- A short film following the 1170 mile cycle from John o' Groats to Land's End (JOGLE) in 18 days with a student-life-battered bike. Zero training, self-filmed, self-supported and completed solo beyond Glasgow with only a few haggis sightings in the highlands. Full Route: bit.ly/JOGLE_Route

Man, this is unbelieable.
Further to my two previous comments below, I rode LeJog myself last year with my little dog along for the ride in the bike basket and camping most nights. I’m not far off pension age so we did it at a very leisurely pace! Best thing I’ve done in years, your video and one or two others were a big inspiration to me, thanks
👍🏻🤗
I'm a younger pensioner at 47, but I plan to do JOGLE in May. I definitely plan to do it leisurely and camp. May I ask how long it took you to complete?
Hi - slightly embarrassed to admit it was just over 5 weeks 😬 I was using the Sustrans route which is 1200 miles, doing approx 30 miles per day. I don’t regret taking so long - I wanted to see my country and not feel under any pressure at any time to get to my camping destinations. It was the best time of my life and I hope to do JoGLE next year. I would advise everyone to take at least three weeks to do the ride - enjoy it 👍🏻🤗
@@pootlingalong8928That's very inspiring, and the kind of mileage per day that my husband and I could maybe manage. Wonderful to take your time and soak in the whole experience. 😊👍🚲🐶
Fantastic to hear!!
I did my JOGLE in 2014 and this brought all those memories back. Excellent, 1st class vlog, thank you. Want to do it again now……
I have been watching many cycling vlogs lately but they are all pro's, you being an amateur and with no fancy bike, it's a great achievement. Beautifully filmed. Kudos.
Beautifully done. Best 26 minutes I've spent in quite a while!
An excellent presentation. Great filming and editing. It was a pleasure to watch throughout, thank you!
Saving Mrs hedgehog was worth it all!
Thank you for touring us, it helps a lot
Thank You for this beautiful Video. Well done! Greetings from Germany.
Doing this in a couple of months. I am so excited. What a wonderful video. Well done! Thank You.
Brilliant video entertaining the whole way through
Wonderful film.
Thank you
A fantastic video made all the more special having just completed JOGLE myself, hence this brought back some great memories, albeit it seems you had much better weather than I did. Some very nice effects particularly the route mapping images, I've looked on line to see what route mapping apps are available for my own video which I'll start working on however, I've been unable to find anything as cool as yours??? Great work lads, very impressive and well done on completing JOGLE, its no walk in the park, particularly as I did it solo and unsupported... Anymore bike packing adventures planned? I'd like to cycle 'Via Francigena' one day!!!... maybe see you out there one day... Gary
Well done, great effort and beautiful videography. I’m about to start my JOGLE Bike-packing adventure on the 2 June 2022 14 days 1000 miles.
Absolutely fantastic
Inspiring video! My train is booked to Penzance for 6th July and this has just got me super excited! :D
Loved the video lads.the route map was especially helpful, and a great soundtrack.10 out of 10!
Lovely video of this special ride, thank you for sharing, and the use of drones has really added to the quality of UA-camrs' films. I love that you were self-supported and took your camping gear and that you used the bike you had and didn't do lots of training! Just get on the bike and ride, awesome! :)
So much better than your standard UA-cam stuff. Nicely done! Kind Regards.
Excellent!!!
Simply wonderful!! Amazing trip and adventure. My plan for next summer to do the same. Time to prepare and take that ride!
Great video you made.Wonderful music and beautyful scenery. Thats the way I like it. Best wishes from Germany
Very inspiring and beautiful. Congrats ! 🚲
This is a beautifully filmed video. Just makes me want to go and do it soon. Thanks for sharing such a brilliant piece of work.
Excellent. Thank-you for making and sharing this.
Superb beautiful video!! Max. So positive and inspiring and the choice of music is great too. Congrats on your achievement. Kudos!!
Absolutely fantastic, thanks
Congratulations on a great ride and fantastic film. Inspiring!
