Awesome video ❤ Everything you've talked about makes so much sense, including the resentment to the cat. It really does make sense - he wanted Poppy and you wanted him and then there came time where there was just Poppy and you were a widow. And the train trip with her and the overprotectivness of her, everything makes total sense considering everything. You did the best you could in the time and state you were in and the knowledge you had. And the fact that you gave her to your parents with the thought what would be best for her (and not just what you want for yourself) was the icing on the cake that showed how much you truly cared for Poppy. I'm so glad you had the opportunity to give her to your parents and you can see her whenever you want. I'm sure that made the decision easier for you. Much love ❤
Ugh, I cannot tell you how much this means to me. What a gorgeous thing to say - thank you so very, very much. You will never know how much this means. 🧡
I remember when you got Poppy and i was wanting to ask where she was,but i didn't like to ask incase it upset you. I am so pleased to hear that shes living a happy life with your parents. I love her grumpy little face, shes so cute.😝🤣 x
Hi Becca, thanks for letting us know what happened to Poppy. She’s obviously spoilt and very much loved by your parents and you still get to see her whenever you can so good decision made by you for Poppy. Persians are cute but they always look grumpy lol. Looking forward to your next video, take care, cya xx
Bless her grumpy little face! ❤😁 Thank you so much for sharing this update...you are always so gracious about sharing your life.🫶 So very happy to see all that water. Hydration is life! 🙌
I completely understand your feelings about Poppy and appreciate the honesty. I had a pair of littermates and the one I wanted but got talked into taking the other also when they were kittens. The one I wanted that I adored got sick and couldn't be saved a few years ago and I still have his sister. I had never really bonded with her like I did her brother and when he was gone I felt a bit resentful towards her - like if I had to lose one of them, why did it have to be him? And then I felt awful for even thinking that - but every time I looked at her it reminded me of him. However she adores me and I've always been kind to her and loving and now years later she is getting elderly and having issues and I'm keeping her happy and well as I can. But I can identify with the feelings you had at one point.
my sweet Becca 💜 thank you for posting this video 😍 i was just thinking about Poppy. I'm glad she's doing great and taking care of by your parents ❤️ much 💕
Thank you for the update I was wondering too about your cat poppy but did not want to ask about her out of respect for your privacy. I am glad your heart has healed and have moved on you are a sweet person
Oh my gosh Becca, it's great to see you back again 😀 I've only just been notified about this video, I never got notified about your about your other videos #peeweetom ❤
I was reading through some of the comments. I cannot believe how nasty and un caring and un-sympathetic people can be. Becca you do not need to answer to nobody about your decisions in anything. You are your own person and you have done whats best for you and poppy at the time, and it looks like its worked out great. Dont mind the keyboard warriors they oviously have nothing better to do and they are not worth wasting time over. You know who your supporters are here. I enjoy seeing updates on you. I followed yours and dans story from the start and always check in on your vids when they pop up on my phone. So glad your doing well dear, and are happy. Keep going girl x ❤
Thank you, I needed to read this today. It has been one of the reasons I had to take a brief break - but it is people like you that makes me want to come back. 🧡
I just love Poppy's face! So adorable! You made the right decision to let her stay with your parents! At least you know she's safe, loved and happy! Plus, you can visit her! You sure seem happier these days and I'm so glad for you. For being such a young lady, you have been through so much! Stay strong my friend! ♥
Hi Becca, I’m never in focus - I’m practically blind!! You were totally entitled to say how you felt when you got Poppy and after your late husband passed, and it was completely natural for you to feel so protective towards her. I total understand your thoughts around that. It sounds like there are some really shit cat breeders out there though!! I agree adopt don’t shop (although I didn’t exactly do that with our cats) (see below) but I did with my dog Kellie, she’s a rescue dog as her mum died giving birth on the streets. My sisters (who don’t speak to me - their issues not mine) both breed dogs for money but then get rid of the mothers when they have had too many litters. Jamie, my son, (who is an animal whisperer - I think with his autism it’s easier for him to relate to animals than some humans and I don’t have autism but I agree with him on that sometimes). Anyway, when he was about 10 he said to one of my sisters “dogs are for life, it’s wrong you just get rid of them” (his autism means he has no filter sometimes and just says what he thinks) 😂😂😂. My sister got really annoyed with him and said it was her business but I smiled with pride 😂😂 and was like “go Jamie 😂”!! And now he’s at Uni doing Zoology so he’s following his dream. You