Thank you for the review Rob !!!!, I'm so happy that I don't have to purchase new iphone to update the software on my apple watch 6. Now I could purchase the pixel watch 2 and "sale" the apple watch 6 and iphone 8. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

That was quite an impressive performance. Especially the heart rate trekking was better than I expected. Now I'm very curious how the new Fitbit Charge 6 will perform since Fitbit/Google claims some very serious improvements (60% better) for that device incorporating the same technology as in the Pixel Watch 2. That would be the dream, great heart rate monitoring with the Fitbit sleep tracking in the form format of a tracker with long battery life. Hope you test the Charge 6 soon.
So glad I stumbled across this video. There seems to be a lot of negativity and snobbery against the watch based on subjective opinions (Apple's had a decade to get to where they are now) so it's good to see a more factual analysis of what the Pixel Watch 2 can do. I've been using the first gen watch for a year and while it had some GPS 'wobbles' early on it seems to be pretty good of late with reliable HR and sleep tracking overall. I look forward to the full in-depth review.
Pixel Watch 2 saved my life. HR detected up to 150 BPM while sitting. My Galaxy 4 showed 90. Went straight to the emergency room. 7 days later I'm checking out with an IFD and meds to live. I love Google.
If You feel bored enough, maybe a quick re-review of Garmin Fenix 7? @@TheQuantifiedScientist I've seen You've updated its performance on some charts compared to those from a review, and it got me thinking if it's now much more appealing choice for a first wearable, especially with its' dropped price :D

Really looking forward to your follow-up video. If you will allow me to make some suggestions, it would be nice to hear about battery life and also Fitbit vs Google Fit. Because visiting parents, is no excuse for not doing hardware reviews, right? 😉 Thanks for "pumping out" these quick initial pre-reviews Rob, in a effort to keep even those "impatient viewers" happy as well! 😉👍
Google seems working hard on pushing its watch towards the top 3 on your ranking Rob! But is there any app/ way to get HRV and tracking your wellness in more details with Pixel watch?
Wow! First time viewer here, found your link on a reddit post and I will say this is exactly what I've been searching for! Someone who is actually using the pixel watch 2 for its health and tracking capabilities for a true review, I just received mine today and am upgrading from a Fitbit sense so this was absolutely perfect! I have now subscribed and can't wait to continue to support your channel! I do just have one question were you using the pixel watch 2 LTE or WiFi only ? Also I can't wait for your full review!
"visiting parents in The Netherlands" is when I knew we were going to get an extremely technical and thorough review lol. Thank you for doing proper testing.
I'd love to hear even a quick re-review of Garmin Fenix 7, because people have been reporting for months now, that its' software seems to have gotten much better, and I've also noticed on the charts that You've changed its performance, and sleep tracking looks promisingly decent :) + its price dropped too so it might be a really good pick overall.
I love the pixel watch 2! I got it for free with my Pixel 8 pro purchase. The only downside is the battery life which lasts me a day, but at least it charges quickly. I charge it when I'm sitting down doing some work or relaxing, this way I can track my sleep or track my steps when I'm active.
It's comforting that the sleep trakcing improved significantly. Since I have the PW1, would you mind doing a retest on PW1? I wonder if the improvements are from software upgrade
You're such a huge data nerd - and I LOVE it! Thank you for the insights. I just got mine last week and loving it so far - good to know the accuracy is pretty good. Thanks.

This was an amazing review. I love data analysis and have never seen anyone produce this level of detail for tech reviews. Great job. Do you use R or Python for the graphs?
Rob, Excellent (initial) review! Makes me wonder about the poor performance of Samsung watches. Samsung has all technological and financial means to produce the world's best fitness watches. They apparently make a conscious decision to spend less and stay subpar. They do not experience commercial pressure to be better. Most people are completely clueless about the inaccuracy of their watches, so Samsung (and the GPS-focused outdoorsy gimmicky watches of Garmin and Polar) get away with crap. The TikTok generation wants appearance over substance, and most reviewers focus on exactly that. You are the exception!
@@TheQuantifiedScientist i noticed hearth accuracy gets better, when you turn off (stresstracker) like for pushups, i dont need to wait 1/2 before it works anymore.
The battle between samsung and Apple has always been quantity vs. quality. I have purchased gw6 classics without watching channels such as this one, and now i regret it. Average youtube reviewer focuses mostly on the quantitative factors, and we all know that corporations are there to make a profit. Reviewers don't don't have the expensive equipment to do in-depth review and testing. They wouldn't bother anyway because for them, the number of views is what matter. I doubt we will get more channels like this one. The amount of effort to test these watches is enormous, and it is not that rewarding. The only hope is the European Union. Mandatory accuracy star rating for medical equipment would help like it helps Apple users get usb-c charging port.
@@distiking Love your comment except for the very last point. Regulations exclusively benefit the industry leaders and suppress competition as they are too burdensome for smaller entrees to deal with.
@NYGuy2000 sure. The star rating would benefit those industry leaders who give a damn about their product . I don't see how this would affect consumers in a bad way. Many people don't have the time or will to do research when choosing a product. Price = quality or brand reputation is the most common factor. This was the case when i was buying my gw6. I was sure i would get the best performer when i pay top bucks and choose a well recognised brand, but instead, i ended up with a nice-looking toy. If there was a star rating on the box, I'm sure samsung wouldn't even release this thing. If this youtube channel didn't exist, i would probably be happy with my purchase, believe all the inaccurate information about my hr/sleep and possibly make decisions that could negatively affect my health.

