I've seen complaints from people that he was too open, like in the first game he didn't really talk too much about his life and that was somehow better, but people don't realize that the whole point is Kratos is more open because he's developing as a character to be more trusting and open to confronting and overcoming his past. I feel like people complaining just want this stoic emotionless Kratos who responds to everything with "hm, i do not wish to speak of this"

I disagree, the dialogue felt way too cartoony/marvel like rather than a god of war game. In the previous game, kratos barely spoke but when he did you hanged on to every word because of how meaningful it was, and the dialogue in general held a lot of weight. Compare it to this game where we have Odin, a god who massacred a complete race, a manipulative psycho who kills everyone who’s not useful to him, referring to freya as “my ex”. Some of the lines were really cringe and didn’t fit the context of the game at all. While overall the idea of the story was good the execution wasn’t and I really wish cory directed this one instead.

Then Kratos said “You can’t sail away from your problems…if you are to sail, do it toward somewhere.” It's funny that when Mimir asked if Kratos had ever written any poems, Kratos just smirked at the idea. When you go to the Dwarven realm with Brok, and get the new spear, the music hit just as hard as a track from doom eternal. I also didn’t enjoy how they did Odin and a lot of the Aesir. He wasn’t threatening at all and felt like a mob boss. I get they didn’t want to just make the Greek Pantheon again, but when they built up the characters in 2018 they felt so much more of a threat.

Agreed on all fronts. What an amazing story, with phenomenal voice acting, writing, and mo-capping. I couldn't stop sobbing for a while after finishing it, including a few shed tears throughout.
Fun, more intricate combat and amazing areas to explore. One of my main gripes with GoW 2018s exploration was that we mostly just got to see Midgard, and even then we were partially limited to the lake of the nine in terms of open-world exploration.
With this one, they really blew it out of the park with how many different environments and landscapes you could explore, and just how detailed and alive some of them felt!
I have to unfortunately also agree with the negatives. While I don't mind the patient style of combat as much (though I'm also not nearly as good at the game as Charlie lol, I did also play on gmgow though), I hated the companion's backseating at every step of the way

This is a game worth showing to our grandchildren one day. My major issue is that it feels like they cut a few hours from the end of the story. I completely support that there wasn't enough story to make it work out for three games as originally planned, but I still would've loved more buildup for Ragnarok and its major events. What's insane is the story and game are still insanely long even after the condensed feel of the final act. Replay value of this game also seems like it's worth giving a few completionist runs for before putting down. I hope they can at least give us some type of expansion pack or new story to fill in the gaps before they move onto whatever they're *clearly* setting up for Atreus.
