@@craigmccall583 the pleasant problem, if one can say, about Pet Shop Boys' songs is that with Neil's absolutely unique but highly focussed singing is that he makes even not so ordinary songs sound greater than great, he's that good. Quite unmatched. At least among British singers, if Freddy Mercury's vocal range is regarded as being among the widest, I am sure Neil Tennant too has his own place. And may be Robert Plant would also rank among the best.
The orchestral arrangement introducing the song before going into an incredibly infectious beat throughout, the original words, these high points combined make it their (Pet Shop Boys) masterpiece from 1988.
Neil Tenant is my favourite vocalist, you can literally transcribe every word of the song when he sings. His clear elocution does not even for microsecond means, losing the rhythm and meter of this song. Awesome band, through and through
The pet shop boys music is FANTASTIC. Good music to dance to. I'm black and i've always loved their music, I still do. Well done THE PET SHOP BOYS. People will still be playing your music for years to come.
La Música de PSB ha envejecido espectacularmente bien. Siempre suenan tan actual, siempre ajenas al paso del tiempo, como una especie de hits de eterna vanguardia.-
Yesss! Nothing more to say. I was in high school when this was on the radio and almost 30 years after this song is relevant and the voice and music .... intense way ahead of the time. PSB is incredible. I am so happy that been in their concerts 4 times. Greatful to the life that let me experience them live
Amazing song. From the first note to the end, beautiful melody and lyrics. Great 80s tune that keeps coming back and making us remember the beautiful era in music. Great music is timeless and this is another example of it.
I hadn’t really heard this song before but the guy sitting next to us at the Hollywood concert absolutely loved it when they started playing it. We were touched by his enthusiasm and now I can’t get enough of this song. Rediscovering the PSB and loving it!
I’ve come here YEARS after first listening to the PSBs in the 80s and have fallen back in ❤ with them! So many timeless classics, but THIS was the most playful especially with the orchestra! Amazing
They have always used the orchestra to give their songs WAY more depth. This is another example of how pop and classical can meet, be great friends, shake hands, nod with agreement and then calmly walk away with respect for each other. Such a great band and song!
Nooooo - Mr. Pop and Mr. Classical didn't merely shake hands, nod with agreement, and calmly walk away as "great friends". They met, made eyes, flirted, began to dance together seductively, then just started making out like crazy in the middle of the dance floor!!! 💞💓❤🔥At least THAT'S what this song is telling to me... The story of their passionate love affair! 😻🎶🎶
I love this song! It is so awesome! Late 80s Rave Acid House Psychedelic style! Wonderful mixing of masterful 19th Century French Rosicrucian composer Claude Debussy! A Trevor Horn masterpiece! And philosophical reflections on individualism a la Nietzsche, Steiner and Crowley! Thank you so much Pet Shop Boys!!! Love is the Law! Love under Will! 🙂🌻💛🙏
I always loved the Pet Shop Boys and a lot of other "alternative" music from the U.K. I don't know WHY others, here in the U.S. , never truly appreciated their talent. I have always been in my own little world of non-mainstream music. I am happy for that! The Pet Shop boys are so talented and this song, is truly fantastic and a true piece of artistic talent.
A masterpiece from the Pet Shop Boys made possible due to the genius of Richard Niles and Trevor Horn. There so much going on in this, the beat, keyboard, orchestration are just stunning.A good lyric that many have commented on, and Tomitas early influence on Tennant is in there too.
THANK YOU for this education about the 80's. I knew there were someone behind Pet Shop Boys and Tears for Fears. These amazing producers deserve to be in the spotlight, not these silly "artists". Good tip!
PSB Will always be remembered not only for the wonderful music they created but the spectacular Videos and "mise en scene" they forever have. Two great Pop Artists.... Long live to PSB 🍬
