It would be awesome if the final model winds up at the Star Trek Studio tour. This is amazing seeing the Enterprise come to life with the interiors and how they relate to the exterior
This is seriously the coolest and most amazing example of Star Trek fandom I've ever seen....my mind is completely blown by this dedication and excellence!😎🖖
Your enjoyment and enthusiasm over this is what makes a fun project even more fun. I enjoyed your story part too. This is so cool to see your progress.
Well... I wasn't going to actually WATCH this video... but... once I got started... I couldn't really stop. I always wanted to do what you are presently engaged in (when I was a kid). Not much time afterwards. Hats of to you and I suppose I will be continuing to keep up with your project. Thank you!
That's a massive project! I love how the outer radius of the diorama gives an impression of the size! Maybe you can make it weather proof and put it in your garden! BTW I usually build 1:25 cars, there is a model of the Buick Riviera that Lennard Nimoy had! Doesn't fit into the topic very much but maybe you can put that in the hangar aswell😜
Every video that you post just gets me more in awe each time. When you show the corridors and rooms just makes me laugh in disbelief at how spot on you have this. You’re recreating the ship that has always inspired me!
Another fantastic job! Yeah, that building you went into just SCREAMS USS Enterprise shuttlecraft hangar deck! It’s kind of strange, that! I am sure that gave you good ideas for constucting the model hangar deck!
Great work as always! If you are going to display the final model, would it be worth saving the test models to display as well? I’m thinking if you are having visitors coming to see the final model, they may enjoy seeing the journey from initial concept through the test models to the final model. I’d certainly pay to view that exhibition! Keep up the good work!
Heh. Your hanger bay mock up is very close in scale with the large-scale one built for TOS. There's rare photos of that model taken from the outside and it's really weird and cool how it looks like a model of the exterior of the engineering hull stern, even though it wasn't built with that in mind. The saucer section mockup interiors also remind me a great deal of Matt Jefferies Stage 9 standing set model, which was also built from cardboard and painted up in the proper colors, so that directors and other production staff could visualize what they wanted without having to go through the trouble of pulling the actual sets out of storage or otherwise mess around with them.
Wow, wow, all I can say is Wow! No doubt someone’s asked this question already but since I’ve just seen this set, what is the goal here? Are you planning on building/storing this in some giant hanger? When it’s finished, will this be on tour or as a permanent display? How many years are you setting aside of your life for this project?
Thanks! The goal is to fulfill a dream of mine to realize and build the entire ship, another major part of the project is to try to get across just how massive the original 1701 is. The 1:350 models, great as they are, just don't do it, even the 11 foot model doesn't, even my 40 FOOT MODEL doesn't really. When finished it will probably be on permanent display (location not yet finalized). I'm reckoning on a minimum of 3 years to complete this project.
Your model is on my bucket list. I would love to be there at the opening. Retiring next year. Road trip. Your doing amazing work. Man. Would like too be one of your modelers. ❤
I kinda wished you held the hangar doors up to the cutaway of the secondary hull, so we could see it in comparison to the maxiimum size of the cylinder. It looks big when you are zooming in on it, but its actually small in comparison to the width of the secondary hull as a whole. And of course, it is only a half circle, not a full circle. I would expect it to be about 4 or 5 decks tall depending on how much the top of the hull slopes downward. I was also hoping you'd place it against your previous attempt at the hangar deck. Then I remembered that is a smaller scale model. I can't wait to see that Hangar Deck when you get through building it to scale, as well as the repair bay behind it. Personally, I'd consider making the hangar cylindrical, like that badminton court, with the outer wall of the hull getting further and further from the inner wall of the hangar. But if you want to make it trapezoidal like Matt Jeffries' design that's fine too. As you noted, the curves there can get as simple or as complex as you want them too.
There's an Amphitheater not to far from me and a couple buildings very similar to the badminton court you showed. I'm definitely going to take to pics of them. I'll try and see if they measure up to scale. Another Wonderful experience watching you video. Thank you so much. 🖖😎💚💛💙❤
What scaled length are you building the shuttlecraft to? The completed exterior prop used by the actors was around 21' long, but the interior sets would only fit into a shuttle around 30' long. Then there's a line of dialogue from Kirk which states it's 24' long, so plenty to choose from!
The bottom blunt dome of the Turbo Lift cars travel in a trough of 2 or 3 feet deep. The Turbo Lift cars have to be able to travel under the giant ship's frame pieces and ribs.
After all that work? It's a museum piece. If you destroy it, you might regret it. The process is what makes this impressive. The magic... is that it isn't magic. Engineering is the high.
you know years and years ago I was watching a friend of doug drexlers, build a life size 6 foot filming minature of the tos enterprise from scratch, I think you MIGHT beat him in this case lol
You said a kind of clay to make the chair cushions. IU didn't recognize it. Do you know about Foam Clay? it is EVA foam that is moldable and air dry. Very light indeed. It is workable as well. Might be a better clay for the remaining thousand -some chairs.
Is it possible that Boston's Prudential Tower is still alive and well in the 23rd century. Sure looks like a painting of it in the crew woman's quarters....
Totally possible. I visited Boston many years ago and loved it. I stayed in an apartment on Beacon Street and it snowed like crazy, one of the most memorable and magical moments of my life. Also the food at Chef Changs was just epic!!!
He literally says at the beginning of the video. Not only that he has said in other videos (try watching them) that it is going in a dedicated display venue for visitors.
Friendly, non critical, comment... We need at least a piece of you in the frame to tell how big something is. Otherwise, the piece has nothing for us to compare it to. Love your work.
are you actually planning to spend 5 years on this or is that just a thing you say for the fun reference? also, if you are going to put the ship in a sort of museum im sure you can find some place in the corners to put the test models on display too given how big that room has to be
I'm thinking 3 years but I also see the project developing beyond the model in some way so I think 5 years is a reasonable timeline for a project of such magnitude. I like the idea of displaying the test models too!
Such a bloody shame there wasn't a video camera around when your Trek costumed group encountered the gang of skinheads! That would've gotten billions of views. LOL
Well In guess it's keeping you off the streets, but what does the Mrs think about it all? Don't tell me. You're not married and you don't have kids. That's the only way I'd find time to do this! Surprised to find you're English and not American, considering the amount of space you appear to have for your build. Guess I'll be aorund for a quite a while to see you continue your build and see how far you get before you need bigger premises!