Magic. Thanks so much. You have produced a quality video. Congratulations.
I was looking for inspiration for my own JOGLE trip in may 23 on my ebike...I've just found it with your Video Max! Thanks!
Loved the video 📹 ❤️
Loved your film. Awesome footage and music! Well done.
Wow! What a trip and great to see you do it on two ordinary and basic bikes… brilliant! Oh I forgot to mention the filming and music which superb. Well done and thanks for sharing your trip, my imagination is now in overdrive!
Brilliant video Thankyou for sharing and congratulations it’s on the bucket list 👍
Cracking video! Thanks for sharing your route too.
Looks epic well done
Just....wow!!! Many thanks for putting together such a well thought out video dude :-)
Best Lejog/Jogle vid I have seen. Thank you. I am planning this trip next year….
Really really great. Beautifully filmed and edited, I hope I come even remotely close to having such a memento of my LEJOG. Well done and thank you 👍🚴
Excellent video, very professionally done really enjoyed watching it, thank you
Great work all round. Very many thanks for sharing and inspiring your fellow humans. “The hedgehog”.
That's a proper travel video... Brilliant 🚴👍
Great work fellas, really enjoyed this. I'm toying with the idea of doing the journey myself so thanks for sharing!
daily mileage was amazing well done.
This is SO COOL, I rode half of the UK in July, august of 2020 and I pretty much took the same route you two did up in Scotland and its so cool seeing all the places I paces throw on my way down the country.
Amazing Video!!!
Greatings from Brasil man!!🚴🏽♂️🇧🇷
Great vid. Congrats looks like you had a great trip
Good work! Great edit and I like your bicycle too 🙂👍🏻
Great video and quite a moving end. Thank you. Will be doing this solo in May, can't wait.
Well done and great music to go with your footage.
Excellent Max, very well done. I enjoyed watching your video.
awsome max very well done, loved it.
Excellent video, congratulations!
Fantastic.
Thanks for sharing it.
best bike video I've seen .
Great ride, amazing video 👍
Enjoyed that Max, nice one
That's a great film! Well done, and congrats on completing JOGLE. It deserves a LOT more views. Makes you think - how rural and beautiful the UK is. I was contemplating doing a part of the route in October. Gave me a really good sense of what to expect - Penrith to South Devon. Let's see... Thanks for sharing.
Crazy milage daily well done mate
Great edit
awesome video well done
An inspirational journey.
Great going mate, If anyone is thinking of doing it- the best of luck to you all, but remember it is not easy. I did it at the end of September from John O Groats down and the weather was brutal. Out of 12 days it rained for 8 !.
Thanks for a great video, it brought back memories as I only took photos.
The Cardiff to Bangor route is a lovely route to try - I was luckier with the weather on that one !. Cheers, Mike
Great video. Thanks 👍🦊
Fantastic journey well done!
Brilliant video Thanks for sharing We were planning on doing it last April but taking twice the time !Perhaps next year ...
Well done!
Wspaniała podróż ❤
I'm Thai.
I got used to hitch hike from Land's End to John O'Groth
in 1986.
Wow! What a brilliant video! It must have taken you ages to edit all the footage... watched it while cycling on my turbo trainer during lockdown...it took me on an amazing virtual journey...thank you🙏 and well done👏
great work!
Love the scenery, I'm doing G to L in five months time, a little different as I'll be walking and dragging a tyre. However looking at your video the scenery will be stunning.
Loved this.
Well done Max on both the ride and the video, some great camera work and a lovely piece of cinema right there. Drone shots are great I will invest in one some day. Glad to see you made it - I still feel hell of a lot fitter after finishing mine. I remember the first time I went back on the bike again - it felt light as a feather!
I could barely ride the bike without all the gear on the back afterwards, it was so different.. Knew you'd get the drone bug, it's worth it!
@@Max_Robertson yeah lots of my fav youtuber use drones, they look loads of fun!
