I got to release unexpressed pain around 2 things that I wasn't expecting.
    1. When Liz mentioned asking God:"where have you been all the times that I needed you?" For her to be answered:"I've always been here, but you kept distracting yourself from me"
Justin then went on to quote something from his faith and that's when I broke.
I realised that I had never experienced God in religious practices and institutions but in moments when I connected to myself. Like on my walks to and from school, I would converse with God and feel the presence.
    2. "When you have been abandoned you tend to re-abandon yourself". A couple weeks ago I was "doing the work"😂😂(inner child work/parts work as it were) and realised that I don't feel safe in the world coz I don't feel safe with myself. The unconditional love and presence I've longed for from others are things that I've been depriving myself.
    Thank you for this episode.
    Love y'all ♥️

Liz, your answer to when Jamey asked what makes you qualified to be part of the man enough conversation was so badass. I was not expecting that answer and yet it was the perfect answer. You are definitely the best listener out of the 3 of you and I was so happy to learn more about you after this episode! As someone who also needs to show myself I can do life on my own before I enter a serious relationship I totally feel you.

Just the beginning when Liz says "I think not feeling enough is my baseline" Jesus🙌 I can't tell you how deep I felt that. When I heard that it was like putting a name to the lake I swim in and me realizing that I am fish for the very first time in my life. This whole episode is so familiar to my being and what I'm walking through in life right now. Episode after episode the first question always blows my mind. Because how is it that so many of us are walking around not feeling "enough" yet never really talking about it. I loved this episode and we need part 2 of anything Liz wants to talk about 🙌🥰 thank you for overcoming ur struggles and persist on putting this amazing work out there. It's healing so many 🥰❤🙌

I am a woman of color listening all the way from France, and I never thought I’ll get hooked to a podcast called Man Enough. I am learning and reflecting on so much regarding myself, men, the society… I love watching you three have conversations with great guests, but this one with just the three of you I really enjoyed. Liz : I am in awe of you a little bit more each day. And I really appreciate the bond you guys have, it makes me think of my friendships with the men of my life that I am so grateful for.

Awww, Ive been waiting for this podcast ever since you said Liz would have a show about her. I was very teary eyed seeing the appreciation, respect and love Justin and Jamey have for Liz, the love is palpable.
I certainly know the effects of childhood neglect, it can be so deceiving if your need for food and shelter were met, emotional neglect has a HUGE impact, and as Liz said, you end up with a personality that is only coping mechanisms. And it's so easy to be attracted to love bombing narcissists.

I’m always trying to throw this podcast on or watch these videos when my boyfriend is around-dropping subtle hints because I think he’d benefit a lot from “doing the work” (lol). And he got defensive when the conversation about broken men finding broken women and keeping them broken for their own power and benefit. And he said it before Jamie, “well not all men!!” Then Jamie added that disclaimer that we don’t generalize here and I saw a few walls come down. So thank you for keeping it real, is all.

I found this podcast/channel recently through my girlfriend and have been BINGING episodes. Liz is such a superstar and I appreciate so much that most episodes she will sit quietly and just listen, then jump in with a really challenging question or two that give us a new perspective as men. What an amazing person and such a powerful asset to have on this show along with the 2 other brilliant co-hosts.

Liz, I really appreciate the “present,” honest, vulnerable, answers that you gave. And I love your expressed humor. I learned so much & through what & how you shared, I found questions to ask myself & ways I can be more responsible for my own emotions & relationships. Really helpful. And fascinating! You shared a spectrum of emotions. And I love how the exuberance of your young self comes out so much! We need that! Definitely one of my fav episodes. Liz, I also appreciate you bringing up non-binary & I think suggesting that gender doesn’t have to be an either/or…it’s all connected. “Bi-nary” can become another way to make us believe we’re separate when we are all connected & a part of each other. Liz, Jamie & Justin…incredible collaboration. I love the love! Thank you ☀️♥️

I never experienced the feeling of seeing myself reflected so closely like I did in this episode with Liz; you have a new follower. I feel like so many women have the same experience, and we are so conditioned to think that's how life is supposed to be, that we don't question it anymore. Hi, I am just a passerby went through your videos a couple of times. I did enjoy the talk and the rationale comes up with you guys talk every time. Fortunately, the man I love empowers me not taking my power, but boosting me up with positive stimulation all the time. I grew up a lot watching him grow. And I'm still growing . It's nice to see people are solving their internal issues more openly than before without any shame. Shame kills us , our personality and thought processes. Being shameless is good for health. People should accept themselves for who they are and with dignity. What you need is a good RO,and UV filtration process for the senses.

