- This video features every MTA Long Island Rail Road train operating through Woodside Station in Queens, NY, between 4:30PM and 6:30PM.
This video ended up being over a hour long despite having been shot in the span of just 2 hours. It goes to show just how busy of a system the LIRR is.
The 7 Train of MTA's New York City Subway makes cameo guest appearances throughout this video due to its own Woodside station being located directly above of LIRR's Woodside station.
Circa November 2021. This video was shot in full HD at 60FPS.
Due to the shorter days in the fall, roughly the later half of this video was shot in relative darkness with minimum natural light. Please excuse the fact that a blue colored light on the platform near where I was illuminated the scene and gave the video a blue tint. Also please excuse the fact that there were lamp posts, ramps for boarding trains on the express tracks, and various other equipment in my proximity. These items got in the way of my view and the video at times.
In hindsight using a tripod at this location was somewhat tricky and problematic.
Nice Xmas lights I see the video was from November (the holiday starts)
I don’t like American trains but the lirr is just different I really want too go on the network at some point
My grandfather's gotten Covid-19 this morning and this video made me feel a bit better. Good video
Excellent video of my city’s railroad
I've also done videos on the other 2 commuter rail systems in the NYC area.
Here's my Metro North Video: ua-cam.com/video/oawjc0nGaRE/v-deo.html
And here's my NJ Transit Video (with plenty of Amtrak mixed in): ua-cam.com/video/mU8R--p4-DU/v-deo.html
Sooner or later I will be shooting another video on the Northeast Corridor. Stay tuned. :)

this was fantastic.! i did an evening rush of my own last Wednesday from here and i even had LGA arrivals overhead.! trains everywhere, it was really fun, i might have to do it again
I'm glad you like the video. Woodside is definitely a very busy station. Although I do kind of wish if there were less equipment on the platforms in the way of the sight lines.
@@Shuotography i agree, yeah its extremely active, it's the busiest spot on the entire railroad.! the blue light at that end of the platform makes it look nice, that's where i stood with my friend. my train back East had M9s as well.!!!!! it would be the first full trip i have had on M9s, i also had one from Penn to Woodside before the evening rush, which would ( somehow ) mark the first time i have ridden one
@@evangouldtransit Yeah the M9s look nice. I prefer them to the M8s on Metro North.
I think the only other spot on the LIRR network that could have a similar amount of traffic would be Jamaica station. Jamaica sees trains on the Atlantic Branch but misses the trains to and from Port Washington.
@@Shuotography i would say Woodside and Jamaica are the same traffic wise, just swap Atlantic with PW, and faster trains @ Woodside
