EDIT: For ANYONE asking about why Geoff doesn't hit certain notes in this video, this was shot with an iPhone XS Plus. It is NOT a professional and clear studio recording.... Audio from this video is no where near indicative of what he can do on any given day.
The crowd is so well-mannered. Nobody is screaming to the point where you can't hear the song.
I think they're speechless because it's so good! Or else because they don't want to miss a note!

Mr Blue Sky Why’s that? Noisy crowds? A friend and I once walked out of a No Doubt/Bush concert because of teenagers (13 or 14 I’d bet) behind us who were so loud we couldn’t hear the music, in a open air concert venue mind you! They kept screaming “Gavin I love you!” “Gavin you’re the best!”
But the straw that broke the camel’s back was “GAVIN I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!” My friend and I just turned around and gaped at them, but they never even noticed us! So we nope’d outta there and went to get a drink...
Oh, and that was the tour Gavin and Gwen ended up falling in love 😍! So romantic!
@@DravenGal exactly the same scenario, they SCREAMED the second they come out on stage. If you dig through my channel, you'll find some videos but you legit can't hear them sing. I'm totally against anyone cheering during the act singing, just wait until they've done each song and go as nuts as you want. And one guy who at the time must've been 24 was like "MITCH IS LIFE!"
@@HaydnG266 Pentatonix live videos are not too bad if they are well recorded tbh, there are way more noisy crouds. The videos of PTX live performance the most noise I hear is when they start a very well-known and liked song, when they finish the song and when some of them does something cool with their vocals.

Most microphones aren’t going to have a good frequency response at 40 Hz, other than ones specifically designed for it.
Ricardo has a good point, however it could be also your headphones, I can hear it pretty clearly

E1 is his lowest recorded subharmonic note. How he can sing down from B4 to E1 live is amazing. As he gets older his voice will continue to get deeper. So maybe one day he’ll get even lower than E1. Personal opinion he’s better than Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust.

He went even further in "warriors". He hit C1-B0. he is better than Tim and Avi, but Avi's tone is superior even tho he doesn't go as low, in my opinion.

My opinion - Castellucci has a more clear tone and a more superior range. Afaik Tim Foust has gone lower than Castellucci. Avi Kaplan's runs are his selling point.

It’s definitely a mixed belt but it’s really impressive for a bass all the same.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like he's using a growl at the end instead of subharmonics like the studio version. Still doesn't take away from how impressive it is
Cinnabread it’s subharmonics, Geoff has said he had to practice a lot but he is able to do it live
He doesn't chest it. That's mix. He talks about that in one of his videos

hayatropical if you have Instagram, go and search on VoicePlay’s tagged posts. It takes a bit of digging but there’s maybe 2 videos of oogie boogie on there. If you tell me your insta I can dm them to you and save you the time. One was uploaded on the 24th November (good audio) and the other about a day or two ago (poor audio). There’s also a recording of what’s this, with Geoff getting the G#1 in chest. With a significantly better tone than before (but poor audio)

I’m not surprised that Geoff nails this live, and yet I am still EXTREMELY impressed
Hitting that final note is something genuinely special. Doing it live is just astonishing.
The most impressive part isnt the subharmonic, (that is impressive though) it's the high notes he does, which are really high for a bass.

Okay I know its really impressive how Geoff can get the E1 note, and it is, its absolutely amazing, but (and don't judge me for not knowing their name, I just found this channel, I only know Geoff because of comments) why is no one talking about the person who said the line about not knowing the position he's in? That voice has got to be hard, and to make it sound so good is just absolutely amazing!!!
That's Earl, he does have an amazing voice.
Earl Elkins Jr, also one of founders of Voiceplay (they know each other from middle school) - unfortunately he left the group for some personal reasons, not sure family or health. If you want to hear his voice without the character strain, check out their Can't Help Falling In Love, it's super bright.
I am literally so impressed that Geoff Castelucci has the consistency to remain on key live even on his most difficult notes to date. There are high notes in this song that are near the top of his range and low notes that are near the presumed bottom of his range. It's one thing to be able to hit those notes in studio because you have as many attempts as required to get one perfect and you just use that one. Live is a completely different ballgame because not only do you have to sing the perfect run like in studio but you also may be dealing with stage nerves or worse, technical difficulties. O_O But either way, I'm just impressed Geoff is such a talented and practiced singer.

"Thirsty," that what they use these days isn't it? Back in my day we used the term "horny." But my comment was neither...although I can see why if one looked at it a certain way it could be interpreted as such. But as mentioned, I already feel too guilty to have any fantasies other than sitting down and chatting with them over coffee for a few hours! I respect these guys way too much! I just kind of got here randomly as UA-cam is known for, but I wanted to compliment you on your description. These days, people forget that before iPhones existed, we had GPS technology, flashlights, portable computers, cameras, etc. That technology didn't go away. A good smartphone is an indispensable tool, but there are *far* superior video cameras, portable computers, and flashlights out there (trying to use a phone as a flashlight is a great way to get a cracked screen, by the way).

I think J None is doing it at parts, but it's mostly a backing track while Geoff is singing (and then he takes over when he's not singing the lead).
