Well I don't know. He did start out telling the audience "this is going "to be a quick Q&A". Maybe Comedians in Cars getting coffee somehow influenced this. But whether or not this was inspired by Seinfeld's "...Cars" series, it does sound like he knew what the format would be.
Cody Brewster... I agree that was horse shit you show all the dumb questions then the good ones you skip through... You kinda suck man Stanhope is GOD!!!
Or "Who are you envious of?" On some Stanhope Podcast he baited the audience with how he was gonna shit on Burr later on, but when it came to the point he just said how he hates himself, because Burr gets so much shit done in his life: Tour, write a new hour, have a hilarious animated series, drumming, fly a helicopter, go to all these stadiums, do a podcast twice a week, meet a shit-ton of people, have a family... Well, Stanhope probably isn't envious of that one.
Doug is like Patrice, in that they absolutely can't stand fake people, so every interview of them with hacks like this in situations like this is hilarious. He thought Doug was joking at the end with that "just fuck off". he wasn't.
But this is Doug's problem unfortunately, not the interviewer's. I love Doug and I used to agree with him a lot when I was just a student, but now that I'm working full-time for numerous years and Im older, he really is too awkward often and the awkwardness stems from his own confidence issues. Being a comedian is at the end of the day a job and doing PR is part of it. IDK about you, but I don't deal just with people who are honest and to my liking at work. I don't expect it either, it's a really impractical and unrealistic expectation. So some level of fakery, or however you wanna call it, will always be there, because you have to make things work and communicate with everyone. Not just people you like. The guy interviewing him was polite, respectful. That's his job, it's not his job to be Doug's best and most honest friend. He hyped him just fine as the comedian's comedian. But Doug can't handle these things, because he is too self-conscious, has some issues and hides these behind the fact he calls everything BS and bitches about everything. He is right, he isn't wrong, but real world doesn't work ideally and he really should understand that by now. Even guys like Burr, Jefferies, Louis CK, etc. do talk shows and try to expand their audience and sell themselves as much as possible. The fact Doug's insecurities sabotage this part of his career is not the fault of people interviewing him. It's his own inability to move forward and adapt to life as it changes as we age. I love him, but he is a bitter motherfucker and his unwillingness to adapt a bit is his own fault, or personal choice. I wouldn't blame the people opposite him.
This was awkward. Doug can't vibe with many people. He constantly looks away here, cannot hold eye contact. It's funny he's so self-conscious all the time and why is it so hard for him to interact with others. I mean the thing is BS, but it's PR, everyone needs to do it. It's part of the job. No need to be there plastered, smoke, awkward, etc. I love Doug, but man, he has some serious insecurity, inferiority or whatever issues. And he's resigned, he doesn't try to fight them, like at all. He's just bitter and doesn't give a fck. I understand why he is this way and I don't judge him at all, but man, he injects everything he does with bitterness, resignation.
you cut a Doug stanhope interview down to 3 1/2 mins, wtf is wrong with you?
Fucking degenerates
Look how much those hipsters cut out. This must have been hell for Doug =(
Unedited Version?
Where is the full version?
"How do you dance?"
Doug: "I don't"

Doug: "Maybe a dancer?"
*39 Questions with Doug Stanhope*
Do not cut off Doug Stanhope, chances are he's better editing his words than you are

God, what an awful edit... he probably cut off the best part of the answers.
"How do you dance?"
"I don't."
"What did you want to be when you were six?"
"Maybe a dancer?"
lmao
Release the extended cut! You cut off so many of his dewey diatribes!
going to his show was the best decision i ever made
Most appropriate 'fuck off' I've heard for a long time.
LOVED IT, Doug's the best!

holy shit. the 9th configuration. wow. I never knew anyone who even heard of this movie
Mishka Shubaly!
Uncut please

Doug is GOAT hands down
This looks like stop motion animation.
Great use of editing software.
Doug more often represents my already solidified viewpoints on life and the world than any other entertainer i've found yet.
PAUSE.
Ninth Configuration is in my top 3 movies. It's off the charts. Makes me cry like the ending of Rocky or Casablanca.
Ha, the Ninth Configuration... awesome
People looking for some of the parts they cut out Mike Feeney (the interviewer) has a video on his UA-cam channel, it’s longer than this one btw
doug's so cute
Lmao "What are you scared of. (Doug)- Missionary
Bill Burr?
They probably asked him who was his favorite comedian.
Cody Brewster... I agree that was horse shit you show all the dumb questions then the good ones you skip through... You kinda suck man Stanhope is GOD!!!

Cool
Mishka Shubaly shout out there, nice.
Brilliant fricken dude
Who edited this, they almost ruined it? Dougs plug energy (at the end) is perfect.
2:44 "Missionary"
this video gives me anxiety
Lmao at hearing hennigan scream out
OttoEdrick "name drop!"
Yes gauge !
Wow its scary how many of his answers are the same as mine.
Me to Doug: Wiujd you let me live with me for 12 days?
What is the point of booking Doug Stanhope and then cutting almost everything he says?
He looks surprisingly well.
Don't ever change Doug we love you just away you are. Doug hates New York. I live in New York. I can respect that
I heard you changed yr name again, DARLIN'!
*Missionary*
2:43 this should be a fear of any aging man. Get a mirror and look down on it and see what your hovering wrinkly face looks like lmfao
I care. I DO care Doug. Tell me.
Goat
I’m at least happy that hating wind made this cut down version. Wind at the wrong Tim is absolutely infuriating
2:44 lol
What was skipped??
haha!!!
Doug Stanhope is the only comedian
I think even george carlin would commend stanhope for his work

Would have been so much better without all the editing.
Good interview, GENE. FROM WORCESTER!
Doug Stanhope - the guy I'd like to meet in a bar and get drunk with and talk meandering shit!
Already, question 1, Doug is a fellow open-mouth chewing hater. Kindred spirit, goddamnit.
Doug the bug
Fuck, Stanhope and Bingo got married? When did that happen?
It didn't. Doug's pretty blatantly against the mere concept of marriage.
Wow. Chive really shit the bed here. How about every question?
how many packs does he smoke a day?
He has stated that 3 packs is not out of the question 🚬🚬🚬
Absolutely destroyed Dougs natural pacing and timing with that editing. I love doug, not so much thechive.
Slow the fuck down! Way to many cuts
i tell jokes on my channel everyday one joke after I talk for less then ten minutes I'm not as funny as Stanhope but funnier then some comedians
*than
This might be the better way to listen to Stanhope's answers , all in sound bites.
No
tanks for the seizure. your video should be banned in japan, its right up there with that pokemon episode.
