My only criticisms are is I feel parrying window and rolling aren't as effective. Hell even with the fully upgraded shield rond designed around increasing parrying window and I still had some issues. The other game I could do it like a boss. I could even parry multiple attackers at once with fayes shielf before. But something feels off at times in this game. Sometimes I yell because I should totally have not gotten hit and the hit box says yes anyways and sometimes where I freak out on a huge attack thinking I'm dead and it misses me or gets parried when I thought I was fucked. Anyways I feel the combat has different timing compared to 2018. I also don't like how bloody long it takes to get runic attacks. It's like half way through the story even to get one heavy runic attack. That's way to long in my opinion. Pigeon holding you into just the basic attacks and only one light runic option for way too long. And im a player that clears every area that doesn't need special equipment to come back too. I took a long time before moving through the story in each realm so I know it's not that I was just missing the runic attacks. They just refuse to give you any for a long ass time. Kind-of wish jormangundr was in it more. And I fell atreus is less useful. Again runic summons take too long to get. And you can't upgrade his firing and reload speeds like you could last time. So he is less effective in my opinion. I missssss those chaining shock arrows he had as BOY!. Lol Other than those issues this was a phenomenal experience for me. The story and overall experience and feeling makes up for my combat gripes and nitpicks.
Just take your time inbetween the storyline and the side quests! Give yourself the time to explore after every story one. Going to hasty into the storyline doesnt grand you the stats you would liked to have by then. I had each world around 70% atleast finished before i killed odin.

Yeah although the moves with the weapons were indeed good but they sure could have added some more runic attacks which were an attraction point of GOW 2018. There are just not enough of the big guns.

While Elden Ring is personally my favorite game, I can absolutely see how someone would find it unlikeable. I think God of War Ragnarök is better on a broader spectrum, while Elden Ring is better on a more refined spectrum. Honestly, doesn't matter which wins Game of The Year, it'll be deserved either way. biggest problem with the gameplay is that there isn't a takedown with your hands. Your axe kind of just teleports in your hand. Not a big deal but its so fun playing only with your hands and arrows and going for stun takedown and having the axe teleport kind ruins it.

Only thing i didn't like about the game- We didn't get enough of that old school Kratos rage. Only a second or two of them at max. I expected to see them since Kratos brings down ragnarok upon the norse gods, but damn. Just imagine him beating Odin with that gow3 Zeus boss music
BIG WALL OF TEXT, BE WARNED... Love the game from the bottom of my heart, from the improved combat to the great narrative overall. God of War Ragnarok was an absolute blast for me, but the things that I think brought the game down for me were a few things. Firstly the Giants. I was among the crowd of people hoping for a Giant army we would be able to recruit so we could go out and lead them during Ragnarok. What we got was a teenage manic pixie dream girl (nothing wrong with Angroboda, I loved her) and her psycho/addicted grandma in the boonies of the 9 Realms. We also find out that the Giants after realizing they couldn't handle getting bodied by the Aesir (THOR) basically just fck off, opportunity missed. I know they were going with the whole conflict isn't the only way to solve a problem and or taking the high road in a bad situation, but I thought that was really weak. Hate me for it, boo. Secondly in my humble opinion, Atreus was written horribly in this game. Throughout the entirety of GOW 2018 we dig up lore of all the bad things that the Odin has done to people and the 9 Realms overall. We've heard tales of Odin being directly or indirectly involved with the deaths of multiple Giants (Ymir, Skadi, Groa, Hrungnir, Hrimthur, Starkaðr to name a few). We've seen his actions negatively affect the realms (The Desolation). We've even met people who got screwed over big time because of him (Freya, the Valkyries and the smartest man alive himself Mimir). So knowing all these bad things I'm thinking. Oh, what part of learning all the bad things he's done makes a BOY think that going to the biggest SOB in all the realms for answers is a good idea. I get that Atreus wants to "grow up" and be independent in the story. But his whole Loki and Champion of the Giants to me felt like eighth grader syndrome at its finest. What I'd expect from a demigod son of THE GOD OF WAR after training and surviving Fimbulwinter of all things would be to make smart choices (or to the game writers plausible choices). These are my two cents on the subject, take it as you will
I am a huge fan of Souls and GoW. Both are 2 of my top 5 favorite franchises of all time. I think that Elden Ring was the better video game and the one I’ll remember the most as the most mind blowing. But I think I enjoyed Ragnarok slightly more. It was a cleaner experience, it was a great balance of gameplay and story. Its just that Ragnarok I don’t think it was quite ambitious enough. I’d give ER a 9.5/10 and GoW Ragnarok a 9/10.
been playing souls game since demon souls came out in 2009 and i have to say your take on it is ignorant all though i can respect that it’s not for you. been playing god of war since i was 8 years old,i’m 25 now and still love it. i feel the elden and GOW are both amazing but for different reasons. i love both games but i would have to say elden is better
I agree almost with everything you said but these are my problems with this game. Faye calling Kratos “good boy” rubbed me the wrong way….I don’t remember his Greek wife disrespecting him like that. “Good boy” took down Olympus and Aesir yet she treats him like a little bitch😒 I liked her better when she wasn’t on screen aka 2018. Backtracking/map/compass are dog shit. They padded the game’s length with puzzles , labyrinths, repeat bosses…and generic loot grinding. I also don’t like how they don’t tell you that you need an item you don’t have…2018 had this problem, they double down on it I love this game but I hate copy paste content when I’m going for platinum. Story, visuals, characters, combat, music, worlds, side quests are high quality…
my only complaint is how quippy some characters could get. atreus was way better in this game but his god awful rizz with angrboda took me out a little bit

