    The thing about this collection is that while it's not bad, it's what I'd want from her Ready to Wear collections. This, to me, is not the extravagant Dior Haute Couture that the house is, or was, known for. I can't help but just see this as any old Ready to Wear.

    I need an update on the recent and upcoming models of 2018. Also you are an amazing youtuber and also the only one who talks about real fashion news and reviews. I'm honestly tired of these youtubers thinking that Forver 21 is the heights of fashion... Love you!!

    All of my fashion taste must be in my mouth, cause I was getting major Through The Looking Glass vibes and I loved it.
    Mathematically speaking every piece was constructed flawlessly. And LETS BE REAL, this day and age I'm happy if I like only a tiny hand full of looks in anyone's collection.
    Thank you for creating amazing content!!

    • @andreshernandez2941
      @andreshernandez2941 6 років тому +13

      Yeah the pieces were made to look good, but it’s more of a ready-to-wear than haute couture. That’s one of the reasons people are mad with Maria no-grazia. If you want to see really good haute couture search for fw 2003 Christian Dior

    • @mathieuberthiaume4735
      @mathieuberthiaume4735 6 років тому +3

      Search any haute couture show with Galliano at the helm, doesn’t even compare. Looks like a completely different brand. This collection was so underwhelming, it’s not necessarily her fault though, she had big shoes to fill.

    Am I seeing a woman dressed as a domino set? Christian Dior is rolling in his grave.... The only I liked was the white cape at 5:14 (exquisite work). And I liked the cage structure (just wish the looks were not so transparent... that is not Dior elegance... she could have played a lot around that structure, and did nothing with it).

    Poor woman can't keep track of whom she's working for. Bad as the collection is, it looks as if it was intended for Gattinoni or Schiaparelli. Her taste is intrinsically italian and try as she might, she will never be able to affect the baroque sensibility needed for a house like Dior. People are praising the 'beautiful organza glasses' by 'iconic milliner' Stephen Jones, but even those are nothing new. He's already done similar work for Ungaro Couture back in Autumn 2000.

    I get the fashion critic's point of view, that she wasn't faithful to the artistic source that inspired her, but as a non fashion critic/expert, I couldn't care less about that, all I saw was beautiful wearable clothes, but then I'm just a dreamer who dreams of wearing these clothes. ( and looking vaguely very remotely like any one of those models )

    When I graduated from fashion for my exam I made a collection based on surrealism and pieces inspired by the painters, writers, designers, directors and photographers that were a part of this art movement, Diors collection looks nothing surrealistic!! I would have expected something like Tom Walkers photography instead, I love your videos there wasn't a better way to analyze and critique the collection and show ❤️ I share each video on my Facebook and always say for people to check out your chanel!

    I actually think its an interesting collection, excellent tailoring and the actual concept is very clear.
    I honestly think she wasn't only inspired by one artist but by many surrealists, as I can see references to Salvador Dali with the butterfly's, the red, checkerboards and dominoes.
    Also, I think Maria Grazia Chiuri is doing something completely different from the other designers who worked as Creative directors at Dior, Raf simons was someone who worked with color and the silhouettes as many other designers, but I feel like she's always working with the essence and the feel of the collection, the clothes are interesting mostly because they aren't extremely embellished or extreme silhouettes.
    Her focus is on the tailoring and on the intelligence rather than the usual beauty and elegance feel.

    I actually think this is my most tolerable MGC for Dior show. I don’t know what to categorize them as, the masks? Headwear? Whatever you call them, ughh i just could see myself during every big moment of my life wearing a piece. The golden square ones i can imagine myself wearing if i ever should wed. I also think Aquaria made them seem so commonplace on a vh1 red carpet (why haven’t any stylist dared to do that prior to that event??!) I’m just sad they couldnt have lent Giovanni a real pair....

  • @alexanderespinal276
    @alexanderespinal276 6 років тому +1

    I like your channel and you're really funny! but when you talked about the boobs thing, won't most clients just have the dress lined with a skin-tone fabric or opt for a less transparent material? I thought designers showed the unlined see-through dresses with no under garment so that the audience can get a sense of what fabric is being used since they can't physically touch it.

    I agree, I watched the first half of the show last night and then fell asleep, so I got the gist, there were things that were pretty and things that I liked but “best of the worst” is an accurate statement. Again like everyone else the masks saved the show, the masks were amazing yeah. But this show kind of reminded me when you go to a really low end fashion show and a lot of it’s bad but those few good things make it look good, like it’s exciting when you see something that isn’t totally bleh. I just don’t like her for Dior.

  • @semanova

    I actually feel pretty much the same as you about this collection, for me it started very well, very focused and at some point it lost it´s conductive thread in a way and then it came back, there were 73 looks so I personally would have edited it and show around 55-58, keep the most interesting and leave all the more classic or repetitive offerings off, I also love the masks, they finish the looks wonderfully!!, it is also my favourite show from her so far and I wouldn´t like to see her go, I think she is actually selling, we get to see a lot of her shoes and t-shirts on social media, so I think she is actually making money for them, one of the things I HATE the most from Dior is this extremely annoying thing the have been doing since Raf was there in which they put only one song as a soundtrack that repeats the entire show, most of the times a very boring song that you have to deal with... Music is so important to express the mood of the collections so this way of cutting expenses for them is not doing much of a favour.

    mmm this review was really helpful because initially i liked the collection and i still do but knowing the reference and her inspiration now, it's really obvious that it fell flat. there are many easy routes she could have followed to achieve her vision for example using painted fabrics, abstract designs or three dimensional tailoring but she just stuck with pretty dresses. i want to see more than beautiful dresses that's why i don't care much for the likes of elie saab, zuhair murad etc dior is really going down the drain and we don't see much exciting stuff anymore. i care less and less about the brand everyday. nice review

But then it’s like, “Why would Maria go for Surrealism for the Haus of Dior anyway?” I guess because of the criticism that her looks are boring. Either way, I actually liked the collection believe it or not. It was okay. Someone said it was more like RTW than Haut Couture and bitch is that true.
