This is such a beautiful original song from Tim. He is a wonderful songwriter. This song was originally on Tim's solo album before joining Home Free called "The Best That I Could Do". Nice to see it redone with Home Free. Love Adam's percussion!

I can’t remember if it’s on UA-cam, but the version from Tim’s solo album is fully instrumented. There’s a difference in Tim’s voice between that one and the one from ten years ago. It’s really cool to hear how much they have matured. Thanks, Cole!

Tim was a professional songwriter, some years before he joined Home Free. This was one he wrote before he joined the group. Land Of The Free is another one. Champagne Taste (On A Beer Budget) he's written during a time where he didn't want to have anything to do with country, but his boss at the time forced him to or he would be jobless. He went home, got drunk, and wrote Champagne Taste in hopes to not have to write another country song. To this day, Champagne Taste is Home Free's most successful original. I love Tim's originals.
And I know that all of their originals are co-written with one or two other people, but I never can remember their names.
I've missed their outros, too. I'm glad that they started to include them in some of their newes releases again.
    Thanks for the reaction.

Pretty sure the added richness in the newer version comes from Chance's ability as a bass

I've Seen is my favorite song and I like both ways. Tim is a great bass singer and songwriter. I like your reactions on Home Free and on song.❤❤❤❤❤❤

I think I read somewhere that bass voices get better with age. Fuller, lower, richer tessitura. And possibly just the experience and wisdom that accompanies aging. 😆💜💜💜

The first version of this was a favorite of mine until the new one came along. I still like the first one, but I will make the new one my go-to version if, for no other reason, to support the guys in their endeavors to reclaim control of their own music. I do like the new version slightly better, however, because of the things you mentioned--Tim's current vocal abilities, Chance's bass contribution to the arrangement, and the storyline as portrayed in the video. I prefer to see the guys singing in a video rather than just actors, but this one had a good mix of both. Thanks for a great reaction/comparison. Gail L.

Tim worked as a professional song writer for a couple of years before joining Home Free. His other originals include: "Remember This", "Cross that Bridge" & "May as well be me". Austin's include: "California Country", "The Stargazer Trilogy" & "Love Me Like That" and solos on his channel include "If I Met You Now", "Real Talk" & "Off the Grid". Chance's original with HF is "Skull and Bones". Tim co-wrote "Givin' Up on You" among others.

anything from "As seen on TV" or "Crazier Life" are remakes of earlier released material

"As Seen on TV" is a compilation of the songs they did on The Sing-Off. Not all of them were released previously.

This is my favorite Tim Foust original. It's on my daily playlist. It's good to see the double feature with both versions. Tim uses different vocal techniques than he did ten years ago. Great analysis as usual.

It’s ok, you don’t have to pick. I agree with you that Tim sounds better and has more vibrato and power to his vocals. It’s a really good song. I don’t know which one I like better either. Good reaction Cole!!

Yeah is higher range is so much better. Not that it was bad, but huge difference.

Oh forgot to say that I think maybe it was Austin doing those high “strings” sounds?? Not sure though.

Chance doing that smoky walking bass on the second song was killer. I couldn't get enough.

There is one more video of this song being performed. It is Tim with his buddy Chris on a promo tour for Tim's solo album "The Best That I Could Do" performing at a radio station. This was 12 years ago, which would put it pretty close to when he joined Home Free. Worth a watch. ua-cam.com/video/iB6JP7oA7xQ/v-deo.htmlsi=F-gCDta9af5C5JzL

I agree that their voices sound fuller in 2024 than they did in 2014. Chris was and is a talented singer, but I think Chance adds a more versatile voice to the mix. Chris has talked about Tim needing to record the bass line when he was also carrying lead, then Chris needing to sing it in live performances. That wasn't easy, because Chris' voice is tenor-baritone, and the bass line wasn't natural for him. Chance is a natural baritone-bass. I think that is why we have seen Tim handling more lead than he has in the past.
This was one of my favorite songs from Home Free from the first time I heard them. The new recording and video have just deepened my enjoyment.

If you analyzed the newer version, you could still do a ‘2fer’ because the previous version is still new to you. I love your comparisons. 😊
