      Careful with the Island. Many of the off-highway forestry access roads are controlled by logging companies and the rules on how to get a key for the gate keep changing.

      It is nice to know that I now have somewhere of my own to go. I will keep my eyes open for other claims, but the pressure is now off. I talked to someone from Tennessee who found rose quartz on a horse farm. Perhaps, a trip south is in the cards someday for me.

      I have been reading some old reports from the hard rock exploration in the area. They didn't care about crystals in their search for gold, but still described some really interesting minerals. A UV lamp and some time exploring for crystals sounds like a really good idea.

    Everything about MTO is so confusing and covert. Thanks for details.
    What difference is between MINER CLAIM and PLACER CLAIM ?
    What you can or cant do under these claims ?

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  2 роки тому +1

      Mineral claim vs placer claim. Mineral is hard rock (lode) and placer is gravel. There are a number of things you are allowed to do by having the claim, depending on crown vs restricted (private, park, native, etc) land. For example, if the area is crown land, then you can access for the purpose of prospecting. If you own a placer claim, you can use a small high banker following the rules on hose size, distance from the creek and no runoff into the creek, digging by hand to 1.5M. To use machines you can apply for NOW (notice of work). Nobody else is allowed to prospect your claim. Lots of rules that are listed, so you need to follow them.

      @@SammyGill You can pan anywhere (exception native, park, private land - need permission) as long as there isn't an active claim. No such thing as a miner's claim in BC. If there is a mineral claim, you can also pan as part of your prospecting, as long as there isn't an overlapping placer claim. If there is a placer claim on the same ground, you are not allowed to placer mine without permission.

    Hi, great information, Would you know If a non resident person like myself from Australia could acquire a gold claim in BC?

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому

      Here's the link. Look at FAQ#11
      www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/farming-natural-resources-and-industry/mineral-exploration-mining/documents/mineral-titles/mt-faqs/faq_fmc.pdf
      It looks to me that the problem is "working in Canada". You must be allowed to work to get a Free Miner's Certificate. The FMC is needed to acquire a claim. The other way to do it is register a business or partner up with a Canadian. Still, when you visit Canada there will be questions about "working".

    Hi MeMiner. I appreciate the video, as it helped a lot to know how to go through the process of staking a claim. If you are willing, I was wondering how you have done on that claim? And with the access to it. Did you need to get a key to get into the area. Thanks, Arne

      I ended up giving it away to a friend. There was a problem with keys and I didn't go through their hoops. I understand it has been sorted out now. Most of my claims are recently in northern BC. I look forward to a trip this summer

    How soon can you get the key to the gate ? Did you see if anyone grabbed the 2nd cell next to yours, it has a drive way to the creek from Butler Main road? Your cell has a steep embankment from Butler Main road. See google map goo.gl/maps/bQHZwEUt4q92 So what mining equipment do you have? Will this be the families vacation spot this year?

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 років тому

      I have to investigate how to get a key, unless my buddy out there already has one. Butler Main is one way in. I don't mind steep embankments, but prefer going up them rather than down. As for equipment, I have pretty much everything you could imagine, including a couple of dredges, which are almost impossible to get permits to use in BC
