- Bicycle Touring France:
We start our adventure with a few setbacks but try to stay positive and make the most of it. We explore the beautiful and mountainous Jura region in France where the leaves are slowly changing into their warm autumn colours. Cows are our constant companions and we like to think we’ve grown a special relationship to them. After finishing our dinner in a small mountain village, we are invited to stay in a couple’s garden and are in for a special surprise. We finish this episode in the Haut-Jura where we discover how small the world really is….

One of the best things about cycling is that it can teach you that "people are so cool!". Love this video.
Yes, in a world that is so tense right now it's great to experience people don't lose their warmth and hospitality 😊
You guys are really making some of the best bicycle touring videos on UA-cam, the filming and editing is really well done.
Wow, thanks for the compliment! 🙏
Hi Eric and Maudi, thank you both so so much for mentioning us 💛This means a lot to us! You know you two are wonderful people and your videos are the highlight of UA-cam’s cycletouring world 🚲 thanks so much for your inspiration! Enjoy the road and take care! Lots of love, Angi & Reini
We love your video's guys, our pleasure!! Wishing you all the best and let us know if you have any plans to go to Spain this winter! 😄
Like the cow scenes..and the coffee brewing. Another great video!
Awesome pastures. Living on a farm I am often greeted by a magical mist in the morning.
We're jealous! 😊 We never saw such a view from our old apartment in the city...
These setbacks make you stronger, after a bike tour you can handle almost anything ,they also open doors for others to help, this is a part of the magic of bike tour
Nice couple👫👍👍👍👍

le voyage c'est la vie.
Very interested bicycle adventures tours
love you two----its' so relaxing. i do know however it come with its set backs, all of life does---thank you again--cant wait to see you soon. stay safe. deatra
Thanks Deatra, as you said there are certainly setbacks in all aspects of life, and they're often a great oppurtunity to learn something 😊
Whata nice spot to camp x2 !!!
"Dear God of the inner tires" thank you for that laugh...i do the same thing...i needed that..thank you!!
I would recommend using a plastic loop type of rim tape, the type which is not taped fast on the rim but just spun around. Choose a “high pressure” type then. In case of necessary spoke replacement very easy to remove and put on again as well. Additionally, I would recommend a bottle of liquid rubber sealant to have in your repair kit, which you could use for super quick repair in very miserable conditions. And it would prevent most of the flat tires for long (only, the here in the video shown damage would have been to big for liquid sealing indeed). - oh you are right, problem is, that might shorten the coffee & biscuits break 😁
Great to see Florent in the video ! I can't see it and don't mention his hospitality the day I passed in St Claude during my travel trough France by bike. What a human with so much experience of cycling and the nomad lifestyle. Humble and discreet ! If you see this I wish you a lot of happiness beeing again on the bike ! I pretty sure we will meet again somewhere on the road 😀
Another incredible Bike video, Be safe. Love the show.
Thanks & All the best, E&M :)
reminds me , despite recent events, that YES there ARE good people out there. Shouts out to cabin guy and Cyber- Math guy. I did a 50 miler yesterday to hit a farm to forage 4 lbs. of thistle for tea before we get slammed with a NorEaster , and it's all over . 4 frosts already, but the hardcore plants hang on. I recently purchased some Kenda tubes and noticed there's a wierd square "bump" near the valve, when you inflate and pre-inspect. I had two failures . I still have 3 tubes left, going to pre-install a preventative patch over them. No wonder they were so cheap on Amazon. 5 bucks. This was on a 700C wheel doing city commuting. I can even photo it if you want. The evil "fail wave". Some of these tubes also have wierd "multiple seams". So maybe it's chinese "quality fade?" . Again, I swear that Schwalbe tubes with stainless steel *Schraeder valves* have changed my life . And they hold air amazingly, so you won't have as much "pinch flat " risk. Maybe you can trim that rim strip down a bit and glue it to the rim so it's more "flush"???? Duct tape, of course, will save us all in the end. My take is "every bike failure begins on a microscopic level ". If a tube has a slice like that, I usually just swap the tube . I did learn a method that enhances the patch to actually stick to the tube, so "edge leakage " is prevented. Let me see if I can find the link , actually it's a combo of two links. Maudy's face says it all, anyway, wide eyed wonder, beautiful smile, you guys are stoked . Allez!