were really supportive to your late husband. That’s when I first “met” you and of course I liked you instantly. Please never feel you have to explain your decisions. I love watching your videos but I don’t like the idea that some people’s comments make you feel you have to explain something. This is your life and the decisions you make are yours alone 🥰😘. I’m so glad in time you learnt to let Poppy out of your shadow, I think you needed that. You needed to build your life your way. It’s great your mum and dad bonded with her and the family cat tolerated her. Of course the fact Poppy is well looked after and still in your family - that’s a lovely story. You’re her big sister now and she’s a cutie. I’m a dog person but have two cats as well. When my son was 15 I promised him he could get any pet he wanted for his birthday as he was having a tough time with ME/CFS and autism and his school wasn’t being supportive (that’s a whole other story). Anyway, he suggested a bearded dragon so after that a cat seemed an easy solution 😅 but then he met someone else’s rag doll cat so then he insisted we got a rag doll breed so we did and we her called Nala (as the Lion King is Jamie’s favourite musical and film). She is beautiful and is very clingy and very much like holding a rag doll (doll) at times. The year after we went on holiday and my mum looked after Nala for us and when we got back she didn’t want us to take Nala back, but it was Jamie’s cat so that wasn’t an option. Anyway, I found mum her own rag doll cat and she was happy for about a week and then she had a stroke so that’s when she came to live with us and it’s why I now have two cats 🙄🙄! Charlie (Charlotte) is my mum’s cat and she’s known in the family as “the naughty one”. You know at school there was always one kid that would just walk around looking for trouble?? Well that’s Charlie and she really winds my dog Kellie up, but if any of us say “Charlie stop it” like if she’s scratching the furniture, Kellie jumps into action and goes straight to Charlie to tell her off! End of credits: That water bottle is nearly as big as you Becca. You do know it’s possible to get a smaller bottle and refill it during the day?? 😂😂 Tx❤️ My end of credits:- You “trained” the cat. That wasn’t the end of the world at that time in your life. Don’t blame yourself for anything. Lots of love, Tx❤️
Tracie I know I say this every time, but your comments are just perfect. I know I've said this before (I'm starting to sound like a broken record I'm sure) but I hope one day we can actually sit with a cuppa and chat life. Your son sounds AWESOME. I would have been so proud at that comment too - and Lion King is the BEST film of all time. We went to Disneyland recently in Florida and I cried when I saw the Lion King part - I'm not even ashamed. Thank you so so so so much for being here. MASSIVE hug being sent your way. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
I love the way you think. I feel the same way and it's never easy to go against your own beliefs even though it's the 'right things to do' at that point. I am happy Poppy is happy and everything worked out fine.
Hey Becca your video made me cry for several reasons. One: I understand why you got Poppy in the first place (Dan's doing not yours). Two: Your feelings of keeping her safe right after Dan's passing...normal. Three: Your mindset on keeping her with you to "protect" her even on a train ride. Four: Your "Angel" parents caring for her whilst you were busy tending to Dan. Five: The attachment Poppy developed with your Dad and all his love pouring out for her. Six: You left her in wonderful hands to carry on with your life....to LIVE...just like Dan wanted you to do. And wrap around to the beginning....Poppy was not really your choice to begin with but out of love for someone else and now she is where she is meant to be. I am happy for BOTH of you! You are a wonderful lady. ❤🐈
Even though you doubt yourself, just by doing this one thing for poppy it proves that despite the difficulties you are a really good mum to her. Putting her first is the best thing you could do. Never think of any of this as a failure because although you were over protective of her, those of us who know you will know it all came from a good place, and in her way poppy will know that too and she’s still your girl & family so that’s all that you could wish for 😘❤️
@@IamBecca knowing all you’ve been through and the circumstances she came into your life in, I’m beyond proud of you for keeping her around. You Didn’t have to. Cut yourself a huge long piece of slack for this one. You did great. She’s a happy kitty 😸
Hi becca i followed you and tom in 2018 i had loss my son november 2017, i found your vlog was very inspiring and comforting to me i am glad to see your doing ok
I ve been married 25 years but i dont comment to often but i have to you are a natural beautiful woman not just your looks which is stunning but your heart and selflessness
Thank you so much Becca for letting us know where Poppy is❤ I'm happy that you visit her❤,I'm so happy you support adopt don't shop,I support that also
Yes - I very much support this. I understand their are exceptions (service animals etc!) but otherwise, we need to look after existing animals first. 🧡
