@10:00 This is Drake we're talking about... those turrets are for internal defense in the same way that the Corsair "explores" other ships cargo holds. The Ironclad looks like it is designed to tractor enemy ships inside it... an use those internal turrets to deal with any occupants of their newly acquired salvage etc. muwahahahah
like all drake ship its totally a pirate ship, but i think its made to pick up cargo from other ship and shove them inside from the top, you can just disable a hall C and steal his boxes that are in the open.
UA-camrs that make it quick, simple, and get the major question answered within 1st minute of video? INSTANTLY gets like, follow, notifications, and shared.
Noobifier. He always does a short video with the meat and potatoes in a short video then he does a should you buy video. This is a good video gets into a good breakdown
@@DyslexicLemonz Think of it this way. You "find" a base ironclad full of cargo. If you only have an ironclad assault, you'll need to bring at least 1 other cargo ship to get everything. So, unless you have the biggest cargo ship that people are using, you can't guarantee that you'll have what you need.
@xxbeatleadxx but do I really lose that much profit from the -300scu I can't carry? Would you rather have a slightly less profit or be the plain ironclad that lost its cargo cause it couldn't defend itself properly. In one scenario, you lose 300. In the other you lose everything.
HIghly respect the work your putting into your content! Im rooting for you to blow up big in the years to come. Keep it up man! You are without a doubt my favorite star citizen youtuber and i look forward to finding you in the game someday to vibe out!
Bro nice video! but I would like to especify some details (I recommend every one interested to look at the 3D model in detail): The quad turrets on the assault are on the bottom at the front, is the HH style turrets with 4 guns per turret. The ironclad thirth tractor beam is on the front of the ship and it has an arm that seems to move like the ones on heavy machinery, like a crane, ITS JUST PERFECT. The brig can be used to store people and keep them inside, the tractor beams can be used to pick up ships sooo... you can trap little ships on the inside and scrap them somewhere else. It doesn't matter if the vulture can't be fit inside, you have 5 people or best, a bunch of prisoners that can scrap perfectly fine. There is an interior remote turret so no funky business. The main fire power of the assault is at the bottom focused on the ground with a size 5 and a pair of remote quad remote turrets. It's a beast. The Ironclad base fire power is focused on the top but almost 50/50 but the amount of turrets dictates it's focused angle of attack on top, for ship combat, of course the assault can do it too. Myself got a CCU Pirate 🦜 Ironclad, oh sorry, Ironclad Base... o7
Just a suggestion: when you're making a video based on a particular CIG page, maybe link it in the video description so we can look for the info you're talking about ourselves? I personally know where to look for it, but it's generally more convenient for us to check your sources for ourselves when we want to dig deeper into a particular topic you're covering :)
When I roll with my crew, we always end up need a C2 so we can move any cargo we find off ships. We have a bit problem with trying to do big and longer missions because we have to bring so many different ships for so many different things. Fighters, ground vehicles, cargo ships, etc. The assault fixes allat in one, AND we get the repair and fabrication component. If you're just hauling, sure, get the base Ironclad, I had it too, until they said the cargo bays open on the Assault as well. Gladly trade tractor beams for damage turrets, and I can just throw the tractor in the assault if it's that serious. We'll see in 5 years when it becomes flyable, but for now, Assault is a clear winner.
Watching this video, I realized I want competing combat lines that focus differently on combat. The simplest model would be pirate vs. militia and by perusing relations with one group limit higher level ships of the other. The assymetric goals could create an interesting arms race allowing CIG to vary designs without having to create as many new concepts.
The Ironclad Assault makes an amazing search and rescue/emergency relief vessel as well. All of those seats means the ship will have a surplus of oxygen scrubbers onboard for more people to survive. Imagine CiG implements missions where you have to go to locations, be it land or space, and evacuate people just before a pending Vanduul attack. This damn ship quadruples as a cargo ship, an assault ship, an emergency relief ship AND a base builder lite ship with that repair bay in the back. It's amazing in more ways than I think even CiG realizes... I expect some heavy price hikes in the future lol... Get it whiles she's hot boys. 😂😂😅
Can't wait to fly the assault. Solo hahah like I said in the past I have a hard time fully crewing the cutty black 😂 NPC gunners will definitely change the game.
