I’m from Bolivia, but from Santa Cruz which is mostly tropical. I’ve seen the Illimani mountain from afar when visiting the city of La Paz and it is gorgeous, yet I never though it would be this beautiful. This is movie worthy. At times you just need the right perspective. Beautiful images sir.
A truly majestic mountain, both from afar and when you climb it. Bolivia is such a breathtaking country, and I definitely want to visit it again. I’m glad you enjoyed my video!
Thanks for this video. You have no idea what this mountain means to us, the people from La Paz. We watch it since our early years and it lives with us until the end. Is beautiful to know that you all enjoyed the trip. Thank you again.
I am honored to bring joy to someone for whom the mountain is so meaningful! I can imagine that for the people of La Paz, the Illimani holds significant importance. It is so majestic and always watches over the city.
@ it was incredible! Most difficult climb I’ve done so far but I made it 🙌🏼 your video definitely helped me prepare mentally for what to expect. So thank you for that!
*¡Salud!.
The way up to the summit is mostly steep but not very technical. Midway up, there's a section with larger crevasses, which was a bit more technical (as shown in the video). However, it was manageable as it consisted of only small passages. Of course, this area varies each season.
@@maltmountain Makes sense. I would like to eventually tackle this mountain. I'm fit but have no climbing experience. Should I attempt mountains like Huayna Potosi first, or what do you recommend in order to get prepared for such a climb ?
@@samk6170 how long will you stay in the area of La Paz? First of all a proper acclimatization is most important. I would recommend an acclimatization hike to the Pico Austria (maybe one night at the Refugio Condoriri). With no climbing experience it definitely could make sense to climb Huayna Potosi first. Even if you are very fit, the body can react differently to altitude. That's why I would recommend starting with a less challenging mountain.
I’m from La Paz and never got to the top of our beautiful Illimani. This video’s inspiring maybe I’ll do it some time.

Wow, incredible video, which month did you go to Illimani?
I’m glad you like the video! We were there in August 23!
Nuestro majestuoso protector!!!!!!❤
Believe it or not this mountain actually rises from it's base more than Mt Everest... around 14000 feet from the lowest nearby elevation.
Oh, very interesting, I didn't know that. How exactly is the base defined?
Thanks for sharing! How much preparation and experience in climbing is it needed to attempt this mountain ?
