YAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
The henchmen are all fucking phenomenal. They manage to do absurd, comical character voices WHILE singing impeccably.
It's a perfect synthesis of voice acting and singing.
OMG YES my thoughts exactly. Just masterful control over their voices!
I am sure that every single one of those talented guys were just sitting here waiting for your worship. Lol.
Reminds me of the original "This is Halloween" song from the movie.
It’s lip singing to the pre recorded vocals so not much work!
@@christylouis2611 they didn't once mention singing and acting at the same time, they said voice acting, IE acting with your voice while also singing
I love hearing Geoff sing outside of his bass voice. Always catches me off guard and sounds incredible.
his vocal range is just unreal..
He is NOT a bass! He's a baritone, and it can be heard quite well on the high notes (an Avi or Tim would sound like you stepped on a toe of a little baby), and his deep notes as well, as they sound a little bit unnatural, as he has to create notes with special techiques, notes that Avi and the others can sing efortlessly on their natural chest voice due to their given range.
That is of course not a criticism, it's just the opposite, since he had to work harder to sing that deep.
@@benceschmidt2567 I believe they call it Subsonic voice? but don't quote me on that.
His voice gives me chills
@@benceschmidt2567 even though Geoff can hit higher notes really well, he can still go just as low as Tim and Avi with chest. The 3 of them can all go down to an F#1 in chest, with Geoff even being able to dip a bit below that. Geoff mainly uses subharmonic techniques when he needs to reach notes that are F#1 or lower, but there are many songs where he hits F#1’s in chest, and he even said himself that his range overlaps a bit so sometimes he’ll use either subs or chest around that range. Though he does have a great high range, he can still be classified as both a bass and baritone, as he’s able to sing lower (in chest) than 99% of other regular basses.
Hearing Geoff in the lead vocals satisfies me to no end.
I'm trying to figure who is the Santa singing

true... even as a straight man i have to admit that
Until you give birth to three sons who all have super low voices, then things get weird. My oldest is a bass, the younger two are baritones, but they are only 13 and 15. 🤦♀️ The 15 yo has latched onto Geoff and is currently spending about three hours a day working on his low notes and growl. Uh....would not surprise me if he ends up a great bass. Nothing more disconcerting that a 15yo growling a note so low that the dog runs in fear.

I'm not any expert on this, but not sure that Geoff's a typical bass. Seen a few discussions on that note and and also heard him talking that he's originally singed more in the baritone range and bass singing came later.
But that doesn't change the fact he's incredibly skilled and his range is just insane. Whenever I hear him, it's just pure enjoyement :)
I’m huge fan of Nightmare Before Christmas and Oogie Boogie is my favorite character, so I’ll admit I had high expectations for this version. But you guys completely delivered and did not disappoint! I get it Geoff did phenomenal per usual, BUT can I just say how truly impressive Earl was with his screechy voice.
Am I the only one who is in love with Geoff's body language/position on that last note? I don't know why but I keep rewatching that moment, not only for the low note but for his body position.

Same, I watched at least 15 different reactions
Thanks to Geoff I started practicing sub harmonic singing. Never been happier with my vocal range! Also the technique deepens your lows and helps you relax for the highs. I'm a baritone instead of a bass like him, but I was able to hit every note he did except for the high C. My god, the guy's got an astonishing voice and vocal range.
@The American Goldfish Slowly working it in, practicing first in your low chest register. I've found that letting it be more nasal and putting more air little by little allowed me to move higher in my sub-harmonic range. However, it IS limited by anatomy, so it will be pretty much impossible to have all of the range between low chest and most comfortable sub-harmonic notes. But don't be discouraged! The subs can be used as a "surprise" factor when singing pieces that use your most well-suited notes. In my case, phantom of the opera is a song that allows me to play with my whole range.
Good luck and keep on practicing :)
@@theamericangoldfish7372 I stand corrected by both new information and personal experience. It is technically possible to achieve it, but there will be a break point. By using a fry-growl it is possible to connect your ranges, but it is rather difficult to do it seamlessly (haven't been able to, working on it)

0:35 Is such an incredible display of tone to communicate information. The tone of "I might just split a seam now" connotes comical amusement, which is belied by the next line "if I don't die laughing first", where the tone indicates sarcasm. The tone of next word, "MISTER" connotes aggressiveness at demanding respect. In just a couple musical bars, he traverses 3 different emotions and establishes a commanding personality. If it were expressed in non-musical terms, he would be saying, "I'm amused by your preceding reputation, but I'm really not impressed by what I see. 3) The way they all bring it together and make it sound good is insane!
4) Think about how much effort/practice they had to put into recording it
This song is phenomenal
Edit: Damn, subterranean. Really good job captions
we've heard him sing this acapella and his range is just as good
@@ikkenogenspeciel1656 Sorry but what's your point????
@Nobody Right? All the guys in the group are phenomenal. But Oogie Boogie is the centerpiece and he will not be denied! 😊
Moreover he can go low because the others are working on the higher notes
5) And he's an order of "Lord, have MERCY!" with a side of, "Help me, Jesus!!" 😁😍💖
that last note was crazy omg
Love at the end how the captions literally just say "(Subterranean) MAN" for that last note.
New superhero just dropped
Geoff's low notes are God teir but his high notes singing voice is so hypnotic, I could listen to his entire range all day long
He did a song on his channel called High and Dry, I’m not sure if you’ve heard it, but it really shows off his upper range 🖤
Geoff has a bunch of solo videos on here. All very awesome.
I'd suggest checking out David Micheal Bennet of Steam Powered Giraffe. He does a lot of wide range work and has a similar higher range tone. Not quite as powerful low range as Geoff but still great. Hot on the Trail is a good starting point.
everybody talking about how low he’s going. why is nobody talking about how he can go very high, with a natural bass voice, that’s very hard to reach.
holy shit thanks for the likes
He's a baritone with a bass range, that's why he can reach higher notes. I don't have perfect pitch but I think it was a note in the 4th octave.
@@user-bx8sj6qm3w the note he hit at the end was E1 I think
Yea I can’t go high at all
@@tomwalls8455 the low one is E1 yes
He said he doesnt like to be classed as a baritone but he likes to be called a bass the beatboxer/producer is a baritone even though you cant hear it very well but he the bass can go from to a c4 to a e1 in seconds its remarkable his pitch is amazing he is literally one of the perfect examples of someone being a subharmonic bass
"Ima do the best i can"
*proceeds to break every glass ceiling*
This Video, from me, is like drug! I watch it almost everyday. This arrangement is terrific and insane. Geoff's voice is terrific too. It seems like a poem, not human's voice of course. i'm speechless