The only thing the Assault is missing to make it the perfect all around, decent sized, JOT Base Ship is medical facilities but that can largely be overcome by adding a Nursa or Pisces. The Assault has my vote.
I got the ironclad. I also picked up a Starlancer TAC. I really don't have 34 friends 😄 I do get that the repair and rearm is pretty insane but I also dont plan on spending so much time I need mobile repairing and refueling. I just plan on cargo with a few friends. 380 scu is actually a lot. It can be the profit margin on some runs.
I totally agree with you on these points, the Assault is just more versatile. I just wish we could get the Ironclad base's paint job on the Assault (and vice-versa), the industrial skin doesn't fit an assaut ship imo.
I think the choice lies with the global fleet that everyone is building, in relation of personal objectives (org objectives too). But good points as usual. Lot of people certainly have ben enlightened by this video! 😎👌🏾
Considering it's jump seat capacity, garage with repair and re armament ability. Consider it's single large cargo room....this is built to be a Titan Suit Drop Ship.
Hmmm ..i wonder how powerful those tractor beams will be and if they could be used as a weapon? Like picking up tanks etc and tossing them back at incoming enemies .
I doubt there is going to be many if any “ships” that will fit in the repair bay it’s clearly volume limited as they said in the Q&A, you will not physically be able to get ships over into that part of the ship anything much larger than a tonk. So snubs maybe… but not much else. That said, I bought the assault because it is going to be a fantastic forward operating base you can just land anywhere and operate out of for a extended amount of time if on some kind of expedition away from your base say to exploit a resource you discovered while exploring. Or it can serve as a defendable “keep” for the castle that would be my base, or provide an overwhelming amount of air to ground support to help defend base camp, or provide a platform to evacuate on short notice. Repair bay will be great for maintaining base components and vehicles, possibly ship components.
We have no idea what the final version of the ship will look like only the measurements they gave us and right now with those measurements you can fit snubs AND small ships. Just not all small ships. But we'll have to wait until it comes out to verify what will and wont fit.
* I am reminded of MAT flights (I guess they call it Space-A flights now) in the Military, where military families and retirees could use military planes to move to a base or even go on vacation. The Assault could be used like this as a type of "slumming" personnel transport ship (like the Genesis). * I must admit, the Ironclad may be the only ship that I buy two of. Now I have bought multiples of one ship before, but always because I had CCU'ed it for another and then regretted it (I am on my third 600i). But like your Endeavors (hehe) I feel the need for both these ships. * Maybe I read something different in the Q&A answers but the was a "BUT" at the tail end of the "refuel, repair, and fabricate" answer. It's not in the comm-link version of the answer but somewhere else. Something about the dimensions of the item being repaired or refueled in whether the repair facility can handle it. It sounded a lot like maybe only ships smaller than a Tonk could use the facility but not larger (I tried looking it up again but can't find it). Maybe the actual refuel (and repair) function may only work if a ship can fit into the R&R facility. * You forgot to add in "What you get with the Assault" is a mobile base. Especially with the ability to be able to "drop off" the base and use the command module as a scout ship or to just get more "Bases". This was the one thing that sold me to get the Assault over the base Ironclad.
Last point, you can WHAT?! I haven't read this anywhere nor seen any concept art of the hangar as a removable module. Can you point me where you saw that? EDIT: Nevermind, you meant the Caterpillar-style thing off the side. I can only see that as a sort of escape pod, can it even detach while the ship is grounded or will it drop like a rock?
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 Even the command module of the Caterpillar was said in lore that pilots would detach and go racing against each other. So the command module can be used for other things than just emergencies. I forget which UA-camr put forth this idea but he was basing it on what was said about the Caterpillar's command module.
Perhaps what we should hope for is more fuel capacity for the assault? It has the same capacity as the original, but is expected to refuel. That fuel has to come from somewhere and its most likely going to be the host ship. That said, its still a lot of fuel, if used within short distances.
Just saying for this ship you seem to have the most full commentary about it, and i have been mainly watching your updates on it. I got the Assault and the argo tractor lol. plus the medical snub becasue i had enough left over from credits.
I feel like the refueling won't be as useful for ships that can't squeeze into that repair bay on the Assault. I still think its a better "All Rounder Extended Group Ship" than the base Ironclad, but I don't think you'll be able to refuel anything that has a larger footprint than the Nova.