😁
Pro video, entertaining, charming, and kind of relaxing and satisfying to watch. You are doing fine and both presenting great. So, cooking the coffee is definitely not the only thing you “can do best” 😉 Love the additional information you provide about places you see and other travellers you interview and link to. Great enrichment. Please keep on doing so (even if camera positioning is a factor of time and effort). 😍
Haha, thanks Dirk, glad to hear that 😋 And glad you enjoy the inclusion of other people & their stories, we love that too though it's proven to be more difficult to get people in front of the camera, in Western European countries.
Hello from Russia! A love u video! U are the best!
Thanks 😊 All the best, E&M
Congrats !
Really enjoy your stuff because of you but also, it is real and achievable for everyone if they start.
The kindness of others is a big thing too …. The world is not so bad.
Great video!
Murph the retired bicycle-touring terrier and her slave, Jacquie, are wishing you a continued wonderful journey from here in Normandy. You are making me crazy with touring-envy!! Do it for those of us who can't at the moment. Tailwinds, blessings and safe passage!
Thanks to you both & hugs to Murph! 🐶
Eric, I love your description of fall. It is an incredible time of year!
Thanks John! It’s one of my favorites 😉 All the best!!
Very cool. I'd love to bicycle tour in France, it is a bucket list item. Thanks so much for sharing
I love you both man god bless you man
I assume that the bike is Koga Travel, at what price it should not even have happened in 100 thousand kilometers.Ik wens je nog steeds een zo gemakkelijk en aangenaam mogelijke reis, ik volg je vanuit Eindhoven.🙏🙏🙏🌹👍
This was a great episode. The garden you stayed in was beautiful and nice of them to let you stay in the cabin. People are so nice to cyclists. How amazing to meet the other cyclist again and great interview skills Eric.
They are right, the bicycle literally opens doors... 😊 Ps. thanks, we're trying to hone that skill!
I really love your positivity in life... Very calm.. Take care E & M.. RS
So glad to see you back out on the road. I hope that the pandemic settles down and we all can get out and enjoy the people and the sights of the world. Thanks for sharing.
Great interview!
Thanks! A fun thing to do :)
Well done! You complain of not yet having your full cycling strength back. I assume when this was filmed you had a few weeks cycling. Yes gads! What hope is there for me. I've been forced off the road for 2 years now, but hope to be back soon. I'm 68 years old and was assuming I'd be back in shape again after a few days riding. I've probably been too optimistic. I've met your friend in St.Claude. I came across his path in autumn 2018 or 19, and we spent a day riding together in Capital Reef National park in Southern Utah. Small world! Great to see him again and catch up.
That's right David... we got fitter and fitter the more we progressed... It's inspiring to read that despite being two years off the road you still feel the spirit to get out there & get back in shape :-)
What a small world right!?
Nice perfekto. Luxus
Marvelous cycling up there in France! how do you like all the church bells ringing ? i loved that!!
Do you mean the churchbells or the bells from the cows? Yes I like it though not when it's next to the place we sleep ;-)
Yes, the Jura in the autumn is amazing and one of my favourite places. Look out for the tasty mushrooms. Bon voyage
We would love to learn more about edible mushrooms!
Well done on your tour and thanks for the videos. At 66 I took up cycle touring in the UK having ridden most of my life, but also plan to do some in France, a wonderful country to visit. I have made a couple of videos too, but think I can learn a thing or two from yours. Looking forward to the Pyrenees section. 😊
That (B)ovine (S)egment made laugh out loud! Excellent episode in all regards!
Proud of you, keep it up. Have a safe journey 👍
Haven't watched a video in a while and yes have to agree the video footage, composition, editing has improved tremendously since the early videos. Really great editing and shots included. That morning valley pan was amazing. Best touring content + positivity I've seen on YT. Keep up the great work and enjoy the journey
Thank you for the nice video E&M... GOD BLESS 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
I like your videos
Your videos are such a pleasure to watch! Thanks for sharing and safe travels!
Thanks Mikhell!!
Another great video. I love the cows.
Echt jullie videos zijn zó leuk en n soort van knus❤
Ahh, dat is echt leuk om te horen 😊 Dank & Groet!
Guys you are hard workers creating these great videos, keep it up.

Happy nice day and beautifful day to bike packing..