Thank you for the videos! I would love to see a more quantitative test of the GPS on watches. I have a Watch 5 Pro and I bought it to track my 5K/10K runs but it consistently tracks my runs to be significantly shorter than they actually are which make it pretty unusable for that purpose. Maybe you would compare the distance recorded by the test watch for each ride against a trusted benchmark? That, alongside your visual comparisons would be very useful! I'm using a Galaxy Watch 4 now, but it seems that it didn't really get more reliable with the new versions, so this is a very interesting watch. Thank you for this extensive review!
Just found this channel while researching a watch to buy. Was going to go with the Vivomove Sport cause of style, but seeing the results, probably will be choosing the Pixel Watch 2. Thanks a lot for your videos, they're amazing and help a lot!
Great review. I wish you would go a little deeper and more scientific with GPS section. For example, what total distance was reported for each ride, how consistent were each mile markers, etc etc. My experience running with PW2 is that GPS is reporting very inaccurate distances vs Garmin Epix Pro and AWU2.
I'd love to see more about the accuracy of the calorie tracking (I'd imagine the software would be the most responsible for that?), step counting and their accuracy when underwater. Still, loved the video so 👍
@@humanchannel9421 You'd probably need some very sophisticated equipment to accurately track calorie expenditure, but I suppose the software on wrist devices can be tweaked so that it is not too far off from reality.
@@Scruffed Can't be done. For example, think about the caloric expenditure that would go into exerting an extreme force on your skeletal muscle, damaging it, and repairing it. How much skeletal muscle? Well, that also varies by exercise. That kind of thing would only be reflected on your wrist as a transient HR spike. It's just too complex to measure without sophisticated equipment.
I think you can't accurately track calories with just hand strap, but the closest thing your watch can offer in this field is accurate HR, accurate step count and GPS. If these parameters are measured accurately I think you will have a theoretical measurement of calories when walking/running based on weight and how many miles and your HR will show your pace when walking/running.
Hey thanks for your in depth reviews! I was wondering if you could also test the vo2 max estimates of the watches that you test (and that actually compute the vo2 max. For the pixel watch 2 the vo2 max estimates is called"cardio fitness score", but that value is supposed to be an estate of the vo2 max. Mine is higher than I would have expected even after months of using the watch and doing some running, so i was wondering how accurate that value tends to be for others (who may actually know their own ground truth because they have analysed it in a lab)
Been checking your channel for this videos every day! Thank you! So helpful when deciding between apple watch 9 or pixel watch 2, which I need to do today :)
Thanks for the review! Regarding the not tracked nicht: try to delete it in the Fitbit app and add manually again, then might the sleep stages appear. At least for my Fitbit Sense this sometimes helps.
Thank you soooo much for this video! I saw the Pixel Watch 1 watch as the only all around watch for Android, but wasn't pleased by the battery life and HW. I've preordered the Pixel Watch 2 and hoped to see you're video to confirm my expectations of it being the best watch for Android. Kudos to you and keep up the great work, now with your team :) Side question - have you ever encountered a watch which majorly struggled due to fit? E.g. a watch preforms terribly with its stock band, but with an aftermarket one it improves drastically?
Great video and comes just in time for me as I am looking around for a new watch for everyday tracking . The old PW was unfortunately not so my favorite because of the mixed results, but that looks better now. I hope that you somehow get a polar vantage v3 because that would currently be my most interesting favorite, if you just want to spend a lot of money. The sleep tracking of Polar would also interest me. Especially because the watch can also be connected to the H10.
Amazing channel and great quality reviews. @The Quantified Scientist would you please consider testing Casio G-Shock GBD-H2000 or GBD-H1000. Thank you!
Great Information! I wore both my Garmin 935 and Pixel watch 2 because I was curious about the data. During my morning walk there was about a tenth of a mile difference in gps tracking.