If this trend continues, the medium progresses towards making average games, and mediocre films, then the medium may miss out on its unique artistic-potential. People have criticised Kojima/Naughty Dog for making Flim-games, butthey separates watching cutscenes, from playing: the gameplay is open-ended and involved, the cutscenes are well presented and engaging; cinematic gameplay, cutscenes I'm involved in because of the gameplay. They never made the gameplay into cutscenes; exchanging freedom for linearity, complexity for simplicity; make films out of videogames. This is a true film-game, as such it's neither a good film nor game. I respect ur videos opinion though, this is just my own! (All except for the Elden Ring opinion)

I liked that game but I'm not really a souls games kind of person... I like every big and small detail about "good" of war ragnarok. Both the 2018 and Ragnarok is great hope to see a sequel in future. Norse mythology is done hopefully next is Egyptian or Japanese mythology. But I wish Norse have more to it.
I feel like the story is the weakest aspect of the game. But when everything is 10/10, and the story is 9/10, that's not a bad thing at all. I just wish we could have fought Thor while riding on the back of Jörmungandr. I felt like Jörmungandr and Fenrir were sorely underutilized from the Ragnarok portion of the game. I also felt the game could have been longer, or hell, just make it two games, so we get a full trilogy. Overall, I was happy with the experience, and it's the only game to ever make me cry twice.
Look, I’ll say this while defending the game at it’s launched and my first play though, I loved it but I also realized some criticisms made are true but not to the extend where something “isn’t there” I know that’s confusing so let me use an example people complain about the climax of the story which I’m a little iffy about too I guess but the climax itself is great but COULD HAVE had a lot more potential that wouldn’t be too hard to implement so basically this is good but it could be better and I have the same thing with combat, scale and arena creativity etc. but this is without a doubt a masterful game and I hope the new saga hopefully Egyptian can capatilize on the complaints people had considering they don’t have to be afraid of doing too much change this time around and innovating instead of improving on a previous installment. honestly the only reason why im playing it is because my mother likes the story for some odd reason, part of it must have to do with shes never been exposed to alot of game stories, i say turok 3 has a better story than god of war ragnarok. had no choice but to get this game bundled with ps5 beggers cant be choosers. while my mother enjoys the story i sort of like the combat whenever it happens. most of it is just kratos being a whiny moody grandpa making me believe its not actually kratos and walking and talking and annoying puzzles that would have been good if it was just 2 times but it outstayed its welcome. its so boring walking around i dont even bother trying to find upgrades for my gear i just put it on GIVE ME GRACE difficulty so its not too easy but it is not impossible without upgraded gear. honestly trying to break my instinct and find combos like heavy axe attack and arrow and then small attacks then arrow again to stun them that can be pretty fun but like i said before most of it is just walking and talking and kratos nagging.
Game of the year for me, hands down! So glad so many people go to experience this masterpiece in the same way I did. Really hope we get a new game plus soon

The title is actually correct and this game is not good. $70 for this? I thought it was gonna be on the scale of god of war 3. The rpg elements, skills rest story plat holes from 2018 and majority the same reskin game I want be buying. From the start of the video you say it's a game made by celestials yet you have so many complaints also. I think Spider-Man 2 will be a masterpiece from insomniac even though I didn't like rift apart that much compared to 2016. Spider-Man 2018 was such an ambitious game that I have 100+ hours in and is the first game I pre-ordered.
*SPOILERS AHEAD* For me i was an 8.5 out of 10. TOO many Atreus segments. No 4th weapon for thors hammer with a dual wield with a Leviathan axe (like ninja Gaiden 3 with the dragon and fiend swords). I felt a lack of gore where it fit (e.g heimdall fight), lack of epicness in boss fights (better than 2018, overall, but 2nd Thor and Odin battles where underwhelming), the story is cool but flip flops around if fate is a thing or nah. GMGoW difficulty has bullshit super armor on enemies that kills combo flow and last, RPG and level systems remain stupid and pointless. I really enjoyed the norse saga, but they need to go back to fixed camera and more epicness if they plan to cotinue the IP.
Having almost 2000h on gow 2018 I can say that I’m pleased with ragnarok over all, I have some problems with certain changes that they have made to the combat but overall it’s pretty good. The one thing that is praised way too much is the story… it’s decent but definitely not as good as it could have been: there are plot holes an unfinished/rushed plot lines