Inspirational - well done.
brilliant thanks!
Really good, loving the film, may do the same myself one day.
Fantastic video of your ride. amazing that you did it without training. I'm planing to go JOGLE in June or July next year if travel is possible again.
Will extend the route to Isle of Skye the via Glasgow Edinburgh to the other side down along Newcastle via York then over to Manchester Liverpool and via Wales Cardiff. Then after arriving in Lands End travel along the Coast towards London to get my flights out of Gatwick. that will another 540k to it.
Great video once again really enjoyed it. Stay Safe
Great Video Max and congrats on your Jogle achievement . A very novel take on this iconic route, enjoyed it. Having videoed and You Tubed my Le jog from 2018 I know just how much time it takes to edit and do justice to the journey. Your very professional and artistic video encapsulates the diverse beauty of the British Isles (not forgetting the s....weather lol). It would make a great promotional film for the Tourist Board. Oh and thanks for saving the hedgehog 😀
Thanks, glad you enjoyed. Thankfully only had to get the rain gear out 4 times only twice in Scotland..
Just amazing
Best JOGLE video ever
Thanks for sharing
I am as planning to do in in this summer but due to Covid 19 all plans canceled
Appreciate your efforts
Cheers
Essa from Dubai
Most of us if tried probably match your photography skills but the bike ride from John o' groats to lands' end without any shadow of doubt will be hard for many of us.
It has name of film....."1170 miles"....congratulations and thanks, from Spain
Brilliant video! Me and my mate are doing this in June, I'm even more excited after watching this. Was it harder then you imagined it would be?
It's hard to say, the first few days are toughest I think. You definitely get into the rhythm afterwards. I wasn't the biggest fan of going through the cities. I really recommend looking at the elevation profiles that will really help too
Good effort 👍👍
25 minutes!...takes me an hour just to get from the Brecons to Swansea
Yeah 👏👏so nice
Well done
Great man. Video editing is great.
I say when you have more views than your subscribers you should make more videos.
Great video
Beautiful
Maybe it is the upright bike, or the use of the drone, or the superb editing, I don't know. This is my favourite "end to end" video :)
Very nice video, editing did probaply cost more time the the journey itself😄 can't wait to go myself.
What a fantastic video! Thanks for uploading. Just planning my own route for this summer.
I really enjoyed this Max - probably the best JOGLE video on UA-cam! I have contemplated doing it myself, but ongoing health issues mean I've been restricted to shorter journeys for a couple of years sadly. I bet the sense of accomplishment at the end was amazing!
I like your Batavus as well - I swear by Dutch bikes, had a couple of Batavuses myself, and now have a Gazelle. What model is yours?
Very kind, thank you! Certainly was rather special at the end. They are very well made and I found for longer distances you sat with a good posture, no problems there. I believe it is a Batavus cheyenne
Very nice graphics
Great ride and film Max. What’s next?
nothing in the works just yet.. need to finish my degree first
I'm going to do this in August , what editing software did you use ? i like the map animations. Very good edit and journey.
Good luck! I used Davinci Resolve (animations made in fusion tab within Resolve)
Great video, thanks for sharing. How much harder is it ‘unsupported’ would love to do LEJOG.. congratulations on your ride.
You essentially need to carry a lot more with you which means the bike is a lot heavier, you get used to it after a day or so but you are definitely slower. It would be a fair bit easier supported or at least not carrying a tent but you might be a lot more flexible unsupported
fantastic film! great effort and i definitely have drone-envy... how were the cycle network routes? decent enough? would you recommend them?
Glad you enjoyed! The cycle route networks were fantastic in Scotland for sure. South of the border I personally found them less signposted and not quite as good. I had the sustrans book which I used as a rough guide for direction and that was easily good enough. And yep the drone was extra weight but if you ask me, worth it!
Nice video. Great effort. 👌
Did you wild camp or pre book onto camp sites?
Wild camped depending on location otherwise generally only booked accommodation on the day or day before
