About Rurouni Kenshin:
With over 72 million copies of the comic series sold and a total box office revenue of 19.3 billion yen from the live-action movie series, the legendary masterpiece loved by all generations worldwide, Rurouni Kenshin comes back to life as a brand-new TV anime in 2023.
The original work was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994, and in 1996 it was made into a TV anime for the first time. Since then, it has undergone numerous developments, from OVAs to theatrical releases, and now with Rurouni Kenshin: The Hokkaido Arc serializing in Jump SQ.
This long-awaited work aims to reconstruct the original story from the first episode using the latest animation technology, to create a Rurouni Kenshin anime that will appeal to current anime fans.
For the animation production, talented staff such as director Hideyo Yamamoto (Strike the Blood) and Hideyuki Kurata (Made in Abyss) for series composition were gathered. The cast members will be renewed, with Soma Saito in the role of Kenshin Himura.
After nearly 30 years of serialization, the new TV anime Rurouni Kenshin is coming soon.

We all really want to see the Enishi ARC animated
Please that’s all we are asking for!! Some of us have been waiting 20 years!
Agreed
Given that Jinchuu Arc in the manga was done right after the Kyoto Arc, I think its safe to assume we will finally get Enishi in the show in 2025 or 2026, depending on production time. Fingers crossed that the ratings stay strong and nothing happens between now and then that would inhibit things.
the only reason I'm still rooting for this remake
YESSSSSSSS ❤❤❤❤
It would be great if they had the 90's OST.
and the 90s cirecting and choreography
@@videogamesworld01 and colour palette
I couldn't agree with you more.
yep its a masterpeice and for me its the best ost production every. kinda hard to top it but their ost is so far from it not even using it as sample.
That would be awesome!
One of the best arc in anime history
Yes
Absolute facts! And if anyone tries to argue with you about this, know I’ll fight them for you!!!
And last wolf suite is the heart of this arc.
But the music still sucks
I can’t wait to see this and then the final season finally gets to be shown
technically the final season would be the enishi arc
@@ClxmzyKid that’s what I mean by and the final season
@@ClxmzyKid technically it isn't anymore, because of the Hokkaido arc.
@@ClxmzyKid Hokkaido arc
I love them just for doing this anime justice.. thanks for your hard work!
I can’t wait! I love the OG series but, this has been a faithful remake and it’s been perfect so far. Reminds me of FMA and FMA: Brotherhood. I want to see the entire manga animated, let’s go!
This is such a legendary arc! 🔥
Screw any of the haters. This series is awesome!
If you like subpar garbage that pales in comparison to the pure art that was Kenshin '97, sure. The fact that you had to add that first sentence says everything.
@@unadanni "pales in comparison to the pure art that was Kanshin '97"
Ok buddy. Lets just pretend Kenshin 2023 isn't a more accurate and faithful adaptation of the manga and that 97 wasn't a ton of filler and made more child friendly. Take the nostalgia goggles off.
@@unadanninot really. The 97' version had a lot of fillers and forgettable characters and later veered off into Anime-original territory after the Kyoto saga and arc, so no, it's not THAT great. This version is much closer to the OG manga and is much darker, which is fitting because the Meiji era was full of injustice and violence due to Samurai warriors being disowned by the Imperialists
@@unadanniAs much as I love the 97 version, I also come to appreciate the 2023 version due to its more serious tone and its faithfulness to the source material. The cast in the anime (Souma Saito, Rie Takahashi, Taku Yashiro, Yuichiro Umehara, Satoshi Hino, Yuuma Uchida, Tomokazu Sugita) is also great in voicing their characters.
Besides, what's the harm of enjoying both versions of the anime?
@@unadanniIf we're comparing to season 1 of the 90's anime, yes it is a little better. Season 1 of the 90's show wasn't that great (some parts are pretty shit), you're conflating it with 2. Folks are quick to highlight the new show's flaws but fail to mention aspects that are improved upon. The story is better and there's more information overall, the characters are better written, more serious, older target audience, way less filler, the art is more consistent, fight choreography is way better except for the Saito fight.
This is a more accurate adaption of the manga, not a remake of the 90's show. They both have their own pros and cons, it's okay to like both.
Season 2 is coming this year
You dont say 😒
I tought this year was gonna be so boring im glad that u guys making it ! At the start of the trailer i got kind of emotional, like, the anime u guys produced is SO FUCKING AMAZING is so hard to find a master piece like yours nowadays. Congrats, amazing !!
