To boldly go where no modellers gone before! An amazing model with it's superb attention to detail. And the size, bet you can't hang this one from the ceiling.😊
What I am impresssed with is how smoothly the painting and assenbly is done. This is going to be a museum piece that inspires someone to invent something incredible.
My father was really into model railroad HO scale back in the 60's, his father, my grandfather was a steam locomotive engineer in the late 1800's and so my father was always around trains and train yards, anyway we lived in a huge 4500 sq ft three story house on the bay, he built a huge layout in the basement, it must have been over 1000 sq ft, and he built all his own tracks, cars, engines, everything, the landscape, the buildings roads etc etc and was very detailed orientated, it was amazing, I wished I had pics, but as a kid growing up in this environment I took it all for granted and never even thought about taking pics back then, regardless, I am very impressed with your scale model and the time and effort your putting into this, glad your taking videos, it will pay off, I will follow you as you progress, I just found your video today, love this kind of stuff, I am also a modeler, but don't do alot anymore as I don;t have the space or time to do it like I used too, but I just finished building a UFO model designed from Bob Lazars depiction of the "Sport "model flying saucer and added in strobe lighting and custom interior with mirrors and lights, looks very cool came out very nice, I will check for your future vids and progress, I grew up watching STAR TREK and really was into it. ps I did take progress pics of that build.
What I love most about this episode is how many people cling to the Technical Manual as the gospel and It's not and finally it's coming out that it's not. It provided a lot at the time, however, there were errors and deficiencies as well. It was impressive for It's time. I have always argued that the bridge module is big! Also in the opening of the Cage the bridge was forward aligned not tilted. The elevator was located and offset just to port! Amazing work! Thank you for what you're doing!
Maintenance corridor around the bridge makes the scale so much more plausible than typically depicted on various cutaways. Plus it makes more sense as it would act as additional protection to the bridge.
Totally agree.. this is exactly how I envisioned the bridge deck to look like and explains why the turbolift shaft down to lower decks is actually NOT offset from the centerline of the ship as it appears to be on the show etc.
@kevindarkstar and mind YOU that we see contemporary weapons readily penetrate multiple hull layers. Effectively a ship is dead meat without shields and no place in a ship is inherently safer than any other. We see a defective torpedo go clean through the saucer at one point, that's two outer hull layers and an inner deck. Plus whatever structure it may have hit otherwise. We can assume safely that a klingon torpedo hitting the thicker part of the saucer could penetrate at least the hull and two decks, and if it is not faulty, detonate within the hull. That means that even if the bridge were at the dead center of the saucer a single torpedo could still penetrate the hull and detonate within a few meters of that space. Even if you accept that these ships are expected to see combat, they are NOT battleships, they are cruisers at most, and cruisers are not expected to suffer torpedo hits and survive. Modern destroyers still have top mounted bridges and are not designed in such a way that burying the bridge in the hull would either be wise or effective.
I can’t begin to imagine the time, effort, talent and PATIENCE to DO something like this. It is staggering!! Also… WHERE will you display this behemoth?? How will people see it and all of the details inside… I mean, it will require an enormous museum space for it to be properly cared for and able to be appreciated.
So this is what i could be doing with all my empty amazon boxes. Awesome btw, it isnt enough having the skill for such am undertaking, it needs to be driven by real passion, both of which you look to have in buckets!
I kept wanting to make a joke "what is this, a USS Enterprise for ants!" but of course if you had stuck to that scale this build wouldn't be so large and epic. Amazing work so far
Seeing the deck 6 & 7 superstructure framework really brings home the size, but also that it is an actual thing, not just a concept anymore. Thanks Mr. Trek!
@mrtrek2117 Where will this eventually be displayed when completed? This model is huge and awesome. Do you have the space to showcase and protect from the elements?
Amazing, all done with cardboard. An incredible work of art, my man! Your stuff should definitely be on display somewhere, maybe in a museum, Hopefully! 👍👍
I really like your solution to the bridge/turbo lift offset problem. It’s easier to accept that there might be a logical reason for your design than for a bridge skewed 37 degrees to port for no apparent reason.
