2020 Renault Clio E-TECH Hybrid test drive | Groupe Renault

The Clio 5 is being tested in its new hybrid version. This new Renault Clio E-TECH Hybrid uses an innovative powertrain based on two electric motors, a combustion engine and a clutchless gearbox to maximise the benefits of electric power. It is capable of running electric 80% of the time in town, for fuel savings of up to 40%! This test of the new Renault Clio E-TECH Hybrid is presented by Laurent Hurgon, test pilot for Renault Sport, who gives us his opinion on this E-TECH system.

I have to say that Renault have nailed it with this version and indeed the whole fifth generation range. Funny thing is that it is probably the last design as electric is now taking all the resource.

So what is the comsunsion, Yaris hybrid goes 3.5L/100km?

I could test-drive one E-Tech Clio recently - quite sporty in a mountainous region, the result after 80km was 3,8l/100km. But engine-noise and acceleration feels more confident than in the Yaris, probably due to the fixed gear ratios. I'm currently looking for some offers at my local Renault dealers.