Very...very romantis 💕

That view in the valley is AMAZING. I'm glad you're making so many friends in your journey. If you ever pass by Singapore, please let me know! You're more than welcome to stay over in my apartment!
That's great, thanks so much!! 😊🙏
An other wonderful vidéo, thanks for your share 🙂
Nice sharing dear😍stay connect
Superb!
You guys met some really cool people on this part of the trip 👍
I like to deburr the round hole with a file then put electrical tape inside the rim and if you can leave a little bit of tape in the hole. Use long end of like until the needle easily goes through. I carry a small clamp with two small pieces of wood to work as a clamp. When I am getting punctures I know about those linseed balls with all the points.
Great Video well done keep safe
Nice views and nice people
have you thought about setting up your tires tubeless? might help with all the flats
Find some black electrical tape and wrap around the whole wheel twice and should be good for quite a while. Good luck and safe travels!
Great tip!!
Nooo... you've cycled past Switzerland :-).
Great what yiu do
Chronic tube problems I like to carry a tube of automotive urethane adhesive from the auto parts store its pretty tough you can put it on some cloth and then glue it to the tube for an emergency fix love the vidioes keep riding
Thank for the tip Jacob! Sounds handy to have 👍🏼
0:43 Next time get the old tape out and put two layers of electric tape (all around), that should fix the issue.
Electrical tape is the best! Works fine with high pressures!
Great tip Pallas! 👍
What a video!!! what a video!!. how can you possible leave those places, that little hut, I would stay there for life.
Haha, yeah that cabin was very nice indeed. A tiny house for one no problem!
wonderful
Hi guys , IV had this exact same thing with the rim tape , it gets old and hard and cuts into the tube , to be honest I pulled it out and used electrical tape (two passes) and it's been on there two years now 😅 your temporary fix would probably be fine for years 👍🏼 good job .
Hello You Two. Nice seeing you're out again touring. We loved cycling through France back in 2013 as part of our first world tour. Currently, we've been pretty busy cycling down from Deadhorse, Alaska (now in Baja Mexico) so we've sort of lost track of your videos. However, as always your videos are very well done!! All the best to you, your friends from Florida! ~Ron & Petra
Wow respect guys, hope things go relatively smooth with the pandemic situation. No hard feelings, haha! Appreciate the comment anyway ;-)
I noticed you're documenting your journey too, cool! 😀
@@WheelstoWander buenas dias Amigos from Baja, Mexico!! Yes all has been going pretty good and honestly at times you wouldn't even know there was a pandemic. Yes this time around we are trying the UA-cam video making route; whereas, during our last world tour (2013-2015) we kept a blog. Both take so much time to keep up, but well worth it in the end. Doing our best to release a video once a week or every other week, but as you know it's not always easy to do. However, we are staying pretty current and are only a few weeks behind from our current location. All the best to you two and happy cycling! ~Ron & Petra from San Felipe, Baja! :-)
must remember .1992 in denmark to find a bike shop.😂😂😂
Hello, again
one of these Wheels to Wander videos with your very special talent to catch a scenic mood. thanks
I've been following Saddle Storries for a long time. Yes, they are also two very nice people. Your videos are very different from yours but also very good because they are authentic
Many greetings
Bernhard
❤️💙
oh and my latest discovery just last week on Prestas. Which I now hate. If your pump head fails to pressurize when the lever is locked , 1. make sure there's no excess protruding on the valve's teeny weeny spindle . If so, file it down a bit . Open the valve just a little. 2. Make sure your pump head is CLEAN , swab it out with a Q tip and Iso- alcohol. 3. This is the best one... If it still fails to pressurize , swab some tube cement into the sides of the pump head's hole (and micro rubber gasket . It's possible your pump head is just getting old and maybe some oil degraded the rubber slightly??? This worked amazingly. Before that, I had to wrap masking tape around the presta valve stem to get it to finally take in air . electrical tape didn't work. Arrghhhh..
super gut!!
Today my panniers arrived! Pretty cool. They clip on like Ortlieb and are fully waterproof. I will review them in months to come, I got both on eBay for under £30! There's a single malt whisky in Scotland called Jura, distilled for a minimum of 8 years on the Hebrides.