1:02 Dang, Deku really enjoy his Villain role all too well.
1:30 Looking forward to your version of Shishio, Makoto Furukawa.
Also, this will be a Moriarty the Patriot reunion between Liam Moriarty (Kenshin) and Sherlock Holmes (Shishio).
I'm liking Soujiro's VA so far. His delivery of "da sou desu" at the end was ice cold!
@@booploops22yes!!! definitely miss noriko hidaka's bubbly voice for soujiro (as well as soujiro's character songs) but this VA got that vibe so well i've got no complaints
One of the greatest villans of all time is here. So hyped.
Ikr I really thought Shishio was gonna be a villains who would clash with Kenshin equally but Kenshin almost lost including Saito, Sanosuke and aoshi
That's the point of a villain still Kyoto arc will be the best@@akai3974
@@akai3974 shishio is weaker than all of them apart from sano
@@midfielderlounge2592 wait what
@@akai3974 Shishio is an incredibly powerful and skilled swordsman, no doubt about that.
However, Kenshin, Saito and Sanosuke all had to fight and overcome Shishio's powerful "henchmen" first, before being able to face Shishio 1 on 1 themselves. Sanosuke fought Anji, Saito fought Usui, and Kenshin fought both Sōjirō and Aoshi. I mean, the fact that all 4 were still able to have a "go" at Shishio is pretty remarkable.
So yeah, all four of them were not at a 100% before fighting Shishio. Sanosuke was pretty wiped out after his fight with Anji, saying he couldn't even move his finger anymore while laying down on the ground. Kenshin was visibly drained, weakened, and bandaged up after fighting 2 top tier fighters. Saito's leg strength was severely weakened from his fight with Usui, and Aoshi couldn't even hold his kodachi swords anymore after his fight with Kenshin.
Shishio was lucky as well. He faced a weakened Kenshin who was still using the reverse-blade sword, putting him at a huge disadvantage. Also, the metal headband Shishio wore protected him from Saito, who was unaware of the metal headband and would have otherwise been able to kill him in a surprise attack.
I would not go so far as to say Shishio was weaker than all of them, apart from Sanosuke. Shishio was the real deal, but he had a major weakness as well. When he was set on fire, it damaged most of his sweat glands. That's why the longer he fought, the higher his body temperature would rise. Because of this, he could only fight at full power for 15 minutes. If Shishio fought for longer than 15 minutes, he risked setting his own body on fire. So in the end, Sanosuke, Saito, and Aoshi were able to buy Kenshin the time he needed to recover and defeat Shishio.
Sheesh. I rewatched the old anime and I realized how much talking was happening in that version. I don't know how much patience I had back then, as a kid, enduring all the dialogues just to see a glimpse or two of an actual "sword" fight.
When they released the new 2023 remake, i rewatched the 90s version bcz i wanted to compare the 2 versions, and really, the new remake is better bcz of the 99% filler that 90s version had.
like bro's about to lose but for some reason he spends the rest of his energy explaining the technique he's about to use like a fandom wiki writer
miss those times lmao they made my childhood less boring
They do the same skit in new version and it’s even worse
Honestly I thought there was more dialogue in the newer version and way less cinematic fights in the newer one compared to the 90s version
This is gonna be soooo good! I cannot wait to see how they handle the Fireflies scene. The 97 adaptation did it extremely well, so I hope this can amount to that. I’m so stoked.
First a Shibuya Incident, now a Kyoto Disturbance. What’s next, an Okinawa Offensive?
Good one 😂
Time for Karate Kid to take the stage! (TKK2 reference)
Hokkaido arc
well, kenshin came first...lol but yeah, got the joke
Hokkaido Crisis when...
Wait
Patiently waiting for Jinchuu....
Awesome Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Disturbance Teaser Trailer.
I don't know English speakers crying for 97 Kenshin. This is the best adaptation and faithful to the manga. Why people just keep blabbing about 90s adaptation. If you don't like don't watch. Nobody is forcing you.
Or, instead of dishing one to enjoy the other, just enjoy both versions of the anime. Both are great in their own ways.
Facts this is such a great thing too happen to us in the last crazy years
Hear hear,@@Thestomachlover
The old OST is the best OST in anime history and that alone makes the original adaptation far superior. Doesn't mean that the new adaptation is bad but if it wants to be close to the original one it needs to improve the OST A LOT. A prime example is Saito vs Kenshin. Watching the original you can notice how much the OST plays a role on the show.
First time on the Internet, eh?
The Juppon Gatana are comming

