Well done, lads. Definitely one of the more creative covers I've heard! I rate it ten raised alehorns out of ten 🤘
🤘🤘
Must feel great having one of your songs skyrocket into popularity. All of your songs are amazing though!! My favorites are your Skyrim songs. Hehe
Skål!
The legend himself gives it a 10/10!
Thanks! Our throats are still recovering from this one! Maybe pass the ale along...
I adore the fact that Geoff mostly used the tectonic plate part of his larynx in this one.
You made me laugh. Here's my thumb!
😂😂😂😂
i think you will enjoy what i just found: slow the video even a little bit and you can’t even hear Geoff’s parts. you can only hear the literal vocal chord vibrations.
@@neriothefurryoh my god.
Tetonic what? :D :D :D
I love that look that Geoff gives at 0:50, like "The very next note I sing is going to shake your speakers."
It shakes the whole continent!
I’m not kidding I’m listening to this in my car and at that very moment he almost broke my speakers
no joke i slowed the playback speed to make it last longer and instead i got his literal vocal cord vibrations.
Play it on x0.25 speed😂
…it going to send you to Jesus,… uhm,.. Odin! Odin!
While battling cancer! Your version of this song was my wife's battle-cry until her last days! Thank you for such a stirring rendition. She really loved this one.
I am as much saddened by hearing this, as I am happy that she had such a wonderful song to hopefully soothe her in her time of need, and hopefully yours. Thoughts are with you, friend.
I hope life goes well for you my friend, from one person who's lost much to another, step by step, day by day, stay strong.
@@DainnGreywall Well said. Coming from someone who lost a daughter to suicide at 17 years old, that is the only way. Step by step, day by day, and stay strong, indeed. Thoughts to both of y'all.
After the pain peace be your journey!😢❤
@@vozzdancody9247my sister died at 24 1/2 y.o. for the same reason two years ago
Eli reached up to Asgard for his notes, Geoff made a deal with the Warden of Helheim for his notes, J.None traveled to Alfheim for his smooth melody, Cesar has the bloodlust of Thor is his eyes, and Layne with this arrangement connecting with his Viking ancestors looking like Heimdall guarding the percussion ready to sound the horn for Ragnarök.
bru wha you talkin bout, stfu
(Absolutely MUST DO) what about this: Here Come the Tears by Judas Priest, we want Eil Jacobson to take full lead, high harmony by: Cesar de la Rosa with Mitch Grassi from Penatatonix, Geoff will used mixed of subharmonic and growl for the bassline.
Perfect description!
Das what I'm sayin
This!!! Accurate and the best presented description of how they hit some of those notes.
And upon answering the call, those listening were thunder clapped sonically by the mighty vocals of Voiceplay, the likes of which, none of us were prepared for. Thor would be so proud.
What the fuck is up with all these time travlers
SKAL!
That is true, but I think I sense a high degree of magic and mischief in there, too... ;D
@@Regina316I can't decide who is channeling Loki more, Eli or Geoff. Geoff is definitely enjoying this chaos, while Eli at times looks like he's ready to mix things up with mischief and magic.
@@foreversearching13 I'd say Eli - if for no other reason, then because he was definitely some kind of mage in Dragonborn. XD
So I didn’t even realize how much I needed to hear Geoff sing “fjords” until I heard Geoff sing “fjords”. Life is good.
me tooooo ❤❤❤
it's the word "sagas" for me. His pronunciation isn't typical, at least for an English speaker.