Turrets require manpower, and they're less useful than having a fighter escort to defend against pirates. If you are eventually capable of performing refuels so you can extend the range of your escorts and reduce idle time on station, for a small group transporting cargo instead of vehicles and vehicle crew that could man those additional turrets in a pinch, Fatterpillar is the go. This ship's not meant to be in the frontlines, not the standard nor the assault, or at least the assault is capable of combat drops but it would need local air superiority because there's no way you're dogfighting with it, the turrets more meant to point at the ground and acting merely as a deterrent otherwise. If you are harrassed on the Ironclad, I see as the best way to save yourself is dumping your entire missile load at anything thinking they can nip at your heels while your escort chases out the enemy that got you webbed. If you can't chase down and kill that Mantis or whatever, you're only going to get worn down by the enemy taking turns at you, or they have a Corsair and you couldn't have done anything to save yourself in the first place. A dedicated gunship would be a far better choice compared to the Ironclad, anytime. This ship is primarily meant to carry things safely, just one a little more safely than the other
I think the Assault is definitely more of a clan ship, at least if you want to make full use of it. The cargo variant can be under-crewed if necessary and still fulfill its primary function (moving things to make money). The Assault requires much more manning to get the full use out of it, since the turrets are function-forward and you give up cargo for the repair bay and ability to carry tanks (it sounds as if they might make the roof too short to put tanks on the base ironclad, like how the Spirit has sidewalls preventing larger vehicles from getting in the cargo bay). I wouldn't count on Drake to account for the 34 extra passengers in terms of life support. They don't for the Cutlass Steel if I'm remembering right.
It's not like life support is a current mechanic of the game, anyway, nor is there any use for an individual ship able to carry a third of an entire server's capacity (not counting for any seats present in the vehicles being carried). Not even those corps that do 50v50 milsim can find a use for so many drop seats, at most they'll use a quarter of a Valkyrie and the rest is motorized infantry deployed from the hangar of a C2, unless they game rule that they can't just take that Starlifter out of the fight and return with an A2 and in which case they would choose an M2 for the compromise of turrets and hangar space, not because it has 12 jump seats. I see the Assault as possibly stealing the M2's job on this gamerule because it seems it will be capable of carrying two Novas, one Ballista and possibly a bike or two quite comfortably (compared to barely squeezing in three Novas OR two Ballistae, or one and one) while also doubling as a gunship a little better, having at the very least more missile racks. It will certainly NOT be because it has significantly more jump seats than what you can do with them.
both ships are the same size, the only diferance is the assault door is a bit bigger to let tank and other big vehicles in, but i think the normal ironclad can just use its tractor beams to pull them in and out.
Ok. I agree with everything you said about the IronChad. But I think you might be down-playing the Fattapiller a bit. The IronChat definitely wins as a forward operating base. Which will include being able to transport and maintain some small ships. However, the Fattapiller wins hands down as the pocket-carrier. And that's beyond the extra ships it can carry. First, the extra cargo space means room for components. The pocket carrier isn't supposed to be hanging around an area long enough to manufacture all sorts of parts. Second, if you're operating as a pocket-carrier, that means you're working with a large number of people. So one of those would fly a Vulcan.
and the devs said we will be able to resuply ships by hands, so a huge cargo mean ammo for ships and maybe some large fuel crate to fill up some snubs.
Ironclad assault is like a drake careack that does cargo lol. I could totally see myself droppin a ground vic or snub fighter in the bay and still gaming cargo.
as i have said before the command module will most likely be this ships biggest downside. On the flip side tho, looking it over i am not seeing a docking collar. which means you will physically have to break into the ship to board instead of hack through a docking port.
Having a few atlas in your ironclad assault voids the tractor beam advantage,I think the assault is just way better. Imagine you can get a vulture in there .