The pacing of the game is just incredibly poor in both gameplay and story. Ragnarok has little to no replay value for me, which in my books means it is not a masterpiece of a game like many say.

Love the game from the bottom of my heart, from the improved combat to the great narrative overall. God of War Ragnarok was an absolute blast for me, but the things that I think brought the game down for me were a few things. Firstly the Giants. I was among the crowd of people hoping for a Giant army we would be able to recruit so we could go out and lead them during Ragnarok. What we got was a teenage manic pixie dream girl (nothing wrong with Angroboda, I loved her) and her psycho/addicted grandma in the boonies of the 9 Realms. We also find out that the Giants after realizing they couldn't handle getting bodied by the Aesir (THOR) basically just fck off, opportunity missed. I know they were going with the whole conflict isn't the only way to solve a problem and or taking the high road in a bad situation, but I thought that was really weak. Hate me for it, boo.
Secondly in my humble opinion, Atreus was written horribly in this game. Throughout the entirety of GOW 2018 we dig up lore of all the bad things that the Odin has done to people and the 9 Realms overall. We've heard tales of Odin being directly or indirectly involved with the deaths of multiple Giants (Ymir, Skadi, Groa, Hrungnir, Hrimthur, Starkaðr to name a few). We've seen his actions negatively affect the realms (The Desolation). We've even met people who got screwed over big time because of him (Freya, the Valkyries and the smartest man alive himself Mimir). So knowing all these bad things I'm thinking. Oh, what part of learning all the bad things he's done makes a BOY think that going to the biggest SOB in all the realms for answers is a good idea. I get that Atreus wants to "grow up" and be independent in the story. But his whole Loki and Champion of the Giants to me felt like eighth grader syndrome at its finest. What I'd expect from a demigod son of THE GOD OF WAR after training and surviving Fimbulwinter of all things would be to make smart choices (or to the game writers plausible choices).

I am a huge fan of Souls and GoW. Both are 2 of my top 5 favorite franchises of all time. I think that Elden Ring was the better video game and the one I’ll remember the most as the most mind blowing. But I think I enjoyed Ragnarok slightly more. It was a cleaner experience, it was a great balance of gameplay and story. Its just that Ragnarok I don’t think it was quite ambitious enough. I’d give ER a 9.5/10 and GoW Ragnarok a 9/10.
been playing souls game since demon souls came out in 2009 and i have to say your take on it is ignorant all though i can respect that it’s not for you. been playing god of war since i was 8 years old,i’m 25 now and still love it. i feel the elden and GOW are both amazing but for different reasons. i love both games but i would have to say elden is better

Faye calling Kratos “good boy” rubbed me the wrong way….I don’t remember his Greek wife disrespecting him like that. “Good boy” took down Olympus and Aesir yet she treats him like a little bitch😒 I liked her better when she wasn’t on screen aka 2018.
Backtracking/map/compass are dog shit. They padded the game’s length with puzzles , labyrinths,
repeat bosses…and generic loot grinding. I also don’t like how they don’t tell you that you need an item you don’t have…2018 had this problem, they double down on it
I love this game but I hate copy paste content when I’m going for platinum. Story, visuals, characters, combat, music, worlds, side quests are high quality…
my only complaint is how quippy some characters could get. atreus was way better in this game but his god awful rizz with angrboda took me out a little bit

Alright game hidden by its impressive technical presentation; get rid of its presentation, and most aspects of its design appear average-mediocre in quality: Dialogue/Gameplay/Storytelling and overall Writing. If this trend continues, the medium progresses towards making average games, and mediocre films, then the medium may miss out on its unique artistic-potential. People have criticised Kojima/Naughty Dog for making Flim-games, butthey separates watching cutscenes, from playing: the gameplay is open-ended and involved, the cutscenes are well presented and engaging; cinematic gameplay, cutscenes I'm involved in because of the gameplay. They never made the gameplay into cutscenes; exchanging freedom for linearity, complexity for simplicity; make films out of videogames. This is a true film-game, as such it's neither a good film nor game. I respect ur videos opinion though, this is just my own! (All except for the Elden Ring opinion)
We should have fought Odin WITH Thor rather than Atreus at first. If Thor has to die, he should have died after the first fight.