Wow..... Liz is 100 percent how she talks to herself , myself also...... I hit all the boxes . My parents were present, married, happy but absent. Dad worked 24/7 , Mom was depressed deeply and there but miserable therefore making us miserable. I got critiqued if my bangs were out of place or eyeliner too thick, etc...... and now I'm as an adult undoing those voices . Also see the broken men as my type. I have to save them... I have to help them. Seeing now that I do not want someone broken. I'm whole. I want someone else who is whole too. THANK-YOU FOR THIS. You should have Shawn Mendes on again now after his breakup and healing. He was an amazing guest.

30:32 for me, the problem isn't men feeling small in my presence, because there's moments where I am the bigger person, the one more knowledgeable or the one making better decisions. the problem starts when they feel small not because of my presence or skillset as a person, but based on the sole fact that I am a woman with that presence or skillset.
Love this episode btw. Thank you all always for the amazing experience.

I love so much about this episode! The kindness and respect and love that you three clearly have for each other and the atmosphere of real intimacy that are hallmarks of this whole endeavor really shine through. By following this conversation I feel that I have come to know and love you all, too, and having this opportunity for Liz to share so much of herself was such a privilege. The part about how hard meditation is, and the wanting to punch people for whom it seems to come easily, really resonated with me, too. What a struggle! Yet the insight from the spirit guide, "I have always been here, you just have to slow down and listen," surely gets at one of the most profound truths that cuts across all forms of religious belief and spiritual striving. Thank you, thank you, for what you're doing to help raise the level of discourse in our society!

Two song quotes came to mind: "I came in as bright as a neon light and I left burned out right there before him" (Lesson In Survival, Joni Mitchell) and, "I'm looking for a hard-headed woman" (Thank you Yusuf/Cat Stevens) Liz... how to simplify all the thoughts.. Thank you. I hope you can feel that happy joy I feel, we feel when you walk in the room. It is moving to hear your tender heart, and, see those beautiful eyes soften. What a episode guys!! First, thank you Liz for sharing a bit part of your life. Seeing you answering some of the questions, i think it was a little painful for you and i really appreciate your honesty and courage. Thank you.
I feel connected with some of the things Liz said. For some reason, i also feel that some of the charasteristica that we link to masculinity (like hiding the emotions, one of my particular problems), i learnt to copy them when i was a child, i hated feeling treat like "a girl" or people saying to me that "this is what girls do", i hated princess and all this stuff. I dont have logical reasons to why i emulated mens, but it feels that part of my childhood consisted of trying to build my particular armor with some of the things that mens usually, in this weird culture, represents (stronger, secure...) to feel more secure or strong, i dont know.
The part when Liz talks about god also was sooo touching. I started to understand my relationship with god so late, maybe one or two years ago. Also when i was a child i felt that maybe god didnt want to talk with me, or i didnt understand how to talk with this divine power.
Finally, i want to that i love jamey (i always love him) but in this podcast, i loved the question about why Liz was qualified to talk about masculinity. What a brilliant question! i was like: jamey, i love you for asking this. The liz's answer was also a mic drop. What a strong badass incredible beautiful answer.
Thank you man enough team for sharing and creating this. Thank you for all of your work. You are beautiful people! Lots love!

Liz, I don't know if we come from the same "over-soul", but I can relate to your experience tenfold. And it's very rare for me to hear a woman's voice and be able to connect like this. The frequency that you beam is very authentic. Authenticity requires lots of work. Your guides protect you dearly.
I would love to know how you experience your intuition? For instance, when you meet someone and it turns out that their just "the pattern", does you intuition light up, and if it does where and how?
    🙏🏼

Oh my Goodness what a conversation.Liz you are An Amazing Human.I wish I had the tools 40 years ago to Bend the Rules of the PATRIARCHY that the man should be the Provider and Stronger Person in a relationship or marriage. I basically declined career process because I was afraid to outshine my husband because he was not career focused. But then with my personality I also think I might have been responsible for neglecting my family because of the commitment I made toy family.Liz I am certain there are many women who watched this podcast who will feel the same as me But Im also sure your story and journey will be helping other women to Be Brave Enough to not settle for what the so called rule of the PATRIARCHY...Justin my favorite parables is the Footprint because at times when I feel God has abandoned me I try to remember that he is not walking beside me but carrying me.Jamey snd Liz always challenge eachbothet in such a positive way I Love that about you.....Liz may you find your person to complete you. MUCH LOVE Gwen

Just finished listening again and it's such a great episode. While I'm not a spiritual person at all, it was nice to see the three of them connecting on that, as I don't think Liz has mentioned her spiritual journey at all up until this point. It seems to have brought her levels of peace she was looking for.
It's also nice to see Liz with her guard down, since she's so often the one with the data or keeping the men honest. Just really great stuff.
On a separate note, I took the plunge on Factor with the ME promo code. I've struggled with binge eating disorder all my life and it's been the worst its ever been with getting sober and finally dealing with my mental health issues this last hear. I'm unclear on what it is about the Factor meals that are working so well, but I'm in week 2 and haven't binged once. I've tried other meal services and, while they were good, they were nowhere near as good & consistent as Factor. I've liked every single meal so far. Just thought I'd share for those that might be on the fence. (And it's a seriously big discount, too.)