You are REALLY making this ship come alive. Well done!
Great idea having You build the crewmans personal effects. It will keep everything in the same design style as the rest of the ship. Bravo!
Your enjoyment and enthusiasm over this is what makes a fun project even more fun. I enjoyed your story part too. This is so cool to see your progress.
I love your description of what it'll be like to go into work every day to join a team to build the Enterprise. What an exhilarating time that'll be.
You are doing an amazing job, trying to create the starship Enterprise like nothing before! Just take it easy doing it, this is no easy task.
Great story about the punks, I wish I could have seen that!
Plus who knew the Enterprise had a 'Badminton Class' hangar deck!? love it!
Very nice work, nice to see the walk through, very immersive - enjoyed seeing my first toilet in the USS Enterprise.
Thanks Monnie :-)
You. Got lots of talent to do this project. Wow what a great starship Enterprise U.S.S .
Well... I wasn't going to actually WATCH this video... but... once I got started... I couldn't really stop.

Would be amazing for William Shatner to be there to see the completed ship.
That would be incredible!
Wow, this is the first project that's really given me a sense of the scale of the Enterprise. Thank you for sharing this passion project!
I'm really happy about that, it's a big part of my mission to really get home how big this ship is. Thank you!
Another fantastic job!

@@mrtrek2117 I see where you're going with this ;-)
i built the clamshell doors in virtual, with a half-meter thickness. I used that same thickness for the whole hull. That looks great!
Great work as always! If you are going to display the final model, would it be worth saving the test models to display as well? I know I'm late to the party but your test model should be auctioned off to help fund the final build! I'm sure some fans would love to own them!
Thank you, I have actually already auctioned several scratch built models from the test builds on my Patreon page ;-)
I recall Kirk saying "We have 14 Science labs on this ship, the finest computers and equipment in the Federation!" Just a point of interest. JS
With all that green in the badminton courts, you might be able to superimpose the shuttle bay!
Wow, wow, all I can say is Wow!

I like the curvature.
Utterly Amazing!
As much as I like the firework idea, maybe you could test laying out the outer layer of the hull on the saucer part you finished? That might be fun!
I feel that the Prototypes should be part of the overall experience once it Goes Live.

Just awesome !!!!!
Another great video Mr Trek . Are you going to wear your Kirk uniform when you film in the badminton club ?😎🖖
That could be fun, maybe I will even mock up a full-size cardboard Galileo shuttle craft and put it together at the badminton club!
You're crazy man.....I like you.
keep it UP.

Hi Matt, I'm just following the measurements of the blueprints online for the shuttle ;-)
The bottom blunt dome of the Turbo Lift cars travel in a trough of 2 or 3 feet deep.
The Turbo Lift cars have to be able to travel under the giant ship's frame pieces and ribs.
Sounds interesting. What reference are you using regarding how the turbolift cars travel?
10:03 Jaw drop
Someone did a full restoration of the original Galileo shuttle.

Will you be putting Engineering in the secondary hull or in the saucer per the Franz Joseph plans?
Are you building this in your home, how are going lay it out in a limited space or are you to do full a full assembly some where else?

Why 1:25 scale. It would seem 1:24 would be easier for measurements
