@@adab.3681 me too, it was the Roman Szmal paints! The first one I opened was a mess bur I popped the rest in the freezer for a few minutes and then I managed to get the paper off without wasting paint.
The chickens are lovely. Rosa Gallery paint seems to be a king a splash these days. They get great reviews, are adding new colors, and are very affordable. Good to see the brand is doing well in difficult times. Thanks for the video, Becky.
Cute chickens, your painting came out great. I have a set of Rosa and love them, very good to paint with, and nice quality. A number of reviews I watched before getting them reckoned they were very flowy, I don’t paint a lot wet into wet so did not particularly notice this, they flowed when I wanted them to and stayed put when I wanted them to. They sort of replaced my White Nights which I was finding hard to enjoy, I found the Rosa very cleanly produced, but not really similar to the rival brand, they are quite different to use. My set is 28 which is more than adequate, with nothing I disliked. And good value too. I just love full pans! Have a lot of fun using these, I really love paints that do not feel too precious to use….
These definitely feel different to the White Nights - I haven't used the latter for a while, but I remember them being stickier or something. Rosa paints didn't bloom a lot for me, with the exception of the indigo swatch. I like them a lot so far! A 28 set would be lovely too, I'm sure! I can't fit any more right now, lol.
Nice. I like those watercolors. I was thinking about getting them from Amazon. I am not as talented as you are but it'll be fun. Thanks for a nother great video.
I need to buy some watercolour brushes that are not garbage. I forgot I had some Lyra watercolour pastels. You can use them several different ways. Makes it actually challenging to use in the limited time doing life drawing poses of 5 or 10 minutes. 20 might be a bit better.
I prefer 20 minutes for life drawing too! There are lots of great brush options out there now, which are decent and affordable. Both in natural and synthetic fibres depending on what you prefer.
Lovely set of paints! Good selection of colours too, that purple black wow!! But I'm quite disappointed that you called your lovely artwork chickens......ermm your Australian where was the 'chooks' I was actually waiting for you to say that word for so long hahaha! :D
I just looked Rosa watercolours up for price comparison and those are really affordable. I can buy a student grade set with 24 colours for under € 30,-, that's amazing and the quality seems very reasonable. Thanks for the upload Becky!
After watching this video, I have purchased them from Amazon in 🇨🇦. Can’t wait. Thank you for bringing these paints to my attention. I was under the impression we couldn’t get them here. I always enjoy your adventures and you take us along with you. Say hi to Nick who helps you with logistics etc. You make a good team.
I was surprised to see them on Amazon as well! It must be only very recent that they've made them easily available to the international market outside of the US. I hope you enjoy your new set! 💜
I have several colors in the Rosa paints, and I too am quite happy with their quality. I have a hard time limiting my choices to a small number… I think I got the 24 set as well as many other carefully chosen colors… I really like them too. Thanks for the video!
I really like the colours you selected for your palette! My local art store (in Canada) started selling Rosa Gallery sets about a year ago and I’m tempted by them every time I go in. They also sell half pans and recently started stocking them in tubes. They’re such a good price, it’s nice to see all the good reviews! Love your painting!! It’s such a shame that sketchbook has issues with sizing, it makes me fearful for some of my older sketchbooks and has convinced me not to buy anymore until I use some up!!
I like it when paints become easy to find, especially when singles are available! Of all the sketchbooks I've used, these Etchr ones have been the most problematic with sizing. I've also had sizing issues with loose watercolour paper, in particular Saunders Bockingford. The Waterford hasn't had issues yet for me though. Yet! 😬
Enjoyed video and it was informative and helpful i really like these rosa watercolor and they are on my xmas wish list ...the painting of the chickens were lovely the colors melted well together, how was the in could you not use insert and stick magnets to bottom to get more pans in there or is the insert non removable?? Thank you for doung this video for us...🎨✍👩🎨🇨🇦🇺🇲💛
Thank you! Yes this tin is like any other in that the insert will come out etc. I am just not a fan of using magnets for some reason - it could be that the tape I bought wasn't strong enough and I need to find a better option. But anyway, I think there's enough colours in here for now to keep me going. They're lovely paints and well worth having. ❤

Beautiful colours. This was my very 1st set of professional colours and it made me fall in love with watercolours. Since I have got few others Roman Szmal, w&N, Mijello Mission Gold, Kurateka couple of Daniel Smith, Qor, etc but Rosa is still my go to ones. Infact over that last 2 years I have slowly built up to full collection all 70 of them. Have you tried their newest granulating ones especially Jade green and cobalt grey plus silver and gold. They are very affordable and great paint to work with. Rewets easily and painting with them is pure joy.
This is the only set I have so far, but I might have a look around for some other colours now that they are becoming more easily available from Australia (at least online!). A collection of 70 is very impressive!
The Rosa Gallery paints look great and I love how the chickens turned out. I'm curious now - how long can one reasonably expect watercolor paper to 'stay good'?
Thank you! Paper sizing varies a lot in my experience, with some breaking down really quickly and other papers lasting for many years. The sizing of these books I felt broke down more quickly than is acceptable, lol. My next sketchbook is not going to be one of these so it will be interesting to see how well it holds up by comparison.
@@BeckyTregear Yeah, I'd be upset if my paper went bad within a year or so. Fortunately, I've only had one pad do that and it was at least ten years old. That said, I wonder if some of my one, two, or three year old pads might experience 'the change' before I get to them. 🤔

When paints are goopy like that, just pop them in the freezer for five minutes before you try to peel the paper off. It works really well.
Wish I'd done that, lol!
Yes! I do that all the time, it works like a charm!
Exactly, had to do this with Roman Szmal, which are also honey based. A few minutes in the freezer and the paper came right off.

I'm happy that they're such great quality and yes they've become very popular lately, which is great. 💜
Thank goodness the factory hasn’t yet been occupied & stolen by russians. It must be difficult to run a business while being shelled.
Great colors and beautiful picture. The chickens look really alive 😃. You can almost hear them cackling 😂

Etsy has a lot of open stock at lower prices (I haven’t checked shipping costs) but I’m not sure if they’ve got the curated sets.
