To those of you who don't know, NEVER WEAR GROVES AROUND ANYTHING THAT'S ROTATING!!!! NEEEEVVVER!!! No gloves, you'll cut your finger, gloves, it DRAGS YOUR WHOLE HAND IN AND MUTILATES IT!! This has been a public service message form a mechanic of 31 years. DON'T DO IT!! I'm not kidding around, DON'T! It's the difference between missing a finger, and missing a hand...
this is 100% NOT the way to set idle on the omc 3 cylinder motors. idle is set by the timing, at idle it should be 4 deg ATDC this is what will give the correct idle.. the screws he is messing around with are the throttle cable stop both slow and fast..
oh, so this is how you adjust the idle. just force the spark advance back and forth with throttle cable connected, and then start moving the screw around to dial it in . Sweet. read a manual holmes
I put the throttle all the way down at control box and it's only halfway at engine? is there a way to tighten the throttle up I tried it at motor but when I put it back in neutral the engine is over reving? Is there something on control box end I can do?
Johnson 70hp outboard motor I got this motor is an old motor there is no serial# or model# it runs great how can I find out the model or serial on it so I can get parts for it all I hear is that Johnson an evinrude had lots of problems with model an serial# back then what can I do thanks.
There should also be a sticker on motor or mount somewhere with year of manufacture, model # and hp. I have a 99 Johnson. The ID sticker on mine is on left side of mount.

Very true!
I've seen it happen on a large grind wheel!
Would help if you actually show how to adjust the idle on this motor and not just play with the RPM's.
There is a rod with a nut that touches the carburetors cam follower adjust it out for faster in for slower. It’s pretty simple

This engine is a 1979 model...
Please be very careful, don't get your arm caught in that flywheel!
Thanks mom
your welcome!
I just how to do absolutely nothing.except Rev an engine !!!!!
What a waste of time. This is not how to adjust the idle, this is what someone does that does not know what they are doing.
Yeah I know but thanks for watching

This video tells me nothing.
Yea ill delete this video bro amd try again.
Setting idle but prop is turning?..🙄
This vid is wack
And the point was?
I have a 1982 70 Evinrude. first start in 3 yrs. . Super high revving in neutral . What should I look at?
Ever figure it out?
Yes I did. had the idle set way to fast. Just backed off the arm.@@S197_AD

jase davids did you fix the problem? What was wrong?
Same problem

have a 50hp johnson motor want idle or stay running to get in gear need to know what to do to fix problem
i have same problem. 1975 Johnson kills when I lower the warm up lever to shift into gear. any advice would be welcome.
50 hp also
What was the problem??
John Miranda I have the same problem when I lower it down to put it in gear it stalls out
Has anyone found a solution? I’m having the same problem as we speak with my 1974 50hp Johnson
He is burning up the fresh water impeller.
Why? It's peeing fine
wrong
WTH
first
1974 :D
Do you know what is the year of this engine. I have the same one but don't know the year and I need some spare parts
Petar-Nino Krnić on the top freeze plug their should be a number google the number and it will come up with the year

Looks like a 1990
@@qdnt7828 not even close to a 90 dumb ass stfu unless u k ow
