Well it meant to be cheap and spamable You don't expect a base killing force from a unit that you can built 4 of theme arly game without making a dent in your wallet right?
I'd like to add a note about the wide and low design of the t2/t3 attack buggies; Keeping a wide but low profile means terrain is more effective at providing cover, allowing even small differences in elevation to give the buggy fully cover where as a conventional tank would still be mostly exposed. The wide profile is also likely why it doesnt alert veinhole monsters - spreading its low weight out so much likely reduces the agitation to the veins as it passes over them. Considering even the weight of a jumpjet pack was enough to anger the beast, I'll assume this design choice was intentional.
That's probably a good reason why they fire stationery in game. Perhaps, a skilled rider could perform the mobile firing, which would make sense and give a layer of interesting depth to these guys.

Reminds me how I would do a distraction with tick tanks artillery and stealth tanks at their front base and side line them with bikes for behind in tiberium dawn
For some reason you never really get to fight recon bikes in the original GDI missions in Tiberian Dawn. AI oversight or hard-coded that way, I don't know which. Perhaps recon bikes would have made the game harder. Then again you don't really get to fight and destroy any recon bikes in the Renegade single-player campaign.
I think the two round salvo limitation is a safety feature, for the benefit of the bike driver. Exposed as the driver is I'd think missile blast and heat from the rocket motor would be just as dangerous as incoming fire to the driver. I doubt Nod's VA would cover injuries caused by missile blast, citing it as non service connected.
So what do you have to offer in terms of armoured units? GDI: we have medium tanks and titans! The most versatile and advanced tanks around! Soviets: wi chave the cheavy tenk! Built of pure Stallinium, with the biggest bang for your ruble! Allies: our light and medium tanks are the most precise tools, fit for for the most civilised form of combined arms warfare. the more you look at the arsenals of both GDI and NOD, the more i feel like C&C 3 is more a sequel to the first game and less one to tib sun when it comes to unit rosters
That's what it was unofficially intended to be. You can see this in everything, from the GDI Pitbull, being almost a dead ringer to the humvee, the power plants for both factions, being very similar to their original designs, the NOD barracks and even GDI going back to the mammoth mark 1 designs, after having the mammoth mark two.
Like E here said, TW3 was supposed to be kind of a soft reboot, which is why most of the unit designs are similar to the first game. Originally TW3 wasn't even supposed to have blue tiberium, but the devs added it in since fans wanted it.
part of me likes CnC3's attack back, looks light and slim but an amazing unit I find myself using far more in recent playthroughs. But I always thought the buggy in 3 had a canopy but I guess I was misremembering.
Considering how much of a death trap some of these buggy/bike designs are, I am assuming none of the more of their mind members of the Brotherhood would ever pilot one of those things. I wonder how Nod kept those more well minded folk from just becoming disillusioned and disgusted with their more "Brothers are expendable" type deals, like the bikes/buggies. Stands to reason, even among a sea of zealots and extremists you had to have some who weren't that convinced, and due to human nature their numbers were likely a bit too high to just use the good ol "Report to faith re-structuring" approach involving a lovely chat with a member of the Black Hand beating some sense into them. I can't imagine a more frustrating job in the Tiberian universe though than being in the Brotherhoods safety and security division, trying to fruitlessly argue against things like the Tiberian Wars era buggy being too dangerous to friendlies to be used, to no avail. Well, maybe they get peer support from the guy who has to try to deal with Harvester number two taking a detour through the GDI base on their way back to the Tiberium refinery, or investigating why two harvesters seemingly for no reason decided to drive into one another on a narrow land strip and neither of them just moved aside. Or whoever deals with two tanks parking next to each other thinking it's guarding while a snarky attitude filled commando full of one-liners is busy blowing the base up, while those dang German pioneers are out for lunch, so the Temple of Nod isn't getting rebuilt after nobody informed the frustrated base commander about GDI's ion cannon being in orbit above it after they spent a lot of time setting up base defenses, one of which seems to have gone missing after a bunch of Brothers thought it was a good idea to carry an Obelisk of Light into battle.
Remember - To know the past, is to conquer the future. Assimilate the fandoms history, for it is your own. Kane probably doesn't want it, as it's a particularly humiliating episode in the Brotherhoods past, but hey, we all could use a bit of Tiberium Ectacy in our lives time to time.
I understand the concept of thunder attack & run but I found it dumb that they don't have armour at all. And why remove the bulletproof glass on the bikes ? Doesn't loik like a good idea at all to leave the trooper so exposed.
because armor adds weight and cost. Also we're only basing this off of how the model looks versus how it actually performs. While the design of buggy is absolutely unsafe, the real issue was if it really did matter? These are units are supposed to be disposable anyway.
