First concert in my life (deconstruction Tour 2003 or 2004), Pennywise was the penultimate band. All other bands up to that point were solid, then Byron came onto the stage and did something like a short sound check or warm up. I was blown away by his energy and still am to this day. I almost felt sad when the whole band started playing and I couldnt hear the drums that clean anymore haha
Byron so under rated.. this guy plays at frenetic pace with pecision... as most pennywise songs are all fast tempo rips.. He gets a workout every set.

I used to love to play fast covering all the great punk songs, getting a double pedal for overkill, Motorhead. Now I play with more finesse but at a slower pace. This is what sets players like Byron and Erik from NOFX apart 50 and 50 plus and still playing like teenagers. That is an absolutely remarkable feat. I saw NOFX only a few years ago and NOFX did a lot from Punk in Drublic Lori Meyers etc and times when Byron plays even faster. For that alone they deserve recognition. Of the single pedal players, true punks, Byron is probably the fastest on the scene.
Travis pretty fast in “anthem” & that new found glory guy quick too.

one thing i respect about brian, is that he hasn't picked up a bunch of 2010s/ 2020s drum cliches. i'm sure the dude is still practicing and learning new things, but he keeps pennywise sounding frantic and old-school.

Not a good view to tell, but if you are looking for stuff he has used I know for a fact he has played with 14" A Quick Beats and 14" A Custom Hi-Hats in the past. From some other videos out there it also looks like he could be using some 14" New Beats. Give those a try if you are looking for a similar sound to his.
