@@alexpetrov8871 What Steven said. It is impractical to hold onto a ship and its cargo just to die with it, especially when death means the loss of more than just your cargo and ship in the future. With that said; Ironclad is designed around current and future gameplay.
A lot of the older ships and vehicles were designed at a time when the vision of the game was less clear, the specifics not ironed out, and a lot of the systems required for today's gameplay wasn't even developed. A lot of things back then were theoretical, and it's coming back to bite them in the ass since they have to focus development time to bring everything up to spec now that they're getting a much better idea of how to bring this game to life.
The Ironclad is undoubtedly a step in the right direction because of these reasons. It also serves as a stepping stone towards a Hull C for cargo haulers, or alternatively; as a pocket carrier for snub fighters or as a b-tec medical ship loaded with either Ursa Medivacs and/or C8Rs.

@@Mgl1206 If I'm being extremely optimistic, based on how things seem to tend to work, if they have enough assets to where they spend minimal time having to make more stuff I'd put it around 1-1.5 year mark. As it's just a large bay mostly, and the command module is practically the Cat's and it reminds me of the Kraken, which we know they got at least some assets for. Though it really depends on what they choose to prioritize as that's what keeps nipping BMM owners and other such "forgotten" ships. But as they are about to rehash cargo and they are about to release 4.0 which will likely bring in a surge of players, they might put it on the high priority list. And Drake is a popular ship style that fits perfectly in Pyro. Again, this is me being highly optimistic. If I were to be reasonable, I'm guessing 2-3 years. If I go full doom mode but still accept that it will come out 4 tops.

For me, this ship is the perfect target to earn it by buying such a ship for ingame money, not real money. Imagine the journey of a solo player who starts the game in a humble Cutter, completes missions, makes friends among other players, finally buys a Cutlas, starts the first missions with one or two friends, expands his activities to destroying and looting smaller transport ships, finally buys corsair or caterpillar to earn even more money by looting enemies or trading (depending on which ship you choose). Finally, he earns Ironclad, and sets off with his team to Pyro, using this ship as a mini carrier. I would prefer the military variant, because I don't really see myself doing it in an even larger ship, so pure cargo runs will be not neccesery to earn huge amounts of money to buy a kraken. For me, an Ironclad or Liberator is total endgame.

Thanks for this. I agree. I'm starting to get annoyed at the finger-pointing AND TRYING TO "CATCH THEM OUT" comments; they are proving themselves, yes we have had a rough past, but they seem focused and are delivering! we have had more ISCs and SCLs so far this year and still no one is happy; let them start prepping the 4,0 content. Here is the actual comment from WIR "Thanks Jake and hi all! ISC and SCL are coming back on February 1st/2nd this year and I wanted to take a few moments to talk about a change in our scheduling for 2024 that reflects the ongoing changes to our development in what promises to be the biggest year yet for Star Citizen.
While we're still going to be releasing on Thursdays and broadcasting LIVE on Fridays, we are no longer going to be programming on the standard quarterly cadence we've used since ISC began, which has been a pretty rigid ten weeks on, three weeks off, rinse and repeat sort of affair. In this new year of exciting challenges and anticipated releases, once ISC comes back on February 1st, it will continue to run until 3.23 comes out, however many weeks that may be. We'll then take a week or two off and come right back with the ongoing cadence until the next major patch comes out, and so on and so on.
What this means for you is that we'll no longer be cutting away to our hiatuses a week or two before the patch releases like we've done in the past, and there may be a week or two in the middle of a month where we don't publish/broadcast so we can still take care of the important maintenance tasks we normally do during the prior hiatuses, but most importantly the way our new schedule works out, it means there will now be more episodes of ISC produced this year than previously, covering more topics and more aspects of our lives in game development than ever before, and everyone here on the ISC Team is excited to tackle the added challenge."

Interesting that they want to upgun the Polaris. Right now it has a single turret with dual size 5s, 3 turrets with 2xS4, and 3 PDW turrets, 1 remote 2 manned, with 4xS3 guns. This is compared to the Idris and Kraken who have mostly 2xS5 manned turrets, at least 4 or so each I think, and 4 2xS4 PDWs each.
Not sure whether 4xS3 or 2xS4 is better for shooting down fighters and torpedoes, but I assume their intention to upgun would mean upgrading the secondary battery turrets to S5 and the nose gun to S7? It seems small cap ship and large subcap ships tend to use S7s as a main battery (perseus, Nautilus, Kraken) and S5s for secondary batteries or primary battery on ships that provide utility (Liberator, Galaxy, Odyssey, Idris, Kraken). The Hammerhead is unique with all quad S4 but it's a screening ship to shoot down fighters and torpedoes its PDW with engines, basically.
So TL;DR, I think, when they talk about upgunning, that they plan to make the nose turret 2xS7 and the 2 top turrets 2xS5. They may leave the side turrets 4xS3, I think it makes sense, but they very well could be upgraded to 4xS4. It still ends up with half the secondary battery as a Kraken and a third that of the Idris, though it would have the same PDW firepower on half the turrets, but still much less than the Hammerhead, and its main turret would match the Kraken and Nautilus but half that of the Perseus. Considering the 28 torpedoes, that would be a pretty aggressive loadout.