@@wa6488Geoff sings fjords at approx 0:41 and sagas at 0:47 to 0:48
@@grinebider8 Thank you so much
For the longest time, Voiceplay's fanbase has been dominated by people wanting to hear mainly Geoff's buttery smooth low notes. So you know you've done something special when the "most replayed" part of the song isn't Geoff singing, but Eli hitting those monstrous high notes. Absolutely stunning
Come because of Geoff's stay because everyone is doing their parts to create beautiful pieces everytime.
Yes! I love listening to Eli just as much as Geoff
Rock God Tenor Eli is more like Beserker Tenor Eli in this. The good way.
We knew Geoff wasn't entirely human, but now I feel confident in calling out his true species.
Dude's a frost giant.
Son of a Dragonborn who mated with a Jotnar.
True dat! Viking Geoff is one scary dude.
He looks awesome in this video.
Almost, but Geoff's voice is deeper.
I heard the bass voice and immediately knew it was him ! His voice vibrates in the chest and add a sensation of calm and peacefulness that's incredible
I have never, and I mean never, played a Voiceplay song on repeat more in my life. I play it in my car, I play it on my headphones, I imagine it without it even playing. This song is a true, beautiful masterpiece that will never lose the ‘wow’ and ‘shock’ factor I received on my first listen. Props to all the guys for the amazingly insane and awesome vocals in this masterful arrangement. If you aren’t a patron, I full recommend it so you can get these amazing songs early.
And the karaoke track! It’s a piece of art just on its own!!

Those are B4, C#5 and D5. And I am pretty sure that's head voice, not falsetto. How???

Listen all! As I tell you a tale of viking legends.
Home Free may have their country sound
And Pentatonix their worldly acclaim
But today I speak of VoicePlay
To spread their godly fame
I speak of Layne with his drummers call
And Eli with his eagle cry
And Geoff who's warhorn tones do shake the earth and sky
I speak of Ceasar with his fierce vocal flames
And J. None who fights with his word
His vocal prowess tames the dragons
And cuts naysayers like a sword
When you look upon this band of warriors
You may only see a perfomers troup
But look closer and you will see
They're a much more powerful group
Their vocal power spreads from land to land
And leaves the world in awe
And those who dare defy them
Listen and drop their maw
So pay heed to this mighty tale
And hear the VoicePlay's call
For it is the sound of the gods you hear
Praise VoicePlay one and all

The fact that these types of bands don’t even use INSTRUMENTS is incredible🤩 amazing job guys.
this genre is called acapella, if you want to find more groups like them
I’m so used to Cesar doing the tender and vulnerable vocal lines. I was not prepared for fierce warrior Cesar! 🔥🔥🔥

How/what do you mean?
Because as a person who knows none of these dudes by name, I couldn't (for the life of me) point at one person being or having been more of an addition than the others 😂

@@pandareijgah3820 well the reason I am saying this I because J-none used to be a member of voiceplay for a very long time, but left the group to join the army and perform his duty, now everytime he is in a video with voiceplay it like the team being back togheter :)
Some people are born with special gifts and all these gentlemen were born with one of those special gifts. Amazing voices. Sends a person into an epic viking battlefield. And that gentleman with the bass voice. That's a human hunting horn! Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world.

J None: very connected core matching the spirits of light and darkness
Geoff: brought us up the underworld on earth

@@jamesmazurjr4730 nah the end repeated too much and dragged on in the other versions, broke the song up better and added a twist to it, better than the copy + paste from a lot of other covers

Yes, love the acting they do as well. In "My Mother Told Me" it was Eli who was terrifying. This time it's Geoff. But they all do badass pretty well... In the dystopian future videos too.
VoicePlay has never been so fearsome!! This song is absolute insanity from start to finish, and the video is brilliant. I'll add more when it's safe to add spoilers, but let's just say that this is without doubt one of VoicePlay's best songs to date.
Lord have mercy! I was not ready for the highs and lows of this experience!

