do the crime do the time. so i agree and i balance that with the adage an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. i don't the equilibrium point so i will suggest that we are dammed if we do and dammed if we don't or we can chose to disagree on how to settle some kind of justice. unfortunately there is no fix of a cut so deep. but what can we do to heal and maybe prevent it from happening again. i will admit that i am clueless without a good solution. and i do not know what would be good enough. any ideas?

Even the judge! Once the case gets going, the jury determines guilt, but the judge says whether or not a case has enough merit to even be tried. That judge looked at the facts and chose to try the case. The judge listened to the detective admit he lied and didn't order a mistrial. The Police, the judge, AND the prosecution failed this man. If that isn't systemic racism, I don't know what is.

Systematic racism is THE MOST REAL THING ABOUT EVERYTHING. Right next to the institutional racism part.
I'm so embarrassed sometimes by these feelings: looking how I do, knowing I've been given something extra I don't deserve, knowing what awful awful things happened to my fellow Americans who weren't blessed at birth with the same color skin [sarcasm] or history. Embarrassed. Angry. Sad. I guess the only choice is love, like he so eloquently said⁵

You do realize the same exact thing has happened to white people right? We have to stop with this exaggerating race issue. I believe racial bias is real and it’s in virtually every area of our society, and it’s a big reason that Black people are disproportionately harmed. It’s not the only reason by far, but it is a big reason, in my opinion. But when so many people in the black community believe this stuff virtually only happens to them then they alienate other people who know they’re not telling the truth plus the black community and others who support groups for police accountability don’t fully know how to tackle the issue among police because they keep on believing it’s all about race.

So tragic that this happened to him at 16 years of age. So young to be locked up and molded by prison life. The Police officer literally stole this man's Youth, Freedom and Innocence. Amazing strength how Thomas has found forgiveness!

This is so sad on so many different levels. Imagine spending all that time behind bars knowing that you are totally innocent of what you have been locked up for. Losing 20 years of your life is no easy thing for a man and it don't matter how much money he gets, it will never be able to buy him back his youthful days.