I like Liz’s answer that to be man enough is to have emotional responsibility. However, I think some men have trouble with emotions not only because they are not taking responsibility for their emotions but because they have learned that their emotions don’t matter. My boyfriend has expressed to me that he believes no one cares about how men feel. This makes me very sad and I hope we can create a safe space for everyone to express themselves fully/freely

It's like that saying , when someone shows you them true colours, believe it . If someone says they're not ready to date or don't want anything serious, believe them. Don't try to change them. Go do you, love you first...which is hard.. "doing the work " f*cking sucks.. and it hurts.... but then you can heal.... after hurt, there's HEALING... and then , the right person I believe will happen, and be integrated with your life when meant to be. Love you all💜❤

This entire episode just makes my mind repeat "men written by women." And it made me realize that we find them attractive because the lead female role is always written equal to the male role. Because it's Men written by women for women, and from the women's perspective.

I think you should strongly think about your cohosts. As a woman of color sometimes it is very hard to listen to this podcast because I still feel left out of this conversation when the best people you can learn about the system from are the people at the bottom. I think Liz tries very hard to understand but always falls short and Jamie is very defensive and often feels like he hinders the conversation or Silences Liz.

    • @Lilirose_04

Thank you for the feedback. The inclusion of necessary voices, especially those from women of color, is something we are absolutely dedicated to and acutely aware of the lack of in most media platforms, including ours. We have had many Black male voices on to date and have some incredible episodes with Black women and other women of color already recorded to release soon, yet there's still so much work to do. We will continue to have a majority of male-identifying voices, while also consistently inviting in female, non-binary, trans and other voices. We really appreciate you being here and challenging us in this way, as your perspective is valuable and necessary.

32:42 I find this sentiment very problematic. To say that we should look at men who have wives that are not boisterous and opinionated, with suspicion and we should look down on women who have those character traits. Clearly they are right for each other, otherwise they wouldn't be married. Just because a woman has a career, doesn't mean she's going to be a good mother, wife, or person. Saying things like "the sex is better if you have a strong woman", is essentially bribing men into finding that attractive. It also seems as if the cast conflates strength in women, as being the most detached from their husband or boyfriend as possible. As if there's only one true way of being a strong woman. As if women who genuinely like to cook, clean, and take care of their husbands are insufficient. I find what Justin said about men should want to be challenged in their relationships. Why would any man or woman want a "challenge". A home is supposed to be about peace and calmness. If you can't relax in your own home, where can you relax? I think that's a way of gas lighting men into thinking character issues in their female partners, are actually good things.

    • @WeAreManEnough
      @WeAreManEnough  2 роки тому

Thank you for the feedback. There is certainly no single correct view on what one should look for in a partner. Our aim is to help validate a wide spectrum of ways of approaching relationships and gender norms, as long as they create more equality, respect and freedom to express oneself as they wish.

39:50… so wouldn’t that mean men are the enemy…and that she is just convincing her enemy she is on their side?
Also… did I hear her say “the number one thing that will improve womens lives is if men change”?
How in the world can that be an empowering message for women? She talks about men giving their power away…is that not exactly what she is doing?

    • @WeAreManEnough
      @WeAreManEnough  Рік тому

Liz, nor any of the hosts, believe men are the enemy. That's why she wrote a book with love for men.
And both things can be true - men changing can improve women's lives incredibly, and women can also empower themselves to affect change on their own. However, the world clearly is structured to suppress women, so the ruling power (men) have to change the system, unless we tear the whole thing down, which most are not advocating.

Thanks for your joining the conversation. This obviously strikes a chord with you and is an important discussion to be had. We appreciate your vulnerability. First and foremost, these conversations are to examine exactly what you're challenging. Why don't we feel enough, and where do these ideas come from? To deny this sadness, would be to deny our humanity and we are working to create a bridge of understanding to explore all the ideas that come from these questions. We hope you've been able to explore some of our other episodes, to help shed more light on these topics. And we look forward to your thoughts!

This was such a good episode! I got emotional multiple times and learned/clarified things I hadn't known before.
    Two big insights:
    1. I haven't been letting myself feel safe in situations where I am, and I can give myself permission to change that
    2. The part about other people needing you to feel broken to make them feel like they're not was something that I sort of knew but hadn't heard articulated like that. It made me see some people in my life a little differently than I had before.
    Thanks for this!

Resonating so hard with neglect being as damaging if not more than abuse. My parents had a messy divorce and used my older brother and I as ammo in the courts. We dealt with it differently, he became naughty and I became withdrawn. He got a lot of attention but me and my terrible coping mechanisms slipped under the radar and I eventually "learned" I deserved abandonment. It's taken me years to undo this.
