- A guide to my first mountain summit of Vallunaraju, a 5,686m mountain in Peru's Cordillera Blanca.
It's an entry-level summit for keen mountaineers, though it's not a walk in the park. I had the most brilliant experience and it felt like I was on top of the world at the summit.
I highly recommend booking through Andean Kingdom in Huaraz. The best agency you could ask for.

Saludos desde Peru, gracias por visitar Huaraz. 👍🇵🇪👏
Wow Zoe! That's quite the view 🤗 wow 😊
Incredible!! Adding this to my bucket list.
Also, walking sticks or bamboo sticks are super helpful for the way down. I twisted my knee on day 2 of 5 and was struggling! But those views were worth it
Thank you for sharing this mate
Aw thank you very much ❤️ really appreciate it!! And I'm forever nostalgic 😅
Like it~gorgeous ,🤠
Kudos to you!!
Espero llegar a la cima el próximo mes,me estoy preparando
Buena suerte!
incredible!!! Thank you for documenting this, I had no idea this even existed. Did you do this before or after the huayhuash trek? I only have 2 weeks in Peru and prob to much to do both eh?
I did this 2 days after I finished Huayhuash! It's a speedy 28hr overnight trek. Highly recommend..You definitely could squeeze both into 2 weeks! I squeezed a lot into 2 weeks in Huaraz. You can do Laguna 69 or Laguna Churup as an acclimatisation hike prior to Huayhuash. I'm excited for you!
Whoah. 20L back to trek up the mountain. How much of that weight was your gear?? I hiked Salcantay in Peru towards Machu Picchu, but the tour company took my big pack on a donkey. I had my day pack, but was feeling like my SLR was too heavy. You're so impressive!
Aw thank you Todd!! Ahaha it was a lot of fun. Didn't carry a full pack to the summit though! That would've been murder
@@walkerlust weight of gear is an underrated factor, which is rarely addressed in reviews when shopping. So many are geared towards camera quality when using it home. For your trip, I'm guessing you had a drone, gopro, and full DSLR or mirrorless, plus battery packs, charging wires, et al?