This interpretation shows exactly why Geoff, Layne, and Eli chose J None and Cesar to join the group over the years. The original 3 sonically are basically perfection and have been for quite some time. Now they’re flexing their growth in other ways. J None and Cesar are improving exponentially, which is insane bc they were both fabulous from the get go.
Phenomenal visual effects using Vu Studio’s massive sound stage! These guys level up their game every time! This time with literal sweat and tears to make this happen. A 12 hour shoot day in a studio with a broken AC wearing all that fur! This is why I support these guys! No one is going to accuse Geoff of looking like a shampoo model in this one... he looks ready for battle, as do they all! The song and video are epic, amazing, mindblowing! To Valhalla and glory!!
Here from The Modern Renaissance Man. You guys rock!!!
My mother recommended this video to me. The costumes, the background, the harmony, the layers, all beautiful! The trace amount of Viking blood in me has been stirred.
This song inspired the next D&D adventure I'm going to run for my group (they're all related to me, so hopefully their blood will respond in a similar manner when I play it for them).
When Valhalla calls, Voiceplay answers.
Truly amazing.
Man, so many things going on here! First, it's great to see J. None back, I miss his voice. Second, this is the second Viking musical they've done, and it blows "My Mother Told Me" out of the water! The scenery, costumes, makeup and special effects are the quality of a motion picture. Finally, the last verse? J. None was literally spitting bars! I've never seen anything like that from Voiceplay. That's why it was so great to see J. None return. 5 stars all day. 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟
I give this version of Valhalla Calling... a pure 20/10. It gives the vibe of a crew of vikings singing of their journey as they get ready to go!!
This is by far, my current favourite song - and my favourite singers for this song.
The fact that Gavin gets enough respect that others cover his songs is amazing.
And that solo by J. None was SICK!!!
I can honestly see this cover as you guys swearing fealty to Gavin's Clan of Vikings
Epic! Fantastic and gorgeous! You all became giants while singing the song.
Layne, it was great to hear you sing. Eli gets huge as he sings.
Cesar's voice suits any song.
J.None, the rap in between was incredible.
And Geoff... His voice calls me to fight. Millions of people will no doubt heed the call of this voice.🛡️⚔️🙏🙏❤️❤️
🤗🤗❤️🙏😘😘😘
I did not know these octaves were possible
Best rendition of this song I have ever heard!! Amazeballs!!!
I find it hilarious how people get mad "rap doesn't belong in a Viking song" as if Vikings ever sang heavy metal. 😂 There's a significantly higher probability of a Viking rapping about Odin while standing on the prow of a ship than busting out an electric guitar. Plus those bars were fire! 🔥
believe it or not, vikings were known to rap-battle. ever heard of flyting?
😂😂😂flyting the og rap battles of yore
Vikings were also known to write poetry and they could throw rhymes out like no tomorrow so the rap actually fits in instead seems out of place
Creative license
Rap is just speaking with rhythm, so yeah just about everyone could rap, so indeed
I think the Valkyries took this song to Valhalla and Odin listens to it. The clarity of the voices, the harmony, the freestyle part from J-None. The visual !!! It's fantastic how you focus on each other during the song!!! A very good follow-up to the song " "My Mother Told Me". There is a level where you can't highlight everything. Now VoicePlay has reached that level again. One word: Perfect!
PS: Of course, a special thanks once again to everyone on the other side of the camera for the amazing work!!! 🔥🔥🔥🎼🗡❤🔥
Now we gotta get Payton Perrish, MiracleofSound, and Eric Halloway to team up with you guys on this song for the ULTIMATE CROSSOVER
I would sign that potion
Out of all the covers I've heard this is by far the best one ever. The harmony and everything is just pure awe
It took me a couple times watching both videos again, but I love that they paid such attention to detail that everyone is wearing the same outfit/has the same makeup as they did in "My Mother Told Me". Geoff's is slightly different but still very clearly the same style. I shouldn't be surprised, but seriously so impressed.
Cesar's wearing Jose's cloak from MMTM, too.
Nothing Else Matters is awesome, but THIS is the song that convinces me that Voiceplay can do metal if they want to.
If I gave a like for each of my listens to that like there would already be them 100 000 like.
I just came across voiceplay the other day and I am already hooked on them. I only vaguely know who is singing where, but their songs make me feel excited.
