Because it’s newer than the rest of that last design, the 2023 Caligraphy. I don’t think I’d ever grow to like the ‘24 design, so it’s the ‘23, or possibly the Genesis GV70. It’s more upscale, but the downside is the closest dealers are 100-130 miles away. Plus a bit more expensive.
Just picked up a 23 Calligraphy. It was "used" but the only owner was the original dealer. They had used it as a loaner vehicle. 6500 miles on it for $35400. $11k under sticker.
That's one heck of a deal right there! Buying like new used car that was dealer owned is the best way to get a brand new car and save some serious money. I did the same thing when I bought my Genesis G70. Got a $10k discount on a 4 month old car that had 4600 miles. Absolutely insane.
Bought the 2023 Caligraphy after test driving a number of SUV’s. It was by far the best value for your dollar and in fact I would put up against any of the so called luxury vehicles out there. Have been driving it now for 5 months and it’s an amazing vehicle for the price…it’s like a muscle car in disguise, not to mention the tech is incredible.
Yeah, the tech is great. But one thing I've noticed in ours is that the infotainment system is super slow to boot up and respond to inputs. It works flawlessly smooth in my Genesis, but it feels like early 2000s tech sometimes in the Santa Fe
This dropped as I'm looking to buy a new 2023. I wasn't quite ready to move off my current Santa Fe last year, and was hoping the new look of the 2024 would follow the design language of the last couple of generations, with a few modern touches. But instead we got a monstrosity, IMO. I've found a couple of '23 Caligraphys at a dealer 130 miles away, but they are still priced at the original factory list. As you stated, there are quite a few low mileage used ones for sale, some under 5K miles (?), for less than 38k, but I was hoping to maybe pick up a new one for close to that.
How I was able to haggle the price down to $40k for a brand new is because there was a dealership an hour from me selling 3 brand new calligraphys for $40k, marked down from $46k. I then told my local dealership, if you can match that price I will buy from you. So they did. Look around your area and see if anyone is running deals. Not all dealers, but alot when we were shopping were giving crazy discounts on these brand new.
We did the exact same thing….and yes after adds for extended service and protection packages the price with tax can exceed $50k . The style inside and out though seemed much more premium to us and we did not need a third row. So we love our 2023 Caligraphy model. Thanks for the video!
Great car, but the DCT transmission drives me absolutely insane at lower speeds. I'm just glad it isn't my daily driver, I would have already sold it if it was haha
Beautiful car. Much nicer and has more features than other brands like BMW. You gotta pay over $60 to get all the stuff that is on this car for an SUV this large. Great value, and that warranty, you just can't beat it
I've been way more impressed with this than my parents X3. This has way more bells and whistles, ans comes in at nearly $10k cheaper. If people could just look past the badge that's on their car they'd be amazed at the value they could get for their money.
The 2024 Limited & Calligraphy models have two separate sunroofs for the first & second row instead of the panoramic sunroof. The second row sunroof is in the middle of the roof of the second & third rows
Love my 23 Santa Fe Limited. We have the plug in hybrid version which is a perfect daily driver for my wife’s short daily commute while also being practical for long road trips. Super smooth and quiet ride and great tech. Coming from a 2016 CRV it has been a dream. I do like the styling of the new 2024, but it’s just too big!
Nice. With the non-hybrid, the gas mileage isn't the best. Real world in the city my wife gets 20mpg and only 24-26mpg on the highway. But I mean, it's a big SUV, most cars in that class get around that or worse
I bought a new-on-lot 2023 Santa Fe with $13,000 off due to Hyundai discount, dealer discount and a conquest trade in bonus. That brought my SEL AWD down to $22.5k. The dealer already had the new 2024 models on lot; but still had about a dozen 2023 models. I also chose the 23 over the 24 because I didn't want a turbo, a DCT or a panoramic sunroof.
Good deal. I'm not a fan of the DCT, tbh, I absolutely hate it and if it were my daily, I'd be taking it back to get something else. But it's my wife's car and it doesn't bother her, she doesn't even notice lol. But the turbo engine, you're missing out on that. That turbo engine kicks butt. It pulls harder than an Audi TTS and a Mercedes A35 AMG I've driven.. It's not faster than those cars, but the feeling of acceleration is way more exciting and it feels faster.
I have a 2023 Calligraphy (upgraded from a 2013 Ultimate), and love it. Both the 2024 and 2023 Calligraphy have the same engines. 👍 I dont need a third row or a ton of cargo, so the 2024 just didnt make sense for me. I do long highway commutes and use the HDA all the time. I have never experienced any issues with it except when passing a construction area where the lines on the ground not clear enough for the cameras. I agree with you, having physical buttons makes sense for things you use all the time. And the heads up display is super helpful. Our local dealer here still have some of these for little below 40K. At this point they just want to get rid of them. Thanks for the review. Congrats on your purchase.
I love the interior of the 2024 Santa Fe, I would have preferred it over the 2023, but my wife couldn't get over the weird looking back end... You also couldnt buy a 2024 Calligraphy for $40k either, so 2023 it was haha. Great car still
I have a 23 calligraphy and love it . I did not want to buy the 24 model because I did not need a third row. Why pay for something I was never going to use.
Third row is unusable anyway unless you're under the age of 5, we looked at one, and I was extremely cramped back there, and I'm not tall. With it up you have no trunk space too. You have more trunk space in a coupe than the santa fe with the third row up lol. Palisade is the way to go if you need three rows. Very spacious and comfortable for an adult, and you still get decent trunk space.
In Canada they don’t have anymore new 2023s, so we got a used one with 17000km. We were gonna get the 2024 luxury but decided that it was just so hideous and we didn’t need a third row.
Just picked up a used 2023 this week. Love it. I don’t need it want the third row seating I wanted the cargo space. Traded in my old 2015 and stepped up to this one
@@HammysShowcase Wow, that's impressive! I was looking at a new 2023 Calligraphy here in So-Cal about 15 months ago, it was 46G MSRP, and they would not budge!
Which model year do you like better?

2019-20 and 2021-23 the 2024 is the UGLIEST SANTA FE EVER😢😢😢
$50k is pretty hefty for a Hyundai. That is luxury car territory
Right! At that price point ($50k) I will go for a Toyota grand highland, Honda pilot or the palisade.

Great price! There's almost none left in North Carolina, so they can hold on to the price.

Great review! I have the 2022 Calligraphy (basically the same vehicle). Great deal! And definitely the best bang for the buck!
Totally agree!

I still can't figure out if you're in Canada or the USA regarding prices...US dollars or canadian $ ?
United States. And those were prices back in March, nor are they selling 2023 models brand new anymore since they have been phased out
What was your purchase price before taxes? And what dealership?
It was $40k. Got them to bring the price down from $46k.