Hope you are running tubeless now...much easier. Last time I was touring I got as many as 7 flat tires a day in latin america. Got to Europe and converted to tubeless. Rode for 4 months with no flats🙂👍🏻
We kind of tried a hybrid setup with good succes. Curious to experience a full tubeless setup. Tailwinds 🍀
Good information
There is only a few people who appreciates the work of others and yep I'm one of them hehe👍😁👊 nice touring keep it up and by the way I've experienced a flat tire it's so hard when your so far away from the bicycle shop.
Thanks Ramon, glad you appreciate it And yes, especially three times in a row 🤪
i love this Channel ❤️😚🤗
Eric and Maddie Tubes can be frustrating.I had the same problem on my bike.very upsetting.😎🚲☔️🌬☕️🥪
It is 😖 Definitely need coffee & chocolate to maintain composure!

Thank you! Lovely comment :) Best wishes, E&M
Filmisch steeds beter. Moet wel een verdomd moeilijke zaak zijn om steeds tot op een kopje koffie te zoomen. Love the steenkolen john wayne accent 😉
Hehe thanks Rob, ja bij ons een terugkerend element, en dus ook in de video ☕️ Cheers!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi guys great video as always, I loved rural France can't wait for the next part of this amazing adventure be safe, and give us a update on how the gear is working for you as its getting colder 😀.
Hi, ouah the world is small. I just discovered your videos few weeks ago. I was in September travelling by bike with a friend and climbing, our first bike climbing trip. I am from les Vosges and was really glad to see that you enjoyed the place.
I was last week in Grenoble and decided to cycle back to Épinal. Crazy trip back with bad weather and huge distance per day. Anyway I was meeting Antoine and Élodie. I met them during this bike climbing trip and they met you as well.... They told me about you and your videos and I am so looking forward to see the episode from them. I heard that you are now down to Spain already. Would love to meet you on the road. I should travel again in January (not sure that I wanna do it with those temperature... This is pretty tough once it rains).
Thanks for the work, the sharing and the simplicity.
Do you have a video about you and your story. I am looking forward to get inspired from what pushes you to travel this way, where do you work, how do you manage relationship in such close experiences. So many questions.
Enjoy :)
Dorian
Thank you foe sharing a bit of your story too Dorian. Happy you like the vids :) Wishing you all the best, E&M
Shame about the repeat flat. Great video as always, you guys are inspiring.
Cotton Cloth Rim tape is the best for bike rim tape. Since you are in France, I had an inkling to look up about Lance Armstrong; Current worth...50 million from 125 million and currently owns a coffee Shop and bicycle business that are both named from his past experiences being sick with cancer and his endeavors in his Tour de France Cycle racing days.
Hi Guys. Another fantastic video! Bit of a random question for Eric - I remember you saying that the long sleeve orange top that you wear in this video was merino wool from Decathlon; would you mind telling me which model & size ( Medium/M-500?) so I can order online? FYI I live out in Thailand (they don’t stock this type / color at Decathlon Thailand) and have friends coming out from the UK over Christmas so will ask them to order & bring out for me.
Many thanks man!
What the odds to meet anyone again in a world travel? Twice or more?
Yeah, we were so surprised!!
Hello Eric and Maudi, hopefully you'll get it done soon. Will you ever go to Jamaica 🇯🇲?
We would love too!!
Really nice videos for you! I like them! But what is that coffee system in at 5:44?
Thanks John! It is the Zyliss Cafetiere Hotmug
Hi guys what was the name of the other cyclist you interviewed in France? Does he have a link to any type of social media etc? I’m hoping he’s written a book. Cycling + mathematics what a cool combination
Hi Arthur! The links to Florent's (FloaVelo) social media and website pages are written down by the video :)
🥰🥰🥰🙏✌️
Can you please tell us where you get those funky coffee mugs with the built in press please?
It's the Zyliss Hotmug Cafetiere!
top episode - mag ik het merk van koffiekop met het druksysteem?
Hey Sarah, het is de 'Zyliss Cafetiere Hot Mug'!
I'd love to follow your journeys but I can't find out where the FRance trip begins or what order the videos come in. Are you doing playlists? If so, what is the playlist called so I can see the whole thing. Thanks anyway.
We have to do something about that! Here is the playlist from thats series: ua-cam.com/play/PLQi9ZMWVAS9dOuUIDpEa6AI1XgXbzsH7z.html All the best, E&M