Interested to see how this compares to Venu 3 🤔
Thank you for getting this review done so early! Very detailed and organized presentation as usual.
Still, loved the video so 👍
It's not possible to accurately track calories.
Love this. I just got the new FITBIT CHARGE 6 and I'm loving it. I can't wait for you to do a video on it and compare with pixel watch 2.
Will there be a update on the pixel watch 2?
I love your data driven approach. I have to sub now.
If only Google wasn't so cheap and gave Pixel Watch buyers lifetime Fitbit premium... Or at least assign it to 1 Google account...
still waiting for the detailed review lol
You mentioned an update on the sleep tracking since you only had one night of data, is that sill in the works?
Love your work. No one comes close!
I think the sleep tracking is super accurate for me. It definitely tracks when I go to sleep and wake up .. almost to the minute lol
Please do a Fitbit charge 6 review ??
Hey thanks for your in depth reviews! I was wondering if you could also test the vo2 max estimates of the watches that you test (and that actually compute the vo2 max. For the pixel watch 2 the vo2 max estimates is called"cardio fitness score", but that value is supposed to be an estate of the vo2 max. Mine is higher than I would have expected even after months of using the watch and doing some running, so i was wondering how accurate that value tends to be for others (who may actually know their own ground truth because they have analysed it in a lab)
Great reviews. The Charge 6 looks the same as the Pixel 2 for heartrate--any significant difference?
What about the subscription to fitbit?
This video was the most important resource in making my purchase decision - thanks a lot, Rob!
Been checking your channel for this videos every day! Thank you! So helpful when deciding between apple watch 9 or pixel watch 2, which I need to do today :)
Happy to help!
@@TheQuantifiedScientistdo you already know when you will update the review with further data?
Thanks for the review! Regarding the not tracked nicht: try to delete it in the Fitbit app and add manually again, then might the sleep stages appear. At least for my Fitbit Sense this sometimes helps.
Wow! What an amazing comparison and expertise! Wow!
Thanks, please do Venu 3 :)
ur reviews r a life saver truly
Hello, would you make a test on the Fitbit charge 6 too?
Your test are perfects!
Kudos to you and keep up the great work, now with your team :)
Side question - have you ever encountered a watch which majorly struggled due to fit? E.g. a watch preforms terribly with its stock band, but with an aftermarket one it improves drastically?
Great video and comes just in time for me as I am looking around for a new watch for everyday tracking . The old PW was unfortunately not so my favorite because of the mixed results, but that looks better now.
I hope that you somehow get a polar vantage v3 because that would currently be my most interesting favorite, if you just want to spend a lot of money. The sleep tracking of Polar would also interest me. Especially because the watch can also be connected to the H10.
I am trying to get one early from Polar, but no luck so far... If you know anyone there, let me know ;-)
Amazing channel and great quality reviews. @The Quantified Scientist would you please consider testing Casio G-Shock GBD-H2000 or GBD-H1000. Thank you!
Thanks for the video! Please make a long review for this one!
Great Information! I wore both my Garmin 935 and Pixel watch 2 because I was curious about the data. During my morning walk there was about a tenth of a mile difference in gps tracking.
Do you recomnend me his purchase?
Amazing, unfortunately this watch seems to have poor battery life. Are you going to review Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro? I'd love your analysis on those. Love your channel ❤, I'm grateful for your great work! 🙏
I have seen from some reviewers battery life has been ok? But I guess it varies based on the features they use.
Can't wait for the in depth review
You do it best man...im grabbing one
been waiting for this
Hey, thanks for your videos! Did you have the time to make the full review of the Pixel Watch 2 testing it longer for sleep? I'm dying to see the results!
Great insights, doing a wonderful job.
Will the Scanwatch 2 follow? Thx for the Great work!
Yes please!😊
It's on my shortlist, but will be at least a month or two...
Thank you Rob!💥💥💥
Thank you very much - this is the Android watch I was most hopeful about and your review of it certainly didn't disappoint ❤
Well, it looks like I know what I'm getting myself this Christmas 😁