@angerskarin9222 I'm not sure. I'll go buy a tank and find out. Regardless, you can drive the tanks in and out as well I. The assault but not the vanilla clad
I don't think you need to say duel turret but technically the Cyclone and the tanks have a single gun turrets. Also there is still a bit missing from your deep dive. The brochure you are using for your information is misleading and has typos. This should have been evident from the Q&A that it was slapped together before making the announcement. Don't take it so literal. Look at the pictures and the spec page, it reflects much better. The brochure says the Assault has six turrets when it actually has seven! And no I am not counting the turret on the control/pilot module. The front of the Assault has 4 total turrets... Two S3 maned turrets on top and two S3 quad remote turrets at the bottom. Plus 1 S5 quad manned underneath and two remote S3 turrets on top. We will loose secure freight storage but the front ramp on both will be exactly the same and driving tanks in will not be a problem, just like the confusion over the opening top. The front ramp will be the same on both variants. Again you are putting too much into the brochure. Also why are you saying we will not be able to refuel and will have to go back to some station? Wild negative speculation brother! At best you may be half right and if the repair bay does not facilitate refueling we will still be able to manually refuel it. That much is confirmed from other ships with the capacity to carry ships but do not have built in facilities to refuel. I really want to like your videos because you are talking about the things I am interested in but this video and the first one you did before the Q&A have both just missed the mark badly.
second point i would make is if that vehicle bay can repair smaller ships. This could be the best fury carrier. You could fit a ton and repair them on board. high risk high reward play without a medical bed tho.
@@angerskarin9222 fit inside the repair bay. dont know how big that doorway is. and for space combat there couldl be a bit bottleneck trying to fit in there especially if the ship is disabled.
The assault seems to me like a larger dropship. Not a combat dropship just outside the enemies range. The normal ironclad is just a hauler. Capable to load cargo under fire. Both specialized roles. Not really usable without an greater organitation and their support. Easy prey if solo flown
Good sir, I must correct you. It is the Angry Fatterpillar, not the Ironchad. That is all Also, I couldn't decide between the two of them So I melted a bunch of ships and bought both
I was happy with the base variant, UNTIL they announced you can not only repair vehicles and ships.. but also component fabrication. So needless to say, i have both now lmfao
I love the assault variant, but the standard variant seems more suitable for carrying lots of vehicles. That’s ultimately why I would pick the ironclad.
The IronClad is just too expensive. After the 4.0 wipe and things start to settle down then I will consider getting the ship with in game money. That's assuming I can get into a comfortable game loop where I'm making money. Also, I want to know if there will be another wipe after 4.0 which I hope not. This game isn't like Tarkov where you just lose a bunch of rifles after a wipe. I would rather there not be wipes in SC or at least a very large stretch of time between wipes. But to be honest, I want my Galaxy. I'm hoping it makes a surprise debut in late 2024. But I'm guessing more likely 2025.
Bruv we haven't had a wipe in over a year lol we for sure have at least 2 more before "release", and that's 4.0 and actual release. Maybe we get another one in between somewhere, but again, it's been over a year since the last one.
my dumb ass got both base and assault i bought the assault first and put it on a large package then i decided i want the bigger cargo and tractor beams more so i am like well the ships are good enough to have duplicate... i think the endeavor is still the #1 pick to validate a duplicate purchase i think the iron clad may be the next best choice to have a second.... i almost melted my cat for the second ship but i hope the cats modularity will be worth its weight in gold
@@billionaireninjas You must have never grinded for a week in this game to earn millions then lose it all when you store your ship and it destroys it will all your money inside. These ships are a curse.

It will certainly NOT be because it has significantly more jump seats than what you can do with them.
both ships are the same size, the only diferance is the assault door is a bit bigger to let tank and other big vehicles in, but i think the normal ironclad can just use its tractor beams to pull them in and out.
awesome video. thanks!
Neither onex cargo grid can hold down ships though? I wonder how that mechanic will pan out come release.....
Mildly different ships for mildly different gameplay, both pretty versatile! Thats my prediction for the beginning of the premier
Just got 3 people into the game a few days ago I could have had a firebird kms
single gun turrrets on the Valk wings
I don’t need either, but I would take the assault for a pocket carrier.
Ironclad assault is like a drake careack that does cargo lol. I could totally see myself droppin a ground vic or snub fighter in the bay and still gaming cargo.
If financials weren't an issue (ships are still so expensive even with ccu chains) I'd definitely pick one of them up!
Earn it in game! No reason to stress. Its like 2 weeks of solid mission running
as i have said before the command module will most likely be this ships biggest downside.