Our dog that weve got now is a gorgeous German Shephard and we got her from a rescue centre and she had quite a rough childhood she had been in like multiple homes who had taken her back because she hadn't been trained properly and because of that she had like mental health issues herself she was very nervous and didn't know how to settle and i think was worried she was going to taken back, so when we got her we trained her up and she is amazing idk why anyone wouldn't want her
Aaw Becca, I'm so happy you opened up about this topic and were so honest about it. You can tell it's still a quite sensitive one for you and therefore the sick comment on the bottom is a complete b..s..t 😅 I am a crazy cat lady myself but can admit to myself that due to my current (and maybe forever) state of mental health I would not be able to look after it properly. As you say, hard enough to take care of yourselves sometimes. Also loved Poppy in the last clips although she seems like she hasn't forgiven you abt those trainrides yet 😂😂 Glad your daddy was able to see through that grumpy face of hers and fell in love with her 😅 Btw. I really love your make up in the last clips of the video. Take care xxx
This comment made me almost cry (happy cry!) and laugh at the same time. Thank you for being so wonderfully supportive - you're incredible and I am so glad you're here. 🧡
What a selfless thing to do. We adopted a cat, a little black cat called Luna. It takes a lot of love and patience to have a cat and you 100% did the right thing. One day you may get your cat for you. And I saw the Instagram post from the person who suggested it wasn’t decent to not name your late husband. I really don’t understand why someone would make such an insensitive and uninsightful comment (too many prefixes). Just know most of us 100% support you. You are amazing ❤
Aww Poppy is living her best, slightly aloof, but happy life with your folks, I love it! 🧡🧡 I remember her bringing joy when she was tiny kitten. I would have done the exact same thing in that position. You took wonderful care of her by letting her stay with your family and this way you can always visit! End of Credits Family: I keep wondering if I should get a mega jug. I do it the fussy, time consuming-to-wash way with several small reusable bottles 🤣🤣 (Thinking that they're "portable" for walks)
She really is!!!! And tahnk you so much for being so lovely and understanding. Always. 🧡 Oooooh yes get one!!!!! I can send you a link to mine if you want? 🧡
I love your story of Poppy! She's such a beautiful girl! I had a beautiful calico cat named Patches (she wasn't Persian) who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in 2016. The way you describe Poppy sounds like my Patches. Many calico cats have "catitude." They're loving when they feel like it, but also want their space. LOL! Of course, this doesn't apply to all calico cats. Your story also reminds me of the time my sister got a kitten (she named him Rocky) many years ago. She lived upstairs from my parents at the time. After getting Rocky, she started going out more and leaving him upstairs by himself. My parents would go up and get him and bring him downstairs so he wouldn't be by himself. Awhile later, my sister moved out to her own place. She told my parents she was going to leave Rocky with them. They had already gotten very attached to him and he got attached to them. My mom said, "I'm glad you decided to leave him with us. I didn't want to have a custody battle." LOL! End of credits fam! I would have to drink most of that water at home. If I drank all that at work, I'd have to move my desk to the bathroom. 🤣🧡
Oh my gosh. 'Catitude' is the best phrase EVER - I'm going to text this to my mum right now. And also - my mum and dad basically said the same thing about Poppy! I'm so glad someone can relate haha!! And end of credits fam for lifeeee!!!!! And hahha actually... Yeah you're right about the water bottle!!!! 🧡🧡🧡
So pleased to see this video. You obviously made the right choice for her even if you second guessed it at first. Does she still have her own Instagram page? 😂
I’m still here! I’ve had a very up and down couple of weeks - feeling as though I don’t have anything to offer - but this comment meant the world. I will be back soon. 🧡
@IamBecca Hi Becca! So very glad to see you! I was up early and you popped into my head (and Ms.Poppy. I remember when you & Dan got her) and here you were! I hadn't been on your Instagram or here in awhile. I came here because you always inspire me with your beautiful (and from the soul depths) writing. You have helped me so much by you sharing, to also find my way after caretaking and loss. To try to speak and live more authentically, getting to know myself again. I don't always do it brilliantly though. 😂 Thank you for the updates! So thrilled to see your happiness and joy these days ( saw your other life update video). Cats don't do anything they don't want to do, so you know Poppy is loving life at your dad's. Enjoy being her Auntie 2nd Mom 😊 Enjoy a beautiful day. xx Diane (from CT)
Hi Becca, thank you for posting the update on Poppy. It’s wonderful to know she is being cared for so well, she’s so cute. Your videos are great, you have a wonderful way of talking. 💕 Apologies if I have missed this as I haven’t watched all of your other videos just yet as I discovered your channel recently. I hope you don’t mind me asking about this, please delete this if so and I of course won’t ask about this again. I was just wondering if it’s a conscious decision not to refer to your late husband by his name?