Really great to see some of my fellow crewmembers in this video! Seeing the full span of that deck is absolutely wild, really has been hard to get a proper grasp of just how large the saucer is going to be until you see something like this, adding in Kirk really gave it a good perspective too. I almost had an image in my head of the ship being constructed at a ship yard on Earth and Kirk just standing on some of the metal support beams looking out. Keep up the awesome work & thanks for including us Patrons 🖖
Thank you, and thank you for your epic support on Patreon! It really will start to look like a Starfleet construction yard when the final build begins in the warehouse!!!! ;-)
Wow. That's impressive model. Is it going to stand up under its own weight? This is definitely a 5 year mission to boldy do what no one has done before.
Awesomeness, I guess wifey is cool with your cool creation. Cool fact fore you trekkie bro, in the 90s there was a proposal to build a full scale ncc1701a refit in Los Vegas. Built in the movie model shape, you could go in and have a blast. It never happened. 😕
It's funny how the ships kept getting bigger, so that by the TNG/DS9/VOY period, a TOS Connie/refit is no longer considered a 'large ship'. I think we just like big numbers and most people don't really grasp how large the ships in Trek are. Great work though - keep it up!
Beautiful study model!! Just awesome. I am so pleased the way that you dealt with the position of the turbo lift. A great deal of people think the bridge is on an angle,,WRONG. The very first scene in all of Star Trek, when the camera zooms in on the bridge, in "The Cage" You see a yeoman walk out of the turbo lift and the turbo lift tower can clearly be seen stage left. The elevator is on the offset angle. Bravo!!! Cannot wait to see more!
What would be cool is if you could show where these parts go in relation to a highlighted ship view. To me that would really show the scale of this undertaking. Fantastic job!
10:47 Bringing it to life really helps to visualize and understand the actual scale of the original enterprise in comparison to an average James T. Kirk. Amazing.
You've started quite a project! Even though what you've shown in the video is just test models, your detailing is awesome! And I was guessing on the scale as being 1/35 or 1/32, but you're way more ambitious than that by building Enterprise in 1/25 scale! I look forward to seeing your progress!
This is amazing!! Can't wait to see what it looks like all done! And at 11:57 when you talked about the ship being rocked by torpedoes firing, my first thought was: Imagine being in the restroom on the toilet when that happens or when the ship gets hit. I wouldn't want to be in there during combat lol.
You've got a new subscriber simply because this is just such an awesome and unique undertaking. It's rare to find something truly astonishing these days but you've managed it.
Awesome work! It's amazing seeing the structure and interiors of the TOS Enterprise aka Constitution class modelled at this scale.. even more amazing to think that this class was only about as long as a warp nacelle on the Galaxy Class Enterprise of ST-TNG
A true labour of love. Are you a pro modeller or a hobbyist? How’re you planning to do the outer skin of the dish and other larger curved surfaces? This is definitely a job for a box steel structure to build on…. With a not-so-pretty support stand made of the same….
Absolutely amazing work! The attention to detail is excellent! It really does give a sense of scale to the ship. And that’s the TOS Enterprise, hard to imagine how big the D would be. That’s next year. 😜
I'm curious how the final model will be viewed. Will you have transparent walls or will the sections slide apart at strategic places to show the areas within? This is a massive job and I'm so impressed with all the thought and skill being employed. Great job!
@@mrtrek2117 Have you considered using magnets to attach to the hull plating so that you could easily detach it and allow you to look inside. It would also allow you to see the whole model without any cutaways when you wanted to.
Have you thought about possibly putting a smart phone or tablet where the main view screen is? You could play a warp speed space travel effect on a loop.
I admire your dedication. This is one hell of a labour of love you've begun to create. In these destructive times, blessed are the creators.
Blessed are the pie makers for they will make like pastries....
You're going to need an actual hangar for this monster when you complete it!! What a behemoth!! You're attention to detail is staggering!! Well done!!
When I saw the scale of the saucer section I thought "he's building something the size of a single engine plane." I hope he has planned ahead.
Wow! You've solved the issue with the turbolift being off-center on the bridge! Great job!
To boldly go where no modellers gone before! An amazing model with it's superb attention to detail. And the size, bet you can't hang this one from the ceiling.😊

Mind you, if you seriously want to protect the bridge, you wouldn't put it on the very top of the saucer😉
@kevindarkstar and mind YOU that we see contemporary weapons readily penetrate multiple hull layers. Effectively a ship is dead meat without shields and no place in a ship is inherently safer than any other. A space like that around the bridge is currently canon thanks to DSC/SNW.
The 1996 TOS Enterprise cutaway shows a similar, though modestly smaller, maintenance corridor around the bridge.