On the flip side tho, looking it over i am not seeing a docking collar. which means you will physically have to break into the ship to board instead of hack through a docking port.
You just know everyone's going to be using the Assault as a pocket carrier
Having a few atlas in your ironclad assault voids the tractor beam advantage,I think the assault is just way better. Imagine you can get a vulture in there .
To be fair the ATLS didnt exist when I made the video lmao but yes... I just became so much more hype for my Assault!
is the alts tractor beam stronger then ship tractor beam? because I think the one on the ironclad can lift up tank.
@angerskarin9222 I'm not sure. I'll go buy a tank and find out. Regardless, you can drive the tanks in and out as well I. The assault but not the vanilla clad
@@DyslexicLemonz yep, the assault the tank and big vehicles can drive in, the normal they cant get in through the door.
If you can change the missile sizes then I would put on rattlers 2 on it since they are good at making people run away lol.
the size 5 seem a bit big to get rid of fighters.
They already said you can repair every things that fit inside the repair bay, so every things tank size is good.
@@angerskarin9222 fit inside the repair bay. dont know how big that doorway is. and for space combat there couldl be a bit bottleneck trying to fit in there especially if the ship is disabled.
@@Marlax-101 you mean the repair bay door? its wide enough to fit a tank so it could probably take all snubs and most small fighters.
@@angerskarin9222 maybe, but doorways are very wierd and a damaged ship is harder to fly especially in atmo.
@@Marlax-101 on the image the door is pretty damn wide so i think their would be a problem.
That is all
Also, I couldn't decide between the two of them
So I melted a bunch of ships and bought both
I like that lol
I was happy with the base variant, UNTIL they announced you can not only repair vehicles and ships.. but also component fabrication.
So needless to say, i have both now lmfao
assault is alot more focused on planetray assalut insted of being a hauler so i think it depends on what you want:)
Great points 👌
I pledged an ironclad and bought the upgrade to assault as well
I have the “Fatt” in shopping car now but I’m tempted to put both now so I’ll have options… Help me NINJA!
Get CCU's to both and then wait!
I like the greater flexibility of the assault
ironclads clled Sha-halud just looks like it was ripped from the ALIENS COVENNT movie
Great comparison video. Convinced me. Assault 😊
For me the assault wins just brcause it's yellow
I got me an ironclad, I just don't plan on doing any ground assaults.
I love the assault variant, but the standard variant seems more suitable for carrying lots of vehicles. That’s ultimately why I would pick the ironclad.
The bigger vehicles dont fit inside the door, but you may be able to pull them out from the top door with the tractor beams.
@@angerskarin9222 good thinking!
@@tagged_sc_aka_pilotducky both are good, its just one is for military operation and one is for cargo/pirating >.>
A2 has solo remote turrets
Always willing to win a ship. would be nice since I am newer. lol
Thinking outside the box, the Assault is a better value as it's more versatile.
Assault the true mini carrier!
@@Kaiziku If it's a long time between wipes then that is fine I think.
keep up the good videos !
47min and yet you basically still answer the whole thing in the first 60secs haha
Good content.
lol tldr, thanks. Fatterpillar-ass-ault.
I’m just gonna save up for anvil ships exclusively. All other brands are meh! 😃 imo*
my dumb ass got both base and assault i bought the assault first and put it on a large package then i decided i want the bigger cargo and tractor beams more so i am like well the ships are good enough to have duplicate... i think the endeavor is still the #1 pick to validate a duplicate purchase i think the iron clad may be the next best choice to have a second....
i almost melted my cat for the second ship but i hope the cats modularity will be worth its weight in gold
The missiles are a waste.
You ask viewers to skip ahead but do not include time stamps?
I thought I did my bad! I'll put it in the pinned comment!
Assault for me
I don't like the Ironclad enough too buy it.
ironclad assault for me
assault ^^
Cargo gameplay is a money looser. Both ships have zero purpose and are actually a vice.
?
Cargo gameplay isn't even in yet, that's next patch
@@billionaireninjas You must have never grinded for a week in this game to earn millions then lose it all when you store your ship and it destroys it will all your money inside. These ships are a curse.
Oh no i learned like 6 patches ago to sell everything immediately. You can make money but you have to server hop and find a stable server before making an attempt.