Very cool video Becca, I'm sorry I got mad and was mean to someone making a stupid comment, I know the idea is positivity here, I apologize I couldn't keep my cool
@@IamBecca thank you and please please don't listen to that people, they have no idea of what they're talking about and what you went through, have a nice day Becca!!!
My sister and daughter would bring home strange kittens that should of been on Prozac. I ended up with Charlie for 13 years. Only loved me but yes so unaffectionate and would bite me. I understand. No pets now. I’m old😂 So glad Poppy got a great home.
Im just trying to imagine my cat on the train lol 😂 thanks for your honesty as ever. As you know im widowed too and we almost got a dog before he died. Not going to lie I've alwaye felt grateful we didnt as id never have been able to cope x
It seems that sometimes our pets come to us in ways we don’t expect. So maybe Poppy was really suppose to be your parents ! She probably runs from you now because she thinks she going to have another train ride! 😂❤
He was! I didn’t hear anything that Indicated that she dont think of him as important! Obviously she does if you’ve listened to any of her recent videos. Don’t judge her for not using her husbands name; she may not even be thinking about it and even if she is she probably has a reason. Besides, she does not have to do it just because you say she should, you are not her boss.
Felt the same. suspect its a coping tactic but it does come across as wrong. i talk about my family who have passed by their name. keeps everything alive imo.
After my dad died in 2020, my mom wanted a dog... I promised her I would take care of the dog when something happens to my mom... But honestly... I don't like the dog, I'm not a dog person; So if my mom dies, the dog will go to a friend of mine, that's a secret my mom doesn't have to know, she still thinks I'm going to take care of the dog; 🙂
If you watched the entire video you’d know the situation. There are so many reasons why someone may not be able to look after their pet any more - and it wasn’t an easy decision. People should be kinder and nicer to one another. I know I did the selfless thing in letting her stay with my parents and I’m happy with that decision. Goodbye! 🧡🧡🧡

Our dog that weve got now is a gorgeous German Shephard and we got her from a rescue centre and she had quite a rough childhood she had been in like multiple homes who had taken her back because she hadn't been trained properly and because of that she had like mental health issues herself she was very nervous and didn't know how to settle and i think was worried she was going to taken back, so when we got her we trained her up and she is amazing idk why anyone wouldn't want her
Owwww this story makes me so so so happy. You're a saint and she is so lucky to have you. 🧡
@@IamBecca No worries dear, it's you who's so incredible. So grateful that you returned on UA-cam ❤🌷🤗
Poppy is so cute! That grumpy face is amazing!! 😂❤
Hahaha I know right!
I cannot tell you how much I needed to read this. Thank you, honestly, from the bottom of my heart. Sending you and Luna a huge hug. 🧡
@@IamBecca Yes please! 😊
So glad that Poppy has been doing very well. #nevergive(her)up #nevergive(her)in :)
🧡🧡🧡
You did your best, in the end and is where she is meant to be. You're a strong young woman!
Thank you so so much. 🧡
I am glad Poppy has found a good home with your family. Su.xx
Aww. She is so cute! Id forgot about her! So glad she is all right. ❤
She’s pretty cute!!! 🧡
Yay for Poppy!
Poppy sounds just like my beautiful cat Twinkle in nature, Glad that she is doing well & living her best life 🐈 xXx
Maybe they would be friends!! Or just ignore each other... Ha!! Thank you so so much.
@@IamBecca Thank you! That definitely describes them. LOL! I sure can relate to all that. 🧡
Looks like Poppy is definitely happier with her new home. Cats are very good at sussing out cat lovers. She’s hit the jackpot with your dad.
This made me so happy to read - you're so right! 🧡
So pleased to see this video. You obviously made the right choice for her even if you second guessed it at first. Does she still have her own Instagram page? 😂
Haha thank you! And no she doesn't - I'm not sure I could trust my dad on Instagram!!! Haha! 🧡
Where are you Becca? We miss you
I’m still here!
Thank you for the updates!
