way to fall/How? - tell me now,
Because I hold onto the flame
Cosy is my dream not my game
Stuck on hot not without a name
And you can stay

@j7609 I completely agree with you. This band is amazing either way. I love all of their "sounds" :)
This is the ONE song i listen to on the way to the beach when i'm about to get destroyed onto the sandbank
me too mate
@@mackperry3027 I also will think about it when I’m getting destroyed in the Nobby’s flags bank
The number of views of this video is such a crime
I want his long hair again!!!!
There's also a song from Oasis which made people ask me sth like: " oh, is that from Silverchair? The song I'm talking about is called Magic Pie from the Be Here Now album and this video which I've just watched from Silverchair on here reminds me of All Around The World from Oasis....quite
I've read both your comments about Oasis but I'm sorry, if you think "All Around The World" sounds like this song or Silverchair in general then you need to change your perspective, they sound nothing alike at all. I have never liked Oasis because all I hear from them is the fact they are just Beatles copy cats. So many of their songs try to imitate the Beatle's Psychedellic sound. Especially trying to imitate the songs and singing of John Lennon, even the look with the hair and glasses. Even the video for AATW is just a Yellow Submarine copycat going for the physchedellic look. They used to be called "The Rain" which is from a Beatles song called "Rain". Another song from Oasis that has heavy influence from The Bealtes is "Falling Down", which sounds structurally exactly like The Bealtes "Tomorrow Never Knows" with the same repeated drum pattern. It is just one of many songs that fool their fans in thinking it's original and Oasis like when it's not. Don't tell me it's just them paying homage to The Beatles because it's not, they're just ripping off their sound and making a profit from people who have no idea.
What I'm getting at is you shouldn't be rating Oasis so highly, they're not that great. I don't even think they're better than Silverchair even though Oasis is more well known. Because they have nothing that even comes close to Diorama musically. I know Daniel Johns is also influenced by The Beatles, especially their progression in music and the album Pet Sounds by Brian Wilson. Maybe that is why you can hear similarities with Oasis. The influence of Brian Wilson and The Beatles was already apparent in Neon Ballroom but even moreso in Diorama and Young Modern. Not to say Young Modern is their best album but seriously do not confuse the song writing to be influenced by a imitation band like Oasis because that is just showing your lack of understanding.

Weird.. Such a change of a band, it's hard to understand that it's the same people and stuff.. But something still connects with me, the voice, the feeling, the music? I don't know..
R.I.P Silverchair.
It's time to do a U2 vibe album
@yosuinside Going in a Paul McCartney direction? I sense McCartney influence...
Is it just me?.. who's placing this album above diorama? 🤔