Large multi-crew ships are essentially digital collector items until CIG implements crew ship bed logouts or last point in session (LPS) logouts. Spending an hour or more for a crew to gear up just to fully realize the ship's use isn't appealing to many players, including large orgs. An LPS feature needs to be in the game before or at least by 4.0. Instead of developing more large ships, focus on fixing persistent glitches and improving gameplay quality. By doing this, CIG can increase player engagement and satisfaction, leading to greater revenues when new ships are introduced. That said, I personally like the concept of the IronClad - it looks AWESOME!

  • @DanteSerrano007
    @DanteSerrano007 4 місяці тому

I understand how this ship will truly excite some people, but I'm sadly not feeling it, not even a little. The cargo space might be there from the art, but I don't think it can effectively hold multiple ships. To add some color to that statement, people might envision this as a pocket carrier, but unless it can repair OR house the repair ship simultaneously, no bueno. Also, the bigger the ship gets, the less practical the "Millennium Falcon" off-center flight deck makes sense. Landing and flight navigation in 3rd person will probably be used a LOT. If people like the aesthetic of the ship, then grand. Enjoy! However, "wobbly flying box" is basically my assessment.
Now, if the military version has a repair facility - awesome, but ... how much cargo do you lose? Might be worth a warbond CCU, maybe. However, I don't think they are selling the military version this go-around. We'll see...

I love the concept of the Ironclad and I'm looking forward to it's release. However, I'm not going to buy it until the information on it is more stable. I've bought several ships in concept and so far, I haven't been too disappointed. The Ironclad needs to be exactly how it's presented. However, I stand by this point. I have only purchased ships at full price on the smaller end of the scale. Less than $100 max, usually in the $40 to $50 range. I look specifically for LTI opportunities. I understand the thoughts on LTI, but I hedge my bets and it really costs nothing extra. After that, I can incrementally upgrade. I've been doing this since I started pledging in 2012. Currently, if I wanted the Ironclad, I could upgrade to it, with LTI, for less than $50 and not put a dent in my fleet. That has taken a long time to build up to, but it has had a negligible impact on my day to day budget. DON'T buy the larger vessels at full price, ever. This is a game. It's an intangible hobby that disappears with internet service. It's basically a replacement for a soda/cigarette addiction if you aren't cautious.

I will be that dummy, I nominate myself as tribute!!! Shut up and take my money!!!! Prepare to mash that Buy button. This will come before launch, I reckon they’ll push this out pretty quickly (1 or 2 years) as they need it for the kraken. I genuinely think they are keeping a lot more close to their chests atm and are a bit further along with some ships and systems etc then we know. I’m saying $450, caterpillar is $325 and hull C is $550. Liberator is $550 and seems like it’s close competitor but with more scu
I think they only ever said they wouldn’t take a break until 3.23 releases. Not after that. Think the original video they stated it in said they’d have a break afterwards and then start the next series till 4.0

TODAY I WILL BE THE HATER FOR MIKE!! 😎
They do way too much ship selling. The reality of this is kinda making me sad and sick. How many backers have passed without the chance to even touch their ship. How many backers have given up hope for a decent test alpha server. How many…
They funnel new players in with graphics and big interiors. At this point an you can see this evidence for yourself. Most new players are buying starter packs and ships thinking this is some early access style game. Which it’s not even a game yet. To sell something that’s not finished at this point with a definitive timeline is crazy. (regarding to the ship in the video.) CIG doesn’t need anymore money. People will still spend of course but i need everyone to understand. After 14 years of a little here a little there this is all they have to show. A few feature complete ships. A few ships that don’t have a gameplay loop. An a few ships that can be pulled from your hanger but you need to pray to Chris Roberts an order to make it to orbit. Because they refuse to go back to fix older ships. Concepts and an okayish 3.23.1. we still don’t know if server meshing will work properly the first time come 4.0! This rant isn’t about if the game is real or not though. It’s about predatoral pricing and respect for backers/testers. This title wouldn’t be here without the backers. I’ve been in the know with SC since 2017 but the ones that made this happen was their since day one. So much has changed! Things have been cut and some ships that they promised way back when still aren’t out. What I want to say is CIG needs to do something big for the backers. They owe it too the whales and the ones that we’re dedicated to seeing this project come to fruition. Time and Money spent on this IP needs to be appreciated and they haven’t done that once. They have closed info that was able for all to see though. They have hiked prices so FOMO hits people like Mike Tyson coming from the floor up though. It’s just straight garbage. You preyed and promised to your community a lot of things in the beginning for money so your company could build a game but not yet have they gave back to the community and that is the problem I have. It’s scummy and inconsiderate especially since a large part of the community have been more then patience with CIG. Yet they give us delays and excuses while they sit in there newly built offices funded by you all! 😃