Apologies if I have missed this as I haven’t watched all of your other videos just yet as I discovered your channel recently. I hope you don’t mind me asking about this, please delete this if so and I of course won’t ask about this again. I was just wondering if it’s a conscious decision not to refer to your late husband by his name?
I'm going to address this at some point. 🧡
Lots of love becca
It sounds like you made the right choice for Poppy 😊 x
I think so too! 🧡🧡🧡
Hope all is well
Thanks for letting us know...Poppy is poppin'
Hahaha I love this! 🧡
Hello from the states. I remember when you got Poppy 🥰🥰
🧡🧡🧡
Has your dad still got poppy? Xxx ❤
Yep! 😍
end of credits fam, also i have a sexist cat who growls and hisses everytime a woman enters the room
lol. Naughty kitty. :). Kitties can be so weird and funny!

This made me LAUGH!!! Haha!!!! I wonder who they were in a previous life?!?!! 🧡
Frank Sinatra?
Very cool video Becca, I'm sorry I got mad and was mean to someone making a stupid comment, I know the idea is positivity here, I apologize I couldn't keep my cool
Don't apologise!!!! You're lovely. Thank you so much for being here. 🧡
@@IamBecca thank you and please please don't listen to that people, they have no idea of what they're talking about and what you went through, have a nice day Becca!!!
Have a very Blessed day.
And you too. 🧡
My sister and daughter would bring home strange kittens that should of been on Prozac. I ended up with Charlie for 13 years. Only loved me but yes so unaffectionate and would bite me. I understand. No pets now. I’m old😂 So glad Poppy got a great home.
This made me really chuckle! To be honest, if I found anything on the streets they would be home with me in a heartbeat!!! 🧡
End of credits fam, doing well!
End of credits fam is my FAVE! 🧡
Im just trying to imagine my cat on the train lol 😂 thanks for your honesty as ever. As you know im widowed too and we almost got a dog before he died. Not going to lie I've alwaye felt grateful we didnt as id never have been able to cope x
Claire, I always know you will 'get it,' and that means the world to me. 🧡
Anyone can tell how you love her just by looking at your eyes when you talk about her!
Thank you. 🧡
May I say that you look like Rachel from Rachel and Jun?
I'm not sure who that is but I will Google! 🧡
Oh? well you are in for a treat if you watch their video.

Lol that was me. Idk why I said Ruby. So weird
Don't worry - it made me really chuckle!! You're so lovely! 🧡
Give poppy lots of kisses and hugs for me!!! Emma ❤️🩹s you!!! I have a calico!!!! Her name is Baby Girl!!! My mum named her...
I will!!!!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Becca, that's all anybody can ask!
It seems that sometimes our pets come to us in ways we don’t expect. So maybe Poppy was really suppose to be your parents ! She probably runs from you now because she thinks she going to have another train ride! 😂❤
I ADORE this. I think you're so so so right. And this made me LAUGH!!! Haha probably!!!!! 🧡🧡🧡
What a fluffy cutie
Hehe! 🧡

She’s so cute not fond of the limelight it seems
Nope! Don't blame her!? 🧡
Apologies I don’t blame her I’m like that as well
Haha don’t apologise!!! It made me chuckle. 🧡
Thanks glad to hear it made you laugh
EOCF: I'm moving house next month. There are so so so many boxes!
I'm glad Poppy is thriving.
Oooooooh!!!!! How are you getting on? EOCF!!!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
@@IamBecca Surprisingly well. I'm recovering from Covid, so...that wasn't fun. lol
Oh nooooo!! Sending you a long distance hug 🧡
Poppy’s gorgeous! 💙💙💙
Indeed. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
She has her moments!!!! 🧡
You dont even have the Decency to address your former husband by NAME, we know he passed away but he was suppose to be important in your life .
You should be ashamed writing this. Please delete it
Calm down. Maybe it's hard for her to say it out loud or something. We don't know her life.
Was kind of thinking the same thing to be honest.
As long as you're making the right decision for the dog - I think your mum would be happy. You're so lovely. 🧡
Wtf ? Uou guive up your cat ? Seriously ? I was wrong about you ciao .
If you watched the entire video you’d know the situation. There are so many reasons why someone may not be able to look after their pet any more - and it wasn’t an easy decision.
People should be kinder and nicer to one another. I know I did the selfless thing in letting her stay with my parents and I’m happy with that decision.
Goodbye! 🧡🧡🧡