If this remake gets more attention and love, we might see a season 3 covering the Enishi Arc❤
I really hope we get to see the Shishio fight done in a real grounded way like the Saitou fight. The way Saitou grasps his sword with the gatotsu already gave an indication.
Makoto Shishio *Single* *Handedly* made mummies cool again
They need to up their game to beat the 90's version.
I hope they use last wolve suite BGM
yeah..couldnt agree more..that theme song really suit this arc
Can't wait 🔥
Aniplex, get a better composer for this show's musical score. A composer who is good at creating a leitmotif, and/or themes (Like Asakura-san did for the original series). It would add a lot to the show, because right now it's a detriment to the series.
Totally agree. I did not like the first season by its bland ost.
They should just redo the old soundtrack and add some new bits and pieces or try different arrangements here and there, just like the musical evolution of FF7 across its different iterations and spinoffs.
@@OsirisDragon Right? I liked it, but didn't love it. And the music was a big part of that. Totally generic...
@@foreighteen7797 Yes, exactly! That's THE perfect example on how to do it right. That's the thing with super iconic scores. All the Uematsu tracks and compositions were merely rearranged, re-orchestrated and adjusted to fit the new game. Difficult & precise work, but totally worth the effort in the case of FF7 Remake/Rebirth. And it WOULD'VE been worth it for the new Rurouni Kenshin anime as well.
O Shishio é foda em qualquer mídia pqp.
FUCKING SHISHIO MAN!
While I like it as much as the OG anime, i really hope they get to finish this. I will watch to support the franchise.
OG Shishio - Xanxus
This Shishio - Saitama
Old one was intimidating and scary new one is just lacklustre
Vamooooo
Cada vez falta mas poco
I have no problem with modern reboots but I wish I had seen this reboot first instead of the og, cuz I feel like I would’ve enjoyed this more than the og, but like I watched like the first 5 episodes of the reboot and it was nothing like the og and the og just feels better. And also I like kenshins old va so maybe it’s a little biased but yea idk, still a great show overall
Shishio's Guren Kaina is the real og flaming sword, not that baby stuff from Demon Slayer

Yeah, if you like children lol. This show is disgusting.
We as Kenshin fans can reclaim the series for ourselves while decrying Watsuki for being atrocious. I'm excited for this and I can't wait ❤
Golden COOL Brothers👍

