I don’t usually comment under videos but this is simply the most emotional, touching, moving performance of my top-favourite silverchair song. It was for a long time (and sometimes still is) a soundtrack to my own emotions. Everything about this performance is astounding. It made me overcome with emotion and simply brought me to tears. I’m totally amazed with how Daniel Johns managed to relive such dark emotions every time he performed this (and his other dark) song(s), like Ana’s Song, Black Tangled Heart, etc etc... And I’m absolutely not surprised that he moved onto different musical style because you just can’t get better if you’re going to be coming back to that darkness, even if it’s absolutely genius. I really respect Daniel for moving on, as it’s the best thing he can do for himself, is to stop revisiting his dark past by singing silverchair songs. Anyone who gives him crap about what he is doing now (or his image) is selfish, ignorant and shallow. Let’s just be thankful that they left such an incredible legacy for us to enjoy.
Yeah most people who were into the frogstomp era that I know reckoned silverchair went gay around neon ballroom but that album and a few songs of diorama were the best:) great vocals and not to bad lyrical content:) DANS VOICE IS PRETTY DAM STRONG ESPECIALLY IN THIS PERFORMANCE:)
Finally someone who understand. People either want pain and pain, or they don’t care and when the artist die, guess who’ll be writing ‘r.i.ps’ all over everywhere. I respect him too ! I got into that band, wonderful just a month ago, maybe even less and I was literally hooked in 10mins. It just grabs you no questions asked. And I really, really said to myself ‘if this man died of something as horrible as drugs or suicide or anything like that I’ll loose my mind cause I just can’t lost someone else from the world of rock, let alone music.’ So really happy that he’s doing fine, and I don’t give a rat’s ass about wether what he’s doing pleases anyone, or if it’s even good, because everything is not about the audience !! Almost everything isn’t ! An artists does stuff for himself, that’s like the basic description of music and pain. And about that, it can’t last forever. That’d be the crullest thing. If only some just stuck around...maybe selfishness ? Not wanting to suck so you just die. Kinda harsh to say it but if that isn’t true ? I don’t doubt Daniel will make it through and do great stuff again, problems take a little time to adjust. ‘I Will Wait For You’ 😉
I take ketamine for treatment resistant depression and I always listen to this song during treatment. It literally permeates my soul. I know Silverchair is no more and they unfortunately have some issues with each other- but man- I thank you for the beautiful music you made. Especially this song- this version. It’s magical. Such a gift. Thank you
As a guitarist myself, I never understood why he doesn't get more credit in the guitar circles. He does what most other musicians can't do just playing, but he's singing as well as doing all his crazy guitar parts. Guy must be coordinated as all fuck.
I was there and still gives me the chills to remember that huge crowd of a non English speaking country singing each word of each song. Eveyone talks about the Rock in Rio performance, wich was also great, but this one was... I don't know. It was kind of a collective soul clense. You could see some people crying in the end. I never had an experience like this in any other concert I went. I think I'll never will again
R.I.P Silverchair from their homepage: "We formed Silverchair nearly 20 years ago when we were just 12 years old. Today we stand by the same rules now as we did back then ... if the band stops being fun and if it's no longer fulfilling creatively, then we need to stop. Therefore after much soul searching we wanted to let you know that we're putting Silverchair into "indefinite hibernation" and we've decided to each do our own thing for the foreseeable future. "
hey it just shows how excited silverdhair fans get over the best band ever, i mean hell i would love to cut out the screaming but if i was there i would scream my lungs out to.
daniel johns is a musical genius , the abillity to create music on the spot with solos and put forth that extra touch of orignality and emotion and soul into his work , i dont think there are many people in the world who can come close to his excelence of exacution
The greatest Symphonic Rock song of all time. Ok so maybe Bohemian Rhapsody is the greatest but I prefer this and written by an 18 year old at the time.
I wish someone would master the audio of this particular recording. When he hits those notes towards the end, it sends chills down my spine. I wonder what a proper sounding recording would do?
Exactly, it's a shame we have to listen to this low quality recording at best. This is one of best live performances I have ever heard of a band I love. The part you mentioned, my god. I know your comment is 5 years old, but I still listen to this to this day.
You know what ? I will try from my dabbling into editing non professional way just for you. Don’t ask me why lol I guess I agree with you and feel extra giving
@@brunocassilhas2233Na he’s proud of this one. But yes Young Modern was bubble gum cock rock compared to this and so was his pop music. I liked a couple of songs like Preach but seemed like he could do better than most of it if he could write this at 18/19 years old.

Absolute favorite sc song. Always makes me feel tingly and think weird thoughts. I love it. I must say the band was their hottest during this video..If only Daniel would shave off his mustache and grow his hair back out he would resemble the hotty of my teenage youth. He looks so different and sounds so different now. It's hard for me to think of him as the same person. Still amazing. Just way different amazing. Man I miss the 90s. This performance is breathtaking and I'm not just saying that and is probably THE best live performance of a song they've ever did. You can really hear the emotion in every part of the song. Especially when Dan is doing the highs and lows with his vocals. This is FLAWLESS!

This is the best live version of Emotion Sickness I've ever seen... absolutely fantastic. I saw them live a couple months ago and they played this and it was ALMOST as good, but not quite.
