I Love how you make it all Look so Easy! You are just Full Of Creativity! I make fairy houses and scenes, and your foil technique has Opened a Whole Universe up for me! Especially balconies and steps! Thank you so much! "Happy Building"... :)
oh my, that just means so much to me! Yes, foil has opened a whole new world for me too... I feel so grateful. Thank you for taking the time to comment these kinds words, you just fueled me up for another couple hours of building, lol Happy building to you!
I am just in love with these stone floors, they look so real. I am wanting to make some. I am going to see if my son has drink holders where he works and if so if he could get me a couple of them so I can make a floor like this. LOL. If not I will be hitting up some fast food places soon. Thanks for sharing and have a fab day or night.
This flooring is incredible! It is the first I've seen of this technic. I have been wondering how I was going to do for a floor in a diorama I'm making. Thanks for all of great construction ideas and tips.
I have used the drink cartons on 3 projects, and every time I forget to paint the floor gray before I lay the stones....so I have to go back in and add the gray after. The last one I did, my 1800's laundry room, I used a black marker for grouting, then softened it slightly with gray. The marker left a nice shadow effect on the sides of each stone that I liked. Made it look old and very used. Someday I'll remember to paint the floor before I do the stones.....someday.....lol Love the cardboard floors! They look like real wood. Got my brain going here. I want shiplap on my walls, but have zero woodworking skills, and my measuring skills are, well, scary. But if I could get large pieces of cardboard and seal the dickens out it.....got me going here, girl.
in the bathroom floor, at the beginning, I did paint the floor first, white, but then I used grout (wasn't planned) so thought, no need to paint the next one if I'm using grout.. but then the 3rd floor, well you know, haha But it really only takes a moment to cover those gap areas after too.. and like you said, it really does leave a nice shadow effect which I love! It's like a no-fail type thing, either way works great. Your projects sound awesome and fun! (my measuring skills are scary too.. ;)
I love this idea I was doing my floor and It started to dry and it had gaps, I was like I think I can paint the gaps lol and you did it so now I know it will work and look great!!! Thanks!!!
yay!! That's awesome, I'm so glad this was helpful to you.. a question for you now, did the video play okay? I don't know why it's not giving the option to play in higher quality, it's showing low quality on my end..
Where The Gnomes Live it played great for me😊 quick question do u think stick would look ok as wood beams in the ceiling? Or do u think that they would be to weird looking
Hi Sharon, first I want to say how much I LOVE all these tutorials and how they inspire me for my own gnome home! Thank you so much for documenting all of it and all the tips and tricks you give us! So I was wondering: you used to put the stones on a card board template and glue them in place. Now you put them right away in the house. Is there a reason why you chose to change it? If you put them straight away on the floor of the house, aren’t they going to look “bubbly” once they dried? I made a stone floor on card board and wanted to glue it in my house, but I wasn’t happy with the way it looked. So now I’m considering, should I put it immediately in the house? But then I was afraid the stones will bubble when they dry. It doesn’t look that way in your house, so I’m not really sure what to do...
thank you so much :) I never used to put them on a template first.. I've done it that way for sure, it depends on the floor I'm putting it on. Sometimes it's easier to put them straight over the floor.. I've also covered stairs in them too and they always go straight over the stairs. It depends what I'm covering. The stones shouldn't bubble once dry, I don't think anyway.. are you talking about glue bubbles?
Where The Gnomes Live I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you used a template for the stones too 😊 By bubbly I mean the stones themselves. Like air get underneath it while it dries. Sorry if I'm not explaining myself clearly. Sometimes a different language can be a barrier 😉 Anyhow, I think I'm gonna try to place the stones right in place on the floor. Fingers crossed 😄 Thank you for answering!
no worries at all.. I'm happy to clear anything up that I can. Yes, you can place them right on the floor, use a hairdryer to dry them a bit before leaving them alone. I push what I can down if any pop up. After I see that they will all lay flat then I leave them. I'm sure your floor will turn out wonderful :)
I almost forgot! I just did another stone video and this time a bit differently than I normally do. These were on templates but that's only because they are separate from the floor. It might be helpful to you ua-cam.com/video/zVCtNPqU1AQ/v-deo.html
Me and my partner want to make a 3-D house that would look like a house that we will buy what we will design in the future we want to make a 3D miniature dollhouse. I was watching the old vid and u used u make when can u do a vid on how u made it x

Hello! I am French and I do not understand English but I very much appreciate your method to make a paved floor! Can you write me what is this dough that you use to cover the "tile" is this from the paper pulp? Thank you for your reply..
The material she uses to cover the flooring is a plaster you use to cover holes on walls, in my country we called it Pasta Muro. Is perfect to cover cracks, holes and when there are ugly joints between two different walls. She also added some grey acrilic paint. Saludos desde Chile
this video series has been a great way to spend my Sunday while also working on my own project. thank you!

they are needle felted. The names of the 4 gnomes I made are Gnomey, Ahti, Aunt Katri, and Annie. I have a few work in progress pics of the the 2 lady gnomes if you're interested. www.sharonojala.com/2015/12/needle-felt-lady-gnome-mushroom-dress.html
I found using a cheese grater turning charcoal into powder was easies with color stones
awesome!
Oh, that's a great idea. I bet it would work well with chalk pastels too for a larger variety of colours!

U should take a.finer nail file and make a.worn path that the creatures take all the time..lol
People have been using egg cartons for decades. This is nothing new except your own method of using the now paper mache.
Yes, and at 0:37 seconds into the intro I said the same thing.
