As a clinician and researcher in psychiatry, I'm going to say it: Don't bother with the Freud books lol. It's incredibly dense, our knowledge and research of psychology has changed DRAMATICALLY, and for the most part, Freud was wrong about most basic things we know about the mind today. Unless you're super into psychoanalysis (which is fine), then it wouldn't hold much value for you. He was also incredibly biased against women and pathologized them for most of his career.
gift giving is how I prefer to show love. I like showing someone that I thought of them while away, or that I've been listening, or that I know them really well. It's the thoughtfulness aspect.
Acts of service always moves on up for moms lol. Mine used to be words of affirmation too, but now I am totally acts of service!

Freud’s psychology has been largely discredited. Don’t put a lot of importance on his theories.

learning to affirm yourself is *Powerful* , and transformative. people have less sway over you, and an aura of charisma forms around you. Because you trust yourself more.

Love the insights on love languages and how they can change in time. Personally, what we've noticed as a couple is that what you may like to receive is not necessarily the same as what you like to give or even what your partner may like to receive. Does that make sense? Bottom line, is that communication is key as we change as individuals and couples and to make sure we understand what our partner needs and what our needs are. Always a treat watching your vids!
I'm not the biggest reader but I love how books can make a house feel like a home.

I personally really like receiving food for gifts! It could be a nice balsamic vinegar, some decadent cookies, or homemade granola... I have so many things at home and I don't want to just accumulate more things nowadays.
Having said that, books always make really lovely gifts. I do appreciate it if they are second hand!!

Thank you thank you for this content Jenn. You probably won't see this, but when you share even just your highlights of inspiration, it gives me my own inspiration for self improvement. Seeing you constantly expanding your horizons and the things you find fascinating inspire me to get out of the funks I can sometimes find myself in. You've encouraged me to investigate further into different authors, meditations, therapies, and education that have all had a small improvement of my day to day life. Wishing you all the best Jenn!

my mom at some points in my life, posed to me that friendships are like a spice rack. sometimes u crave different flavors! it's up to u to decide ur fav flavs, and also what speckles help keep things harmonious! always be sure to keep U in mind.

Definitely surrounding yourself with good people are a must 👏🏼 Since becoming a mother, I have not seen much of my friends. It has really just been interactions at work 😅 Every time I would try to make plans with friends, either someone would flake or they get sick. It sometimes seems to me like I’m the only one who reaches out asking how they are doing. 😞

I loved your talk about friendships. Once I graduated and moved away from home, I found it scary and exciting to make new friends. However, I've found that I tend to hold myself back and not let people in as closely because of past close friendships that didn't work out. Do you have any advice for this?

The way I like to give love is completely different from the way I like to receive it strangely. But word of affirmation has always been my last one. Showing love by actions is a proof of love. Gifting is such a good way to show that you care by offering something personal that prove you paid attention to the other wants, needs and stories. That way they know you really paid attention and cared about what they said to you. 😊

Just a note on Freud - definitely important to read but make sure you check out the subsequent critiques of his work as well, as much of it has been debunked since.

Era of abundance is how I'm feeling right now. I've never had a lot of girl friends but right now I'm surrounded by the best women I've ever met who all care about one another. It's amazing. Hiya just a comment on your clip saying they don’t make books like this anymore, good news is they do! That book looks like it’s from a really nice company called The Folio Society. They had a beautiful range of books in those beautiful gift editions

Interestingly, I don't show love the same way I like to receive it. I would say that touch and quality time is how I want to receive it and feeling the most loved, but show it to others with quality time and acts of service :3

I am that friend who is usually available, present, and consistent.. but when I'm the only one reaching out, it gets old and then I tell myself I need to respect my time and energy so then I isolate myself and it's just this cycle... you ever felt that way?

Giving and receiving can be different.. FOr instance, I love receiving Physical touch but I give acts of service as most of my family and loved ones are Asian and that's the love language they had growing up