I personally disagree about the English dub. I watch all kdramas in Korean and all Animes in Japanese, because this is how these shows were meant to be. It took me two episodes to get used to the new Kenshin, in the beginning I missed the iconic music of the original and the spelling of the fighting moves was left out completely. Both got better in episode 3 onwards and I'm already excited for season 2 and Shishio!! 😊
Meatball, Deku and Hawks voiced Makoto Shishio, Sojiro Seta and Seijuro Hiko! For Yuichi Nakamura, voiced last one, four samurai anime roles!
Cancel culture can burn in hell with Shishio. I will look forward, see you all in Kyoto
I like the 90s version and the new version equally, both are great. (I don't get why many people hate the 2023 version, it is actually more accurate to the manga)
Almost makes me wonder if some of these people are only anime watchers because they often don’t get the full grasp of the series when they rely solely on the anime since many anime series have scenes or wording changed or characters are nerfed and bastardized because someone in charge has a preference or hate for a character (look no further than Naruto for example and it’s so unprofessional that Kishimoto spoke up about it I can’t imagine intentionally wrecking someone’s life worth because of butthurt).
ty
I know it must be hard for younger people to pick up the old anime given the visual limitations, but man oh man, does this one feel soulless...
This remake is so far away from capturing the original's essence. I couldn't past beyond the Jin'e fight, on the original anime he felt so mystical, daunting, almost metaphysical. Here, I don't even know how to describe it, this remake is diluted, the characters feel bland with no personality and I know is just going to get worse (please prove me wrong).
Kenshin vs Saito is arguably one of the greatest if not the greatest fight in anime history, both visually and emotionally. I don't want to imagine how that's going to work out
Best Remake ever.
How is it really? The artwork seems like a downgrade from the first version to me
@@MsDragonbal776 The old art style doesn’t look that good in some sense. Just be happy we have a remake
the manga and the OA are still the best version. live action remake was not good on the kyoto arc.
@@HonjyouKamatari5 I liked the old art style because it was more detailed, menacing and mature. This one seems excessively bright and almost comes across like a Saturday morning cartoon
Cant wait💯
The 90’s feeler episodes were absolutely necessary and here’s why. The serious but playful nature of RK made Kenshin’s departure and the Kyoto arc hit harder
They certainly filled the world out more and helped paint the life that he chose to leave, but I understand their decision to skip them. I hope they do a filler movie that has some good slice of life moments or something.
Unnecessary if you read the manga.
@@jp3813theres always must have this type of person
No it’s not necessary and it’s completely skippable, you’re just stuck in nostalgia land, there’s enough playful nature in the actual content of the manga, the animes additions were very obnoxious. There’s nothing wrong with an adaptation playing it straight especially if they actually wanna cover the entire manga
The 90s anime didn’t go anywhere, just go there lol
@@roseoliveira6709 Ditto.
La gente no esta preparada para esta temporada, probablemente la mejor temporada de la historia del anime.
Hell yeah 😎
Creo que técnicamente me spoileé, yo iba todavía cuando Kenshin se encuentra a Raijuta
When will Tomoe appear?
Probably during a prequel arc that's if they animate it
Whait I thouught they were skiping the Kyoto Arc because it had been adapted to many times alredy and instead would adapt the Jichu and Hokaido Arcs. I read on an online post that the first season would cover the Tokyo arc and the Jinchu arc skiiping the Kyoto arc alltoguether but instead what we got was the firs arc and the prequel flashback story from truth and betrayal wish was originally part of the jinchu arc in the manga so what we got was actually a very small part of the Jinchu arc in season 1.
Season 1 Tokyo Arc
Season 2 Kyoto Arc
Season 3 Jinchuu Arc
Yoshaaaaaa ❤❤❤❤❤❤
90s still the best
One day, after total reboot or this, i also want Hokkaido arc anime! And you?

Good to see that they kept Saito left-handed
Best arc in anime history, but I worry about who's going to voice Shishio for the English dub. The original version was peak talent, so they've got large boots to fill. I'm sure the Japanese version will be excellent though.

It’s an amazing remake, but I just really miss the original anime art style. Can’t help it.

Is this a reimagining of the original show or kinda like DBZ kai? This anime always looked cool but i never got into it. This doesnt seem to be the OG version
Its a remake that's more faithful to the original manga
KENSHIN IS SHISHIO
The farewel looks dissapointing to me 😢 the 90's version of that scene was pure art!!! Also Saito and Kenshin's fight!!!
Yes please show us more and give us the original cast from the 1999 rurouni Kenshin
Don't get your hopes up on the og cast
Please fix de OST
Haven't watched part 1. Is the remake better than the original?
The animation fighting and voice acting of the remake is better than the remake version but the soundtrack and shishio s voice acting is better in the original. Although since shishio is yet to properly appear in the remake so its hard to say if his voice acting will compare to tge remake.
Also the remake has more serious atmosphere and better pacing
@@ahmedsaeedmob771 You said the fighting is better in the remake right?
@@sharsasuke01 i found it more realistic than the 90s version. The remake fights dont have ridiculus jumps like from floor to roof. Also, after rewatching the original 90s fights include a bunch of stills with speedlines, and the remake doesnt
I dont know how season 1 managed to have filler episodes but hopefully they cut it out. What's the point of a remake if there's just gonna be filler?
The Doctor Elder arc? It's kind of canon. It's only 2 episodes and is better than most of the 90's fillers. I think it did fine as far as fillers go and leads into the next arc very well.
If they did the doctor arc the maybe they will also adapt Master of Flame!

This is fake is just a recompilation of last season scenes
It's the same trailer that debuted 2 days after the season finale aired. Of course they don't have anything to show. Give the animators a break.

Honestly i'm quite surprised they still allow the production of this having in account "that" issue with the author...
the original series, it was 100 times better than this cheap version.
The fight Kenshin vs Saito killed the new anime for me, the direction was terrible
Horrible art... Shishio looks so dumb at the end