I think 2018 has better pacing. I also liked the simplicity of the journey but Ragnarok definitely upped the ante

Both the 2018 and Ragnarok is great hope to see a sequel in future. Norse mythology is done hopefully next is Egyptian or Japanese mythology. But I wish Norse have more to it.

I feel like the story is the weakest aspect of the game. But when everything is 10/10, and the story is 9/10, that's not a bad thing at all.
I just wish we could have fought Thor while riding on the back of Jörmungandr. I felt like Jörmungandr and Fenrir were sorely underutilized from the Ragnarok portion of the game.
I also felt the game could have been longer, or hell, just make it two games, so we get a full trilogy.
Overall, I was happy with the experience, and it's the only game to ever make me cry twice.

Look, I’ll say this while defending the game at it’s launched and my first play though, I loved it but I also realized some criticisms made are true but not to the extend where something “isn’t there” I know that’s confusing so let me use an example people complain about the climax of the story which I’m a little iffy about too I guess but the climax itself is great but COULD HAVE had a lot more potential that wouldn’t be too hard to implement so basically this is good but it could be better and I have the same thing with combat, scale and arena creativity etc. but this is without a doubt a masterful game and I hope the new saga hopefully Egyptian can capatilize on the complaints people had considering they don’t have to be afraid of doing too much change this time around and innovating instead of improving on a previous installment. Edit: I hate autocorrect, but I’m too lazy to change the grammar and spelling so whatever

honestly the only reason why im playing it is because my mother likes the story for some odd reason, part of it must have to do with shes never been exposed to alot of game stories, i say turok 3 has a better story than god of war ragnarok. had no choice but to get this game bundled with ps5 beggers cant be choosers. while my mother enjoys the story i sort of like the combat whenever it happens. most of it is just kratos being a whiny moody grandpa making me believe its not actually kratos and walking and talking and annoying puzzles that would have been good if it was just 2 times but it outstayed its welcome. its so boring walking around i dont even bother trying to find upgrades for my gear i just put it on GIVE ME GRACE difficulty so its not too easy but it is not impossible without upgraded gear. honestly trying to break my instinct and find combos like heavy axe attack and arrow and then small attacks then arrow again to stun them that can be pretty fun but like i said before most of it is just walking and talking and kratos nagging.

The title is actually correct and this game is not good. $70 for this? I thought it was gonna be on the scale of god of war 3. The rpg elements, skills rest story plat holes from 2018 and majority the same reskin game I want be buying. From the start of the video you say it's a game made by celestials yet you have so many complaints also.
I think Spider-Man 2 will be a masterpiece from insomniac even though I didn't like rift apart that much compared to 2016. Spider-Man 2018 was such an ambitious game that I have 100+ hours in and is the first game I pre-ordered.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
For me i was an 8.5 out of 10. TOO many Atreus segments. No 4th weapon for thors hammer with a dual wield with a Leviathan axe (like ninja Gaiden 3 with the dragon and fiend swords). I felt a lack of gore where it fit (e.g heimdall fight), lack of epicness in boss fights (better than 2018, overall, but 2nd Thor and Odin battles where underwhelming), the story is cool but flip flops around if fate is a thing or nah. GMGoW difficulty has bullshit super armor on enemies that kills combo flow and last, RPG and level systems remain stupid and pointless. I really enjoyed the norse saga, but they need to go back to fixed camera and more epicness if they plan to cotinue the IP.
Only thing that isn't good with God of War Ragnarok, is that there is no new game plus.
Having almost 2000h on gow 2018 I can say that I’m pleased with ragnarok over all, I have some problems with certain changes that they have made to the combat but overall it’s pretty good. The one thing that is praised way too much is the story… it’s decent but definitely not as good as it could have been: there are plot holes an unfinished/rushed plot lines

More about the mask, who blew the horn when atreus was sick,more about faye,how did kratos get to Norse,it would be great if kratos told atreus about his last family (maybe they are saving it for next games),what happened to freed dragons,ending feels rushed,they should have made crazy fight against Thor and Odin even tho their fights are great it feels kinda rushed

The pacing of the game is just incredibly poor in both gameplay and story. Ragnarok has little to no replay value for me, which in my books means it is not a masterpiece of a game like many say.
I figured the title was clickbait lol, kinda figured you would say it was an "amazing game" or whatever within the first 15 seconds
I just think there are so many side quests to get distracted by, that the story loses focus at times
Well they are optional you know, and some are done in like 10-20 minutes.
